Default Wildhare 'Baby' Extra 260

I am a builder. But there are NO Extra 260 kits or plans in the 120 four stroke range. I found that Wildhare RC offers an ARF in that range. It is nicely covered, and I know Wildhare has a good rep, but I am more intrested in performance.

http://www.wildharerc.com/products/E...260/index.html

I built the GP Extra 300 60 size, and love it. Saito 125 for power at 7 1/2 pounds. It's a freaking rocket ship! The WH Extra 260 is 9 - 10 pounds, and is a bit bigger in wingspan and fuse length. I'd like to go 125 again, but fear it will lack in performance. If that is really the weight, I think a 140 would be a better fit.

Anyone have experience with this plane? Thanks in advance.

there are some threads in the Wildhare sub-forums and the 125 4 stroke is a perfect match for this airplane. According to all who have it it is almost unreal light for its size so a 120 is more than enough to fly it.

good luck

hi,
i have the baby extra but am slowly building it due to an engine purchase fiasco. got an engine now and working on it. i like this plane. this is my second 25 percenter and i think it is outright gorgeous. did you go to the wildhare support forum here on rcu? there is a lot of write and discussion on the baby series. some with saitos 125, some with os 120 ax some with brilleli, evolution and a 3w-28 lots of photos on various assembly and modifications and servo locations due to the various engine sizes and weights.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6430183/tm.htm the 260 thread

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6753245/tm.htm the edge thread

i.m.o. they are both very very similar in construction and design. go through those photos and discussions and hopefully something will help?

I put an os 1.6 on mine and it was just the right amount of overpowered for me It seems like it would be light on power with only a saito 125 for 3d work. The 3d profiles running saito 125s are only in the 7 pound range, the 10 pounders are running saito 180 or os 1.6 mostly. I would go with at least a ys 110s or saito 150 if I wanted a 4stroke glo on it. The problem with 4 stroke glo on this airframe seems to be more vibration issues since its built so lite, which is why I went with the 2 stroke. I originaly had an evolution 26gt2 with a pitts muffler and the pull out was lacking, the OS fixed that little problem right up

Im getting ready to put a set of hanger 9 27% extra 260 wings on my baby edge. Both my wings got nuked in a little accident with a run up table and a bad fail safe setting [:@] Not sure how its gonna turn out but I have the stuff laying around so I might as well give it a try. With the 1.6 and a couple hundred more sq" of wing it might be really sweet if it flys right lol.

Deadeye,

I just sold mine. It had an OS 120AX 2 stroke swinging and APC 17X6 prop. Unlimited vertical. Very nice flying plane.

Jeez, I haven't felt this way about an ARF, EVER! I am half way through the big thread in the Giant Scale forum. I would really like to take the plain Saito 125 out of my Extra 300, and replace it with a golden knight. It would match my covering perfect! I could then use the plain 125 in the Extra 260.

I emailed Tom and asked him if it was possible to get one ARC.

i cant remember which wildhare thread it was. someone took a 30 percent and stripped the covering off it (think it was the extra or the edge not the sukhoi). presented pics of the nekkid rabbit and then covered it in red bull scheme i.i.r.c.

found it

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_68..._2/key_/tm.htm

dont know if it helps with your ideas on covering
