WC,
I'm sure the 2.4 would be fine.
The only thing I would recommend it that you epoxy the tail section on for a gas engine. Before glueing the stab on, I did put a couple of hardwood rails in the tail section of the fuseluge. Just cut them to fit and glue them across. It beefed up that area pretty good. Again, only did this because of the gas engine. Maybe an overkill but better safe then sorry. Also, attach the rudder to the fin and check to ensure it is straight. Mine leans to the left a little. I failed to check before glueing the hinges in, will be the first and last time I fail to check
It will be ok thou, that is why we have trim
I used the metel hinges supplied but also used 2 extra CA hinges on the ailerons/elevator and one on the rudder. I did seal the control surfaces. Also put some packing tape on the wing tube to eliminate the play on the fuseluge side.
Everything else is pretty much straight forward but I am sure I will have other pointers when installing the engine.
I'm hoping mine will be less then 16lbs and don't have to add any weight to balance. I plan on balancing at 6.75.
The taurus I am putting on is 5.87in long so as of right now, I don't have to modify the engine box.
I used a 1/4 scale pilot and it was too tall to fit. So, instead of risking cutting and screwing up my $30 pilot to fit, I cut out the canopy and it sits down about an 1/2in. Its all foam so it was easy. Then I used black trim tape to even up the cut around the pilot.
Will send some more pictures as soon as I finish with engine. Will be out of town til the 10th.
Happy building/flying all.

:spinnyeye After looking at some of the recent photos I have a couple of suggestions. On my Extra I used the Rocket City control horns all around. On the rudder the stock location is to high. When I used 3D rates and the rudder was all the way to one side the control horn hit the elevator when it was in the down position.
The solution is to simply shorten the R.C. control horns. This also reduces throw. I had to install a (Dubro) large heavy duty control horn on the servo to allow 3D.
I hope this saves you some frustration

The zinger prop worked really good. How ever a few of at the club that i fly at have the 1.60 and we have all decided that the best all around prop is the mejzlik 18x8. It does everything really well. It was worth the 37 dollars for the prop. You will notice that it dose everything better that you have on your list.
