Well, got the new Eindecker up in the air Sunday... Put 5 flites on it. It took a little more work to get this one going then my last, but I have to say I think this one flys better then the last. Chevelle... Wait till you see the slow turns with this one...
I can keep it in a 100 foot box doing slow flat stall turns... Looks great. Can't wait till we get them up together...
Not that beggers aren't pushy, and free isn't great>>> and so are you Chevelle (great that is), but hows my video of the WACO coming?>>>

Well, finally after much effort. Chevelle and I got to fly this weekend. I must say it was the most fun I have had in a while. We spent today and a little while yesterday. Flying in formation doing different manuvers together with the Eindeckers... Most commented on great they looked in the air together... We even did a few landings and take offs that looked good. It's fun hearing people say how great they look or hearing an OOwww or ahhhh from someone... And even a WOW that was Close from Chevelle... LOL Had a great weekend and one of these days I'm sure Chevelle will bless us with a video... Will take some time for use to get it right... Not as easy at it looks. still smiling form all the fun...

if anyone reads the prior post re: ailerons, i just flew mine for the first time and anwered myself. this plane flies great! tends to lift Lot. i may lift the trailing edge a little to change the incidence. Anyone else find this a problem? im also runnin a 52 Magnum 4 stroke thogh with a 12x7 prop! i was surprised at the outcome of the "cheap looking" pilot and gun though. i thought at first of not using them. glad i did. i'll definetly agree that between the cost and everything else this model is definetly worth it. i just built the Elder 40 and they're pretty much identical. just alot more heart in the elder. this plane was considered the guinea pig prior to fying my elder. but i think i'll enjoy it alot.. thanks to al for the forewarning re: fuel tank etc... i was one step ahead of it. i got the plane tuesday 6/1/04 and flew it today!! time to rest!!!!!!!!

Mine is unarmed, strictly recon
I like how the pilot came out but I felt the gun wasn't worth the effort it would take to make it look decent. I guess I should have done what Lee did and spring for a Williams Bros version. At least then when we fly together, I have a chance to defend myself

hey chevelle, i flew myine today with the magnum52, it wants to climb alot which is expected with the torque and all but this engine is not peaking out. arond 9000 rpms and that pushing it. i may still be a little rich. im running a 12x7 zinger for a prop. rec is a 12x5. do you think this makes sense why the engine is underperforming?? im not very knowledgeable with props! thanks

Hi Airmaniac
Myself and Chevelle fly together at the same field. He is an engineer and his knowlege is beyond me by far in the tecnical side of it, but I have been running a magunm 61fs for over a yr in mine.
I have a Magnum/ ASP 61 in my Eindecker. Which is the bored out 52fs. Basiclly I have just a little more HP then you. I am runing a 12X7 groupner on mine using 15% Nitro and I'm getting 9800 RPM's. I could get up to 10 if I pushed it. I've run countless gallans of fuel through mine. I would say you are just a little over Proped and loading up the engine. If you are trying to fly scale I would go with a Groupner paddle style prop and drop to a 12X5 or 11X6 groupner, that is unless your looking for speed. It will give you tons of torque even at low RMPs. I fly mine really slow in a small box and can do some really great stuff with it close to the ground because I have the torque to pull out if I get into trouble.
The zinger prop is a good prop, but the Groupner paddle will gove you tons more pull with the same RPM's or even less RPM's. The groupner cost a little more, but on a four stroke they are worth it.
I guess really before the question can truly be answered we would have to know how and what you are looking to do with the plane.

I was running Powermaster YS 20/20 and my motor ran great on it... Had tons of power... I just switched to 15% Cool Power. My motor runs great on it. Just there is a defanate power loss going to the cool power from Power Master. In my case didn't need the power and saved $8 a gallon over the Power Master. Try a Groupner prop. I think you will love the prop.

OK you guys and your pictures, do you really have to post them? Now I have gone an ordered my Eindecker, I can no longer put my car in the hanger.
Just have a couple of questions, you might be able to help on. First I have a Saito .65GK would that be to much engine, and how would it balance? No one has said much about balance, adding lead [:@] etc. Next I saw the posts on the fuel tank did you all just change the cap or did most put in a new tank? This plane looks really cool, and I have no WarBird in my fleet. [8D]

Chevelle has a 40 LA in his and he flys fine with it... On windy days into the wind can be tricky with the smaller motors.

It is a tempation to over power these planes. Resist it if you can. Personally, I think the perfect motor would be a .46 two stroke or the closest equivalent four stroke.
Even with my 40LA, the plane flies terrific. If that is what you have, do not hesitate to use it. It can perform all the scale maneuvers. It certainly doesn't have a long vertical climb but it definitely has enough to be very enjoyable and appropriate.
As far as the wind goes, even with the 40LA, there is enough power to get up, realize that there is too much wind to make it enjoyable and to safely get back down again. Afterall, it is a high flat-bottomed wing trainer and so flying on windy days isn't much fun.
Picture? Don't foget the movie!! >>[link=http://www.wings-of-valor.net/uploads/E3_03_250.wmv]"The Red Baron Flies Again"[/link]

1/2 oz of wieght is what i added to the tail with a 52 magnum. as far as the fuel tank goes, just make sure you snug everything nicely and silicone it. i had no probs with mine after that.
