Any opinions on the Dave Patrick Ultimate ARF? Thinking of buying one.
Any input on both the 1.2 size and 40 size would be appreciated.
And what motors would you recommend for 3D on these models.
Thanks

Hi Sheif,
Hope you didn't want one of those real soon! My DP Ultimate 120 has been on order since early August
It was voted #1 ARF in M.A.N. and I haven't heard anything bad about it other than the weak landing gear. I'm going to try flying it with a 1.20 Saito but I think most guys use a 1.50 or 1.80 for 3D.
Wish it would get here this year.

This plane has many good comments on this site. I have a the os-160 rocks on this plane (that's what they say here) I have flown mine with a satio 180 and now i have a rcs 1.4 gasser on there; however i will be pulling that off to go the os rounte. the planes lands very well and flies great imac and 3d. go to dp website and you can read a few reviews by the magazines on the bird. talk at you soon....

Why are you removing the gasser? I was planning on using a rcs 1.4 on mine?
Thanks

Has anyone heard when these planes will be in. I've had the 120 ordered for several months now and still haven't heard anything. I hope it will come sometime in my lifetime ;O)

I have a Saito 180 in mine and dearly love it.....a Saito 150 would probably be enough. The plane is easy to fly and land. It is capable of way more then most pilots can ask of it.

I've herd the 120 Ultimates will be in around December......but we all know that story.... All I can say is I hope the boat with the containers full of DP airplanes didn't turn around when all the ports where closed!!
I bought the 40 size to hold me over since I was sick of waiting for the big one. I've got a YS 63 on the front, but have yet to fly due to weather.... The 40 has got to be one of the nicest ARF's I've seen as far as quality, and from what I hear They're both awsome planes. i'm going to put a YS 140 on the big Ultimate if it ever shows up!

I am pulling the RCS 1.4 off to install on a lighter plane once i build or start building it next month. The RCS with 16 x 8 doesn'ty have the verticle i need to do point rolls on the up lines. I will try a 18 x 6 mejzlik, and APC before i pull her off. She is scale flyer with this present set-up. She was one bad girl with the satio 180 on 15% nitro and an 16 x 8 APC on a pump with a 20oz tank. I am 12 3/4 lbs with the RCS 1.4. The motor will hold the plane on the prop for about 3-5 seconds at 7/8 thorttle and i don't have any pull out on that deal. The RCS is a sweet motor as i plan to put this on a 9-11 funtana depending on my building weight as i see them under 10.5 lbs with most builders........

I sold it for only one reason. Got tired of putting it together at the field. Flew nice.
The only thing that I would change is the covering. The seams do not over lap enough and it needs to be a different scheme on the bottom of the wings. Hard to tell top from bottom while flying.
Was a fun plane to fly.....if I could take it to the field in one piece I'd still have it......

Pug....wait till you see my new trim scheme....easy to tell top and bottom now and looks great! All done with a little additive covering. Now mine is definately one of a kind......kinda like me huh Pug? 3/32 ball driver and a small ignition wrench make short work of field assembly. Got some GREAT wingbags from Wingbags.com....they even have a pocket for the struts. Contact Matt at http://www.wingbags.com and tell him Shawn Stickney sent ya.

Pug,
Good point mentioned as i always take mine to the field alreay put together in a long bed chev with a camper shell. I did take it to the field once not put togehter and forgot to put all the struts bolts in. Luckly she made it thur that flight and is still here to brag about it. I now find i am just ready to get in the air to quick so i must need some help! I remove the covering on the bottom wing and installed white ultracoat on mine so i would know the top from the bottom. How the cold weather treating you?

I spoke with Dave himself on the phone. The new batch of "blue" Ultimate 120's (which was said to be available in September on his website http://www.davepatrickmodels.com/news.htm ) got delayed because of the coast strike in CA last month. So the container that was supposed to go to China to pick up these new Ultimates didn't leave until about now. Dave said this container should return to US full in December. Give several weeks to make it to his warehouse in IL, and another week to ship, you might have it for Christmas !!!!!

Thanks that's the first thing I've read about the arrival. Doesn't look like I'll have time to work on anything until next year anyway.
I would at the least be able to find time to go thru the instructions.

I have a DP Ultimate 40 in the box still. The plane looks great and is feather light, compared to my other planes. Finances for the radio put construction on hold. Anyway check out these links they have lot's of great info on the DP 40

Everyone says the plane flies great with an OS50 SX, a Saito 72 or YS 63. DP uses a YS 45 for the instructions. I plan on using an old ST 60. I had this engine on a Hobbico Ultimate bipe and it was insanely overpowered. Made it a lot of fun. I hope the DP Ultimate will be the same, but fly a bit better..

I've got the 40 size... do a search on it... lots of good threads...I acctually flew mine for the first time today and it's a sweet plane. The YS .63 gives it Unlimited vertical , and it's still has less than a gallon of fuel thru it, and I fly at 5000 ft ASL.... So amazingly light, well constucted and great flyer. Do the search and you'll get the skinny on it

If you get one, don't be sucked into using the supplied hinges. I had an eleavator hinge brake, doing the Blinder. luckley I found it before I lost the hole elev. It was a royal pain to fix, and now I have to wonder about all my other hinges. : (
Mine has a Sato 180 and flys like a dream. I had 2 flying wiers brake in flight. I have replaced them, and the pull pull cables with heaver cable and thay are fine now. I am not shure if the flying wires are a must ( because my tail stayed intacked after thay broke), but with the stunts I put this plane through I am glad thay there.
So replace the cable and the hinges and go punch some holes in the sky.

Hello everyone I just got a DP Ultimate is a MOKIE 1.8 going to be 2 much? I waited 6 months on Kyosho Flip 3d and gave up. I like big airplanes and figure i might as well take the plunge with the DP. I also have a satio 180 which would be better?

Well tonight i did the swap out. i pulled the RCS 1.4 off DP and installed a OS-160 with a 18 x 6 Mejzlik ( i will also try out a 18 x 6 APC). I plan to install the RCS on a funtana that i picked up from Pugsley. I forgot to get a weight now that i did the swap out.
Were are you all taping your OS-160 to run a pump?
tomorrow is suppose to be in the sixities so i should be able to fly her tomorrow.
