I have my Avistar all setup to go.
I have all the throws set for max.
The problem is in the Aileron section.
I have full throw on one side only.
Both up and down.
I spent several hours adjusting the ball links.
I then resorted to removing the servo control arm. and repositioned it on the shaft
I can get even throws of 3/8th on an inch.
I need 3/8th down and a half inch up.
But when I try for the half inch all I can do is get it on one side.
I removed the wing and saw that one of the rods that come out from the bottom seemed to have a restricted area of movment.
I cleaned out the hole and that gave a bit more of up and down on that side of the wing.
It seems that the one aileron does not have enough movment.
If i keep the 3/8th setting I have nice even throws.
I still can keep my trim nice and even and thats not a problem.
I'm installing the 46 engine on it and want all the control I can get.
Seems the one side is binding.
Any suggestions?

I would set them at 3/8" and fly it before you decide to tear into it. You might find that 3/8" is plenty.

Does it have one servo or two? If it is two, is your electronic mixing set to control the second servo?

If one, check it with the wing off. Is it still binding?

Do you have the control horn on the same place on both ailerons? If it is forward or back on one, it will not move the surface the same. Also, is it on the same spot on the servo arm?

One other thing, take the controll rods off the ailerons and make sure the hinges are loose on both. you may have gotten glue on one side and locked the hinges. Just a though.

Hope one of those helps. Let me know what system you are using if one of those don't. (2 servos or one)

Seems like one is not right or was not installed right.
This is an RTF.
Only 1 servo and no binding.
I can get what I want if I push the short rod with my finger but the servo is not strong enough to push that hard.
Maybe toss out a few $$$ for a stronger servo?
Everything else is 100% A-OK and the covering is BEAUTIFUL!
I don't want to tear that wing apart so maybe stick with the 3/8th?
I don't think thats enough for the Avistar with a 46 LX engine on it

The book says 3/8th down and 7/16th UP and thats with a OS 40.
I have the 46 LX on it and I want it to do some really fast snap rolls.
Guess theres nothing like building your own

If I'm thinking of the same Avistar that you are, it's a high wing trainer correct? It's not made for fast axial rolls and it definitely will not snap roll no matter what you do to the control surfaces. You'll need to move up to a low wing sport plane for these things.

Well I read a lot about the Avistar with a 46LX on it and it could very well be a lot of BS that was going around.
Anyway heres what I found.
Must have been some glue where that short rod comes from under the wing.
The new dremel tool got it's first job.
I have my 1/2 inch now but my trim has changed.
Heres what I have on trim.
Right one up 1/4 : and left is zero down and vice versa.
So it loks like I have to play with those ##$#$% nylon adjustments again LOL.
But i'm holding off untill the GOLDE N CLEVIS ones come in the mail.
No such thing as it can't be fixed.

My Avistar instructions say 3/8" up and 3/8" down for the Ailerons.....

I had the same probel with them being uneven. I just moved the control rod of the aileron with the weakest movement out one hole on the servo arm.

Now I get my 3/8" up & down on both ailerons.

BTW.... did you balance your Avistar to the recommended C.G. yet?

The CG is all set.
As for the ailerons I think the factory says to use a round servo disk so that one control arm will pull one side UP MORE and less down on the other side and vice versa.
The book said to use the second hole in from the end.
I used the holes at the far end of the servo arm but had to make them bigger.
The book says 3/8 down and 7/16 UP.
I just have to readjust my trims.

Thats the funny thing... The instructions for the ARF version and the RTF version have different control throws...

Here a pic of what I had to do to achive equal throws.

Aileron Servo

I forgot to tell you that I set my CG back a full 1 inch from what the book calls for.
Also the engine was appx 4* down so I adjusted that for 2* UP.
You may want to check yours out.
