Hi - I am building an ARF Hobbico Superstar 40. I have set up the servos as shown in the manual, however when I turn the rudder the nose wheel does not turn. I CAN turn the nose wheel manually and it is free and not snagged up in anything. When I use the servo to turn the wheel, the push rod just bends. How do you fix this?
I was thinking of attaching a block of wood to a bulkhead in order to straighten the path of the pushrod. Would this help? The problem is that the left side of the plane is already slightly heavier than the right and the block would have to go on the left side to straighten the path, thereby making my balancing problem worse...

You said it's not binding, so that's good. Is the pushrod in a sleve? If not, you could slide the pushrod through a sleve and that should help. You could also switch to a larger diameter pushrod.

The pushrod has to 'bend' around the fuel bottle so a larger diameter one is not an option. It IS in a sleeve but the sleeve and rod just bend when I move the servo ..

I had a similar problem in my old trainer. I used some scrap balsa to block the path of the push rod where I saw it bending. Basically I made small U shaped blocks and CA'd them in place.
I also had to re-align the two mounts where the nose wheel shaft attached to the firewall (it was tight).
Hope this helps,
