I haven't tried that yet Bruce. Others have posted here of doing just this. I don't have the cajones.

Imagine taking a nice drink of beer, and then holding out your hand and setting the beer on an imaginary table in front of you, it just kind of floats there until you are ready to take it back for another much needed quenching of the arid throat and gums,, but whats this,,,[X(] the beer starts rising over your head and then shoots vertical into the air, gotta love the T_ _ _ T hand launch.

Posting the 60 maiden of my friend, and his $900.00 3 year project of the Tripe cart wheel crash Tuesday,,[X(][X(][&:][:@] so look for it tomorrow night.

Wish I had the nerve to do that Bruce - no-doubt it would look fantastic! My Twist has a Saito 82 at the front-end so there's plenty of power on-tap . . . . and with some practice I "think" that I could let-go and just hover her around for a while even, seeing as she hovers really well. But every time I think I'll do it I end-up chickening-out. Maybe I should get someone else to launch (or should this be "let-go?") the first time, so that I can see what my Twist will do at full throttle and without any control in-put for a couple of seconds (whilst I get my thumbs onto the sticks)

Tony

PS: I "think" I can do most things!

Archer....I hate to say it, but I too kinda mounted my engine too close to the fire wall[&:]...It is not soo close I have to remount the engine, but I should have mounted her slightly further to the front..I need to fiddle now to fill her up, but oh well....I am glad you like the flex cable from Dubro....I had that cable in my hand in the LHS since I too thought my throttle cable was a lil bit too stiff to slide nicely in the tube...you kinda convinced me here to get one of these cables...I think I need to make a trip to the store tomorrow to get some supplies...

DownT...with such a Lake, I think you need to mount some floats on your T _ _ _ T my friend.....put those fishing poles aside and get some airtime in....your plane will love you if you do

Okay,,, as promised Kids,

The T_ _ _ T 60 Maiden is 4 seperate mini clips, this link is the take off

Tri Plane Crash [&:][:@]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8h51_4ifgk

Feel free to browse around the waldopepperaxel site on youtube, there is a great video of "The Click" Hovering around as well.

DownT, We are going to drop our pontoon boat in the lake this week, after looking at your pics I can't wait to get on our lake,, we have been Busy busy busy, this is the latest I've ever put her in the water,, but man you have a B.E.A.UTIFUL Scene going on there, no wonder your always at peace.

I'm thinking of taking my goldberg floats and strapping them on the T _ _ _ T 40 this year, has anyone else tried floats on the T _ _ _ T ??? but that will just add 1 more element to the lbs of glue, nothing like the T_ _ _ T with Seaweed and Saratoga lake water saturating the wood.

Waldo,

Ouch, that Tri-Plane crash was painful to watch. It looked to me like he just needed some right rudder? Hard to speculate from a short clip. Nice Twist maiden video!

Down,

Beautiful pictures of the lake. What are you pulling out of there these days?

Hello. Can someone please give me a prop suggestion for the Hangar 9 twist .40 ARF. I have a Magnum 52 XLS 2 stroke engine on it now with the same 10X6 break in prop and it flies a little too fast. Can someone give me a suggestion for the correct prop for this plane/engine combination?

Thanks

dabro 15, I would say a 12x4 or a 12.25x3.75 APC. I'd go with the one that gave the quickest transition from mid-range to full throttle and vertical pull. I don't run a two stroke on my Twist so maybe someone else that does can give you a better suggestion. Welcome to the Twist thread dabro 15.

Hey all, I just finished to install the .61 fx on my Twist 40. Went to the hobbys store and they only had the apc 13 x 4W in stock. Should I use the 13 x 4W in stead of the 13 x 4 ?

young99,........that'll work.

dabro15.........12.25x3.75 APC is what I would recommend for that engine.

peace

My Twist 40 has a Magnum 52 xls on it using an apc 12x4 prop - it's a good combination.

Okay I think ill go with the 12x4 or the 12.25x3.75. They are relatively the same thing as far as performance right?

Performance is about the same. I feel the 12x4 spools up a little faster due to being lighter but both are good props.

I started out at 4.25 , got use to it and moved it back to 4 3/8 s. So far so good. Well probably end up at 4 1/2

Welcome to the new guys, glad to have you aboard! I agree with all the advice given, including the prop and cg recommendations. My CG is at 4 3/4", but it is quite tail heavy and when it ge't low on feel, it get's pretty hard to control. Makes for great hovering and flat spins though.

Hey all, I just finished putting the gear in my .40 size twist this morning and took it to the flying field this afternoon! I must say WHAT A BLASTTTTTT had a little problem tuning the .46 motor for the first flight so the maiden ended as a dead stick.... It glides better than I ever expected too! It didnt want to come down at all!! For the over all aerobatics of the plane...... well lets just say im surprised I havent snapped the wing in pieces yet... haha It kicked around really good and i was on low rates as well I really couldnt believe it!

Total today including the maiden flight.... I have 6 flights on it and im taking it out again tomorrow after noon if the weather is good!

I was useing a master airscrew 3 blade prop to start and it worked alright then one of my flying buddys said i should try a 11-6.... i had an 11-5 2 blade with me and so i put that on there and WOW what an improvement! I went straight to the 4 1/2 inch for the balance point, and love it!

Happy flying!
Jon

Cool to hear jon. Since you went to 4 1/2 I`ll give it a try.
I went straight to high rates and used 50% expo and it was`nt to bad. but on high rates it well do things so fast it`s a blur.

Hey all.. I've been out of the Twist scene for almost a year now and the remains of one still sits in my closet.. I have a fuse, and two wings.. As I think of resurrecting it, the consideration of fabricating a bipe has come to mind.. anyone have any experience of a Twist Bipe?

That is an interesting thought., but I have a felling that 2 big fat wings are going to need a pretty good power plant to pull them. Might be to much of a good thing. What the heck , give it a shot and post some vidios.

Hello T_ _ _ T'ers. I have been drooling over this plane for several days now and I am getting very close to taking the plunge. I have been bugging the snot out of one of the regular posters here so I figured it was time to give him a break. I've been doing a lot of reading on this thread and the first part but it's HUGE!

Since I don't have a LHS and I have to order everything I am trying to make sure I have everything I need (to include spares) when I place my orders. I am planning on O.S. .61FX and it looks like a 13x4 prop is what is recommended here. Is there a preference among the flyers as to wood or APC or??? What size spinner do I need to order? Hmmmm......something else??? Can't remember at the moment, it's still early and I haven't had my coffee yet. I'm sure there will be more questions when I wake up.

Thanks in advance!

Oh, now I remember, What are the advantages/disadvantages for 6V RX battery over 4.8V?
