Newbie covering question. Please help

Hi guys. I was using my heat gun to smooth the covering on my new Hanger9 P47 ARF and in a curved spot behind the cockpit it pulled up and is now stretched flat rather than hugging the curvature. It is hard to notice bit I know its there and its bothering me. This is my first airplane and I would like to do it right. What is the best way to go about fixing this?

It sounds like the covering pulled away from the formers underneath. You will have to take your iron and use the tip to adhere the covering back to the formers underneath. This is your first airplane? Please get an experienced instructor to fly it first! Depending on your natural abilities, you may very well crash.

you'll likely need to heat the area & then add some pressure to force the covering into shape/position for a few seconds while it cools. I use a cotton glove or an old sock (preferably clean!) to keep from burning my fingers while doing this.

Hey guys, I just started working on my hanger 9 P47. Can anyone tell me what the CA hinge looks like? I have located the flap hinges but not the CA hinge? Are they included in this package? Perhaps they are a commonplace item the average plane hobbiyist has around the shop I am unaware of?
Also, The instructions say to remove the tape holding the aileron and flap to the wing but they are not attached to the wing, and I cannot see any tape?

Must I cut a more robust opening in the three sections of the aileron for these hinges to slide in Does the tpin set the correct depth for these hinges? WHat material are these hinges made of?

Yes sir it is my first but I have flown/build helis for quite some time.
Ok, I have found the hinges and I am using t- pins to space the aileron distance from the wing and There should not be much of a gap betwen the aileron and wing. Perhaps 1/32 of an inch?

Before I go any farther I want to tell you that I want you to be successful and I do not want you to crash your plane.
What I am about to tell you is something that you do not want to hear, but it something you need to know.
A couple of others have touched on it but I will go ahead and tell you straight up the P47 is not a beginner's plane, and it is probably not even a good second plane.
I know you have spent a lot of money, and the plane is really cool but the fastest least expensive path to successfully flying this plane is to buy yourself a trainer, join the local RC club and get an instructor to teach you how to fly.

To address the question you asked about CA hinges ... here is a link so you can see what they look like http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXK110&P=ML there are some different types but this is typical .... most of the time you do not have to make the slit bigger for the CA hinge to fit .... the T-pin keeps the hinge from being pushed into the wing or control surface .... remove the T-pin before applying the CA (cyanoacrylate adhesive (CA glue))

No apologies necessary my friend, I appreciate the concern. I have installed my first aileron! The gap is consistent with the instructions with about 1/64th along the length of the surface and 1/32 at the tip!!

helis are different please get help! you will be in the air 10 seconds. i would get a trainer and learn to fly on that then a 4 star 40 (tail dragger) then the p-47 will be a nice fit. we dont want to see all your hard work trashed

Since Pete is a RC heli pilot I figure he knows not to just go out and try to fly the plane solo and to get help from a qualified airplane guy with the first couple of flights. After one or two flights on the buddy box he will know if he can make the jump to this plane or if he needs to go the trainer route. He is new to planes but not RC flying so he is well aware of the consequences of what he is doing.

thanks everyone I appreciate the words. I've taken my friends gasser plane for a spin before ( don't remember what kind) and I did fine. Also I've been flying planes on aerofly deluxe for about 2 years. So like I said I'm not worrying about burying this ship or anything. I say worst case scenario is a hard landing.
