YES! by all means replace the plastic quick connect control horns. I had one break in flight on an aileron, managed to get down safely. After checking the others, they all had stress fractures and it was only a matter of time (soon) before they broke. That hard plastic just doesn't hold up to the Texas heat and stress from a plane this size.
My tail section is removable (like instructions) and it's still doing fine. (haven't had any reason to remove it yet)

Ditto on the landing gear. Although you can easily make your own for less than $10 buy buying it from home impv store and cutting with a table saw.
Fixed the Laser in as long as it took the epoxy to dry.
It seem that the pins in the rudder post are wearing. No big deal but keep an eye on it.

I'm trying to use a Zenoah G62 on the Kangke Laser 2000. Because the carburetor is side mounted on this engine, it will be protruding outside of the cowl on the right side. I'm having trouble figuring out how to cut the cowl to be able to install it. It looks like a slot will have to be cut in the cowl more than 1/2 its length in order to clear the carburetor?? Can the carb be mounted closer to the engine so that it clears the cowl?
Advice from anyone using this plane/engine combination would be appreciated. A photo of the G62 is shown below.

Black and Decker Piranah (carbide tipped teeth ) same as u use for pressure treated lumber and it cuts easier than lumber. Aluminum cuts better with coarse blades as the chips dont clog the teeth.
Watch the flying chips and Definately wear goggles.
Treat it as you would a piece of wood. Goes very fast.
I have used this blade for demolition of aluminum machinery (car washes) and cut as deep as the blade will go literally hundreds of cuts both on table and handheld.

Back when I was putting in sweat equity in building my new house, I'ved used those special 7-1/4" circular saw blades, which were meant to be used by remodelers to survive embedded nails, screws and metal plates when sawing trhough existing framing. I think that's what you're referring to, right? I've never seen 10" ones for table saw, though. Then again I didn't know they have those, so Ihaven't exactly been looking for something like that.
Thanks for the tip.

I got mine from Lowes about $12.00. They do much better against alum. I was trying to get rid of about 12 used machines to the metal yard and tried cutoff saws, Sawzalls etc and finally was talking to a machine shop and they suggested the roughest cut blade carbide tipped.
I was a bit suspicious but tried it and was amazed at the clean cut, it literally makes it shiny and is like butter.
I have them in 7" &10" chose the B&D because it was the cheapest.
The only thing to watch out for is the chips fly all over the place and make sure you use a pusher. I had a bruise in my side where a small piece I was cutting flew backwards and hit me in the side before I could duck!!
Ps They also said you can cut steel by putting the oldest blade you have on backwards and when it glows red it will cut. Trashes the blade on that. Havent tried it myself as the bandsaw works easy on steel.

Hi Guys! I ve been reading your posts in relation to the Laser 2k...Could you please tell me if it will be ok to use a Moki 210 in order to test fly my baby? I will have the DA 50 in 3 weeks time thus i really need to go flying thjis weekend with this plane. I understand that i will have to cut the cowling from the opposite side in relation to the DA but i thought that i could invest on another cowl from Kangke. (Do they sell it as a part?).
In my workshop i have a Zenoah 45, a 3W 70 and the Moki....Any recommendations?
Also please tell me what the measuring Units are for "3.2", "2.4" what cc is this? [&:]
I live in Greece and do not know these measuring units...
Thanks!

One Cubic inch = 16.4 CC
10cc + .061 Cubic inches.
Here and interesinting link www.wildharerc.com/Downloads/intro.html
I dont see why the Moki will not fly it.
Kange has cowls although they are pricey abot USD 65.

Hi ...I do not know how to weigh it down ...All i did more is installing 2 servos on the rudder instead of one on the bottom of the Fuse...
But it is SO Tail heavy...Well, the weight of Moki with BCM silencer comes around 3.12 pounds, and the DA 50 comes around 4.2( inclusive of, puffa canister, ignition, stand off's etc)...
So i think that it should be ok with DA...
I do have a 3W 70 next to me so i will try to use it in the next 30 min....It is too big though..[&:] Does anybody think that i can use 3W 70 for y weekend flying???
Thanks

The black ones usually come with the horns however they also have nylon ones that are about 6 to a bag.
Its the type of plastic (brittle) that spoils the supplied ones.

I did the same as andyt and used the translucent Dubro ones on the horn and Dubro Kwik-Links (the black plastic locking ones) on the end of the pushrod. At the servos (all Hitec 5945's) I used Hangar 9 ball links attached to AirWild aluminum servo arms (1.25" on ailerons, rudder, and elevator halves and 3" full arm on rudder).
I maidened my Laser yesterday and everything was well. I didn't do anything too crazy, just a few loops, rolls and snaps to get the feel and get it in the air. Only flew it once...I want to check things over and make sure everything is still tight and glued solid. The Brison 3.2 pulls this plane around without any problem. All in all I am very happy with this plane!
