On the first flight of GP Pitts the spinner bracket failed. One side broke off at the base of the backplate. G38 with an 18/10 prop. Everything looked smooth and felt smooth on the ground. Prop was plenty big so excessive rpm was not a problem. No harm done so will use the old tried and proven setup nextime. Weight was exactly 15#. Servos were up front, not in the tail, and two servos on the ailerons with push rods to the upper ailerons. Trim was good with forward CG. I'll move a battery back under the servos and that should help the CG. The landing gear is not going to stand up very well and you can see it spreading out just taxing around. Will use a spring and cable to put more tension on the gear . With bigger engines this could become a real problem. Landing was easy with good float. What this plane needs is a good hot 2 cycle engine like a Moki 1.8 or 2.10. I didn't want the mess of glow fuel and a test bed for my G38s so will leave it at that for now. To bad we can't see more landing gears like whats under the Hanger nine Pizzaz.

Alsez, what is your landing gear made of? I have seen photos of the Pitts on Great Planes web site and it shows wire gear. I just received mine and it has a very nice aluminum gear already painted. Maybe it was a recent deisgn change?

Edamm The gear on the Pitts is the standard aluminum strut. Its covered with a slab of balsa to look like the gears on the real bird. Not nearly heavy enough for a 15# plane. I strung a wire and spring arrangement on mine after a few flights and it has worked well.

JBFLIER The 38 does a nice job. Plane is a little nose heavy. It does have a strange habit of showing pitch changes in level flight, something I would expect if tail heavy. Checked the incidences and thought that the problem might be lack of positive in stab but that was not the case. Both wings have positive also, usually only the top wing is positive, bottom -0-. Snaps are crisp and knife edge very good with no pulling to the top or bottom. I'm very glad I pulled in the gear with a spring. The gear is way to weak for a 15# plane.

Hi Alsez: Could you email me a pic of how yo did the landing gear.
I am glad you have found all these things for us. Over all, is the CG were they ask you to put it? And do you like the plane? Anyway if you could send me a pic of the way you set up the gear
I would appreciate it. Thank you, David--------
