My 2 cents. I have built and flown several CMP/Nitroplanes products, and have flown several more built by flying buddies. With rare exception, once set up correctly, these planes fly amazingly well. But , these planes are not for the beginner ! Even the trainers (which are dirt cheap ) come with bare minimum instruction and should be built and setup by an experienced flyer. There are often some typical ARF issues that have to be fixed - such a weak landing gear blocks etc, and that is where the experience helps a lot. All ARF's, from all companies, in my experience usually have some minor issues. THE DIFFERENCE IS THIS - buy an expensive ARF and get a better base product, less to fix, better instructions, less chance to screw up, but PAY MORE, sometimes much more. There is no free lunch in this world. People expect to get the best product on the market for bare minimum dollars and then they complain endlessly because they got a cheap product ! Go figure ! In short, these products provide a cheap starting point for an airplane with great flying potential, provided that you know what you are doing when putting it together, and are willing to put some time into it.

I like CMP products, like it a lot! I like to go over my ARF`s with a fine tooth comb, looking at all the construction details and customize and reinforce as I go along. I always research the experience of others online and learn from them as much as possible. I like to mess around with the plane endlessly before I consider it flight ready. In the end I have a great reliable plane, customized to my liking, that flies GREAT, which is the final goal in anyway. I do this with all ARF`s, even the better quality ones such as Great Planes, Hanger 9, The World Models, all of them. If you don`t like to do this, maybe go the PAY MORE GET MORE way.

As for customer service, NitroModels it can be very difficult to get through to on the phone, email response may be a bit slow, but it is similar to many other services out there today. (It is difficult to bet through to my own bank these days). When they do respond they have always tried to help me. I am friendly, they repond similarly.

That said, when you call Tower Hobbies or Horizon Hobbies, they are right there, right now. AMAZING CUSTOMER service from these guys. You cannot go wrong there at all. Industry leaders get there by doing it right the first time.

Got to go now, I`m working on a CMP Katana, have a lot of work left to do ...... you know .......its gonna fly like magic .........

Stick with Tower, Hobby People, Troy Built,or any of the big name brand shops. They didn't get big by not providing service after the sale.
I think some dealers like Nitro Planes get big by using the old business model that "there is a sucker born every minute." There is always another willing victim out there somewhere willing to give there junk a try even after being warned over and over from previous victims that the company in question sells inferior product or does not stand behind what they sell. There are some pretty descent bargain priced ARFs out there like Phoenix, Seagull, Tower and others that offer a pretty good bang for the buck if buying cheap is what you are after. I got to watch a Nitro Models Yak shed a half of a horizontal stab a few weeks back on a maiden flight during straight and level flight. And they(Nitro Planes) expect you to be able to do 3D type manuevers with that thing? The guy managed to get the plane back on the ground in one piece and we got to looking and the stick built stab was built sooo weak that the only fix on that ARF would be to strip all the covering and rework and reinforce that stab. I could not figure out how they(Nitro Planes) would ever expect you to be able to put any stresses at all on a stab that flimsy.
So after fixing the stab the guy comes out the next week and the landing gear folds up on a perfectly smooth greased landing. I normaly beef up the landing gear in all ARFs regardless of brand to be able to withstand some rough landings, but the guy greased that thing in and the landing gear still failed. Now that is pathetic! I screwed around like that a few years ago trying to keep a Vmar plane together when things would bust just looking at it, but I would never subject myself to that again just to save a few bucks and if I did want to save a few bucks...as I said before, there are better options for product and customer service and support.

I just received my Nitroplanes AIrfield whatever, the box had two holes in it, before I could check for damage the UPS guy was out a there in a flash. Only damage the tip of the tail was broken, some glue and splints held with rubberbands fixed that easily. The plane is a real beauty. I flew it this AM 4 times. It has 3 set screws in the front wheel and 2 worked lose after the 3rd flight. That's pretty much normal on any plane. I tightened them and continued to fly. This plane is well built cowling and door under fuse held with strong magnets. My only issue with the company or plane is getting spare parts like a couple 3 blade props 11*9*3 . Can't seem to locate any. That has me worried a little, Nitroplanes seems to be out of almost everything. I'm not sure what this means. Going belly up ? Not enough stock on hand? So far I am very satisfied with Nitroplanes and the plane.

To Stuntflyer
I agree with you 100% . I talked to the guys at Nitroplanes about a Lipo and they gave me prompt friendly help. Their products seem good to excellent. The damage to my plane was caused in transit. If you start off being a hard a then you get the same back. They aren't paid enough to put up with customers with an attitude problem. Put em on hold may cool them down, or make them madder. They have treated me with courtesy and prompt help. I would have paid 3 times more to Tower Hobbies for the same quality plane. Hobby Lobby probably 4 times more. Anyway life is what you make it.
