Hi All,
I'm in the process of assembling my 2nd ARF, the GP 1/4 Scale Spacewalker. I'm not sure if I messed something up or if I just need to make a modification, but something doesn't seem right when I'm preparing to mount my Saito 1.20. I've attached a couple of pictures to show you my problem. It seems that the engine is going to stick entirely too much out of the top of the cowling. In addition, the placement of the throttle arm seems to be very high as well.
I mounted the engine mount to the firewall as described in the manual, but it doesn't seem right.
I know there are quite a few out there with Saito 1.20's in this Spacewalker ARF, could you please help me understand the best way to mount it. Should it be inverted? It would seem to fit in the cowling much better this way, but I've heard many people having problems getting them started, flooding, etc. when inverting engines. I want the maintenance to be as simple as possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jason.

Your engine mount would normally be rotated counterclockwise 90 degrees from where you have it, so that the engine will stick out of the left side of the plane as you stand in front of the plane facing the prop. Some might mount it 180 degrees, so that the engine is inverted, but if this is only your second arf, I'd go with sideways.

waagbuck,
I didn't have time to actually mount it, but by holding it up sideways that looks a little more reasonable. I also read that I can rotate my carburator so that the needle sticks to the right direction. In my Saito instructions it doesn't document this, should the 1.20 have the capability? I think that would also put the throttle arm in a better position as well.
Thanks again,
Jason

The OS 1.20 can rotate the carb/needle 180 with just two screws. I would assume the Saito would as well, but I'm not sure. You would install it so the needle valve and throttle arm are in the most convenient/accessible locations. Good luck.
