Bill, I set my OV-10 up with the recommended travel on all of the controls, I found that you only needed 1/4" on the Ailerons, I set it up for 1/4" on low rate and 1/2" on the high rate this worked real well, also with the nose lowered it will take a longer take off run due to the wing being lower in the front, I am sure we have a lot of fellow flyer's that will have a commit about this, I would raise the nose up some and I did this helped on take off, I read one commit that the pilot had to reduce power because he was running out of runway and the airplane jumped off, the engines pull the nose down, flying off of pavement will help due to the speed.
ONE, very important note for the guys that are going to use the OS 25's with standard mufflers, you can not install the engines as shown on the plans, the wing will rest on the mufflers, you have to rotate the engines 45 degs, I found this out the hard way, and Rich does not say anything about this, unless he has added it to the notes.
Happy flying.

Thanks again for the info. I have already lowered the nose wheel (as much as I could) which raised the nose. The wing is still slanted down but not nearly as much as it was.
I'm going to use the rates you suggested.
Thanks
Bill

Bill,
Thanks for all the great pictures. As for in-cowl mufflers the J'tec or Slimline look good. the Slimline may be too thick, distance from cylinder to cowl..... The Jtecs look good the way you finished it out

I, wish that note was on the box when I got my OV-10, I went to Rich's office and picked up the kit, I told him at that time I was going to use OS engines and he did not mention the point of rotating the engine. Rich did give me new cowlings sooo I guess you can say he made it good. a lot of work was wasted, I am one that goes by the the instructions and the wing was just about the last item, but all is well the airplane turned out real well.
Happy flying

Bill, I have no idea how high the slimline mufflers are, I would recommend that you tack the mount in place with the engine screwed down and sit the wing on, I see that Rich is now putting a note on the box. As I was saying I built the airplane as the instructions stated, page by page and what I found when I sat the wing in place with the muffler on the engine, the wing rested on the muffler.
I, called Rich, and I was very unhappy, Rich stated that he could not test every engine on the market, this is true, BUT he had already been told about the problem by another customer, I had to rotate the engine rework the linkage and the firewall ended up with a bunch of holes.
The airplane is a kick to fly it looks good and I can not say anything bad about Rich, ofter than he should have said something to me when I was standing in his office about the problem with the muffler, and I see he has now taken care of that,
I, was only trying to give the other builders a heads up if they are planing to use OS engines and I am sure the same problem will happen with other engines, unless you change the mufflers or rotate the engines, I loved the little airplane once every thing was worked out, it really looks good with the gear up and it is very fast.
Best wishes and happy flying.

could someone enlighten me on the control throws and CG location for the 52" w/s OV10?
Also what is the engine mount setup? any offset or thrustline changes?

Do you have the arf kit, if so the right engine has a shim for left thrust or offset to the left what ever you want to call it, the left engine was o degs, control throws should be about 1/4" for all until you get to know the airplane, I do not remember the CG I thank it was 4" from the leading edge, someone should be able to get that for you.
Hope this will help KRANZGoldwings:
