Insanemoondoggie, I like your attitude; close ranks and continue the attack. Which .60 did you get, or did you mean the new .62 Saito?

Damn, Bummer, You have the right attitude though, Come back swinging (Bigger & Better). The last two that I have buggered up wasn't my fault. SOMEONE planted a tree right in my landing path(stuck the fourstar in it) & the other SOMEONE put a telephone pole right in the spot where I make my low pass over the runway(smacked it with a wing tip).
If I ever find that someone there's gonna be trouble. [sm=punching.gif]

Just a movie clip of the T_ _ _ T,,, not to exciting,,, but a few clips none the less, there are a few other T_ _ _ T clips right with it also, the 3 posted this week were all flights we flew this week after rebuilding the smashed T_ _ _ T 2 weeks ago, Now all we need is a camera man so we can actually follow the planes around instead of setting the camera on a table and trying to stay in the frame were not looking in. Waldo,
How the heck do you get your monokote repairs to look so darn good? Do you have all three colors and make the swirls? Repairs look good. I will download your new video’s tonight
Just saw the 2 video’s. Walk of shame is no good, particularly when you have it on video.
I like the hover with the Cap zipping by. What a sweet camera angle with valley off in the distance and the thick tree line off in the distance. Felt like it was early morning with the birds singing and the low light. What a nice place to fly.

To tell you the truth Adam I get very lucky with the Mono-cote results sometimes, after a crash its harder because of extra glue build ups and protrusions that didn't exsist before then, [:'(] It took some years of doing it, to start to make things look great, (No seams, no iron marks, Etc....) I've been a builder since I was 8, and I was mono-coting as soon as it was introduced, I use to do all the rice paper covering and that was pretty easy, messy, and great smelling, but time consuming waiting for the dope to dry, No,, I wasn't wet,,,
I must have had a great teacher, He was called Dad, and then my own will of getting sick of looking at bad covering jobs really forced me to follow ancient methods of Patients,,, yes patients is the biggest factor.
I was told,,,, Take your time, Don't watch the clock, when all is done, your plane will rock!!!
I think that was a Confusious saying[sm=tired.gif] NOT, that was my Rock'n'roll dad.
This job looks pretty good up close, but the Pics make it look fantastic, I had part of the old wing from T_ _ _ T # 1, so I cut the Yellow and Purple mono-cote off that to put on the repairs of this one, the Swirls are pretty easy as those swirls actually peel off pretty easily, so they can usually be saved, if you look close you can see a break inbetween the swirls on the side of the fuse where the fuse suffered a great Implosion on the Mid air, and a great explosion once she hit the ground, I guess When I re-heated the two halfs of swirls back together, I used a little too much heat and both ends shrank a little too much, so now they don't meet,
other then that, I was very Lucky that it came back out looking so good.
the tail feathers and the ailerons were crushed up pretty good, as a matter of fact the Mono-cote wasn't even torn, but held all the pieces inside like a body bag of balsa sticks, I had to try and find a way to put new hinges in, all the hinges were cut in half but glued into the regular spots, so now each surface has less hinges, as I had to go inbetweeen the originals, not too much room, and they have a few curves to the way the wood was bent and broken in the crash, but all the spots I built up when I first bought the Kit, were all still glued in place, oh except the Landing gear that completely vanished from the face of the earth, and there is no crack at all in the normal behind the cockpit spot, so building up those soft areas really helped a lot.
This is why Waldo loves Epoxy and Balsa Ply, it cost me all of 1/4 bottle of 5 minute Epoxy to get her back in the sky.
How can you argue with a repair price like that, and it flys great also, sometimes you just get lucky, for this time I was very lucky, other times you may have to off set your trims to get em to fly straight again in such a major repair, But as long as it flys, I'm a Happy man.

And yes its an awesome place to fly, very pretty indeed, we all really want to get our runway in better condition though, its bumpy as hell in most spots, which plays havock on our landing gear and tail wheels,[&:][:@][

Hi all,
Almost ready with the Twist .40, can't wait to fly it. Gonna have some sick power with a Tower .75 in the nose.

Sorry guys, I'm still in the stone age, no video camera yet.
I will get one soon though as I plan on doing some of that FPV flying.

