CMP Cessna 182 build
Wow, happy to see this thread survive over 15 years. Has anyone else found goodies in their boxes? My airplane came with a ram strobe lighting system and a GP spinner.
Got some initial work done last night. Read through pages of previous posts and found an old Top Flite Cessna 182 nose gear and an old steering arm to replace the cheap supplied one. Also swapped out the mains and used different axles because the supplied ones broke (stripped) while tightening.
I'm already thinking about re-engineering the elevator and rudder linkages because so many other people on this thread have already paid the ultimate sacrifice due to an inferior design. Guess we'll see what transpires as I get closer to that section.
Currently deciding on which DLE20 I'm going to put in this plane. I have both rear and side exhaust engines.
both offer scale in-cowl muffler containment So I suppose it's going to depend on which engine is easier to hook up throttle linkages. ???

Price...omg...
Reading back through previous posts, others only paid $229.00 for this airplane. Unfortunately I wasn't so lucky:
At least I got a couple free accessories from the previous owner 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Although at this price, I feel he should have at least kissed me beforehand 🤣🤣🤣
Oh well, I have the plane and happy with my purchase!

Progress on the Cessna
Yesterday got the engine
Yesterday mounted the DLE 20, hacked up the spinner to house the 16-8 prop and made about 15 trips downstairs to dremel the exhaust opening. I'm using a nose gear from a precious crashed C 182 and it fit perfectly.
Building this plane is fairly straight forward. Even though the assembly manual was missing, still managed to fiqure out what parts go where before I found where to download it.
If anyone is considering this plane, I've found it built well aside from the crummy paint job applied at the factory. I'll probably re-paint it this winter.

Cessna 182 build goes on
I couldn't stand the stock color of this plane and have been working on a new color scheme. I went with blue black and silver. Here's a pic of the recent stripping old paint.
Also: Thank you to several previous posters in this forum who have shared how they got their Robart nose gear to fit the supplied wheel pants, I got mine fitted this weekend
5-14-23:
All I need now is to finish repainting the pants, wing tips and apply some striping and this girl will be ready!
MAYBE this forum will hit the 20 year mark!!! 🤣🤣
