Well, I just couldn't help myself after what I saw at the field a couple of weekends ago.
If God is my co-pilot, look who's flying Captain!!!
Just the thing for a Glossy, Monokoted RED ([:@]) Staggerwing Pilot!

E-bay... $12.00 shipped for both.
The big un is 12", the little un is only about 3" high, but will fit in with NO mods - doesn't eat as many cats, either...[X(]

Of the people who have been using gassers in this kit.. whats the sensus on engine for best performance while keeping everything mostly conceled within the cowl?

O.K. gang: here's some info for the "Painting MonoKote question. I have attached a photo of the paint I use. I have only found it at Auto Paint store. Its for painting plastics, a flexible paint. Its also acetone based so no primer is required, cripes you really dont even need to buff the monoKote (I do anyway) Now the low luster clear is what I just to dull the monoKote for a "flat look. This stuff is really great, I still have guys at the field that insist I painted my Great Planes Curtis Hawk. Its also fuel proof. I used the gloss black to paint the leading edges on the Staggerwing, Also sprayed the entire plane with the clear gloss to make it all look even. This stuff sprays really easy, even used it when its windy, dries within about two minutes. If ya all can find give it try: you wont be sorry

Dennis, Are you saying that this is fuel proof from glow, or gas? Sounds like what I have been looking for.
Thanks,

Well,
the stagerwing sold....
Also.........FOr the Gent,,, thinking about the clear cote....Carefull if you use Glow/alcohol fuel....
It will soften...I sprayed some stuff I picked up at the Local Home repo.. and it came off and got sticky junk in not time
when exsposed to Fuel.....
IMHO, the only way to go is to use Automotive (mix your own) clear cote....Never effected by Glow fuel...ever...
GAs engine........
Go for it...... I don't have this plane, but there isn't any reason you can't place the 24ccFuji gas engine in there....
Should balance just fine, and run great with little to noooo maintinence....You can't beat gas engines.....No fuss flying is what
it is all the rage, you know!.....
Seariously, I like glow engines and all, but unless it is a special engine, (like a twin or radial) if I can cram a gas engine in it
it is going in....
chears

I do like the color yellow though....
But currently dealing with my TF (monokote covered) giant p-51...doing a gear mod....
I absolutly hate having ot pull this off.....the glue/color separates for mt hte clear plastic...
What a shtiy deal.... Yes monokote is shiny, and durable (as long as your not in frezzing weather)
But why, why, did they change the formula to this mess...?? never understand that one....
Worse part is, that TF/greatplanes/ Hobbico will never admit it, or even take in consideration, that hobbiest now hate
there product (I am using the word HATE here) Ultracote is the only way to go.... (unless there isn't any shrinking involve, and you
use the Trim solven to place design ontop of ultracote!!!

Can anyone with a TF Staggerwing please offer advice about the cowl. I installed mine as per the instructions with the three screws and a bit of fuel tube under the heads. After the first two flights the cowl has rubbed on the fuselage from vibration of the 160FX right where the edge of the cowl meets the fuse. It has rubbed enough in a couple of spots to take the paint away and leave a small mark in the fibreglass. After a couple of dozen flights it'll saw the nose off...
Anyone out there put anything between the two that doesn't look terrible but solves the problem. Appreciate any suggestions. Cheers,
Dave

Are these just the typical anti-vibration gromets for servos?

Well, as you know, it's designed around the 160 so that's what I used. Reports are that it flies very well. I used the OS metal mount w/ a 3/16" spacer behind it and mounted the engine in 15 or 20 minutes. But then I try to reduce the "hassle facter" as much as possible, so generally stick pretty close to what the mfr recommends.
If you'd like to come south a little you're welcome to take a look at my two. Neither is finished yet. Onr has the engine mounted and the wings finished, and the other one has the retracts installed.
Send me a PM if you'd like o take a look.