Hi Guys. My Mojo's a 40 with a Saito .82 up-front. I love flying this model as it's so "chuckable," and the engine has more that enough power for it. It will hover at a little over half-throttle and will go vertical until the fuel runs-out using less than full throttle. But . . . . I can't get the model to slow-down quite as much as I'd occasionally like to do (for "reversing on the breeze," etc)
The engine's tick-over speed is very slow, and I know that the 14x4W prop isn't helping me with the slow-speed end of the envelope - but I like the way this prop makes the engine sound so leisurely and it seems a perfect match in all other respects, apart from not allowing really slow flight occasionally
I have a brand-new Saito .72 looking for a home and was thinking that this may have enough power to give me all I need at the high-speed/torque end of the envelope, and at the same time maybe it'll allow really slow flight at t'other end (with maybe a 13 x 4 or 12.25 x 3.75 prop?)
Is anyone using a .72 on a Mojo 40? If so:
How's the vertical?
Where's your throttle at the hover?
What prop are you using
Thanks,
Tony

Hey T.W.
I use the 70 Os 4 stroke
Vertical about 3/4 throttle maybe less,
Hover between 1/4 and 1/2
14 x 4 for 3D 12 X 8 for speed.
I can Harrier all day with the 14 x 4 she slows down to nothing, just find that sweet spot.
I'm sure others will voice there love combinations also.
No flying this weekend, [
]we were running the Soap Box Derby.
which is cool & fun anyway.
Movies next week

hey guys, im just getting into 3D flying and i got a Twist 40 at my hobby shop today for $80. they had a sale going on so i couldnt pass it up. i have an O.S. 46 FX engine that im going to put into it. i want to be able to eventually perfom vertical hovering and i was wondering if that would be possible with this plane/engine. i will definately post vids when i fly it.

Try a 12x3.75 APC. on the OS.46 for 3D and hovering. A friend of mine has his set up this way and it does a good job.
I have a Saito .72 and 14x4w APC prop on mine. What a blast.

You'll find it's best with the APC 12.25x3.75 prop. many different combinations of prop/CG have been researched on this thread since 2004 when it first started. Personal flying preferences might have you change props as you become used to the T___T's flight characteristics.
I'm using it on my PnP Evo.46. Keep CG at 5" to start and fly on low rates (set throws like the build manual suggests) for your first flight. you'll be hooked like all of us on this thread are at what this little airplane can do...
I also have a Saito.72 on my second T---T, and switch between a APC 14x4 on windy days and a 12.25x3.75 when it's calm. you ought to hear it with the smaller prop as it's idleing as it flys by. . . then a quick snap to vert with just a little over half throttle and she heads for the clouds. . . .

This was the best day with my twist. After that, I bought and built real 3d planes, Mojo's, Sabre's, and anything from kalteisen, and OMP.

It's official as of Friday afternoon, I'm a Twist head.
Put it together in about 8 hours and used low throws and it was real touchy so I came down a little on the ailerons. Only needed 3 clicks on the ailerons and it was flying hands off. I put the OS all the way forward on the mounts and have a Dubro 3 ounce brass chrome spinner and a 6V 2500NiMH on top of the fuel tank up front. Using the Sullivan tail bracket in the rear.
I'm around 4.25 on the CG.
I'm using an OS46FX w/ a Tower Hobbies muffler spinning a 12.25X3.75 and running 20/20 cool power and Futaba 3050 digitals @ 6V.
The plane is very fast with unlimited vertical.
I can fit the twist in my Ford Focus wagon sideways with the wing on.
Thank You All for your advice and recommendations.

p.s. The wing came damaged due to delivery and Horizon sent me a new one and didn't ask for the old one back.

You might try a 13x6 or 14x4 with the saito 72 - those are the props I found to work best. With the 12.25x3.75 it is under propped a bit.

Yeah, I 1st used the 12x4 two days ago and today I tried the 12.25 .............but since I'm not a 3d'er and didn't have the calliones to hover yet, I can't tell the difference.......Rome wasn't built in 3 days so let me get back to you on that one......... either way the plane is a friggin' rocket at full throttle.....even at 1/2 throtttle I'm looking for the toilet paper.........with my paranoid dumb thumbs .........I'll keep you posted.........

root, I'm in awe of the cahonies you do have in resting that plane on the back of the couch! If you're a married individual you're taking your life in your hands if the wife ever gets a glance at that stunt! wow!!
By the way............it helps to buy another T _ _ _ T and have it all ready to go and in the hanger..............that way there's not quite the "emotional investment" in the plane that's flying........and you can quickly advance into 3D bliss!
Peace,
Downtrodden
