Hi again fellas. I've been flying for about a week or so now. I feel very confident with my plane. I felt I mean. I can take it off, do aerobatics, and land it flawlessly every time. On my third flight today the plane lost electrical power and flew away forever. We chased it but it got so high that we couldn't see. It's a sad story. I charged my hitec battery all night too. Sad Sad
. I'm feelin' pretty discouraged. I'm not overly worried about the loss of the plane but the equipment is what kills. Now I won't have anything to put in my 4 star. :drowning::drowning::drowning:

No, I wasn't thoughtful enough to put my information inside the plane. The farmers around our field will return it to the club if they find it. I actually think it'll eventually get found, but not too soon.

Everyone needs to remember that AMA insurance coverage requires that you have your AMA number or your name and address in or on your aircraft. If this info is not there you are not covered.

Wow, just having the worst day here. My friend and I went flying again tonight. We flew his plane. On the way back we figured why not travel the gravel roads and perhaps, just perhaps the plane will be somewhere in eyesight. We get stuck. (I drove a car) We run to a farmhouse to ask for a phone call. We call another friend. Her truck gets stuck. This leads to me paying the tow truck guy some money to come out on a Friday night. Then on the way home, just to add insult, a black cat scurries across the MAIN STREET in my town right in front of me. Ahhhh when will it end. Thanks all for your sympathy. Perhaps I'll find my plane, but until then I'm outta the hobby
. At least I'll go with my friend to fly his plane (he needs my feild equip

Many years ago I lost a Free Flight the only identifacation on it was my AMA number. I got it back from a farmer and was sixty miles away and in another country (Canada, I lived in Michigan at that time). It helped that he was a flier.
I, like you, did not have the foresight to put my name and address on the plane, the only reason the AMA number was on it was because I was flying in a contest. I now unclude AMA, Name, Address and Phone # that I put in the equipment area while building with a ball point pen.

BINGO FLYER,
Are you serious??? 65 miles! That's the distance from here where I live to LAS VEGAS NV. What size of a fuel tank did you have in her??
SHUOHAN,
SORRY GUY, What a tough way to start out.
What do you have to trade for an FUTABA attack 4 channel radio, 4 older jr servos, The transmitter has a brand new battery in it, I just cycled it and it tested great. I don't have an extra switch or receiver battery. It is GOLD STICKERED.

Dersert Ratt,
Yep, at least 65 miles. The plane was a Spacer Class "A" Free Fight with a K&B .19 and a Tornado prop. I think the tank size was about 1oz but had a timer to cut the engine off after only 10 sec. which would get it up to 100-150 ft. I would guess, at one time it had came down to only about five feet when it got into the strongest thermal I have ever seen. We followed in a 1953 Chevy convertable untill it got so high that it was out of sight! This plane was equiped with a dethermalizer which had operated after six min. but the plane continued to go up. Fortunatly that was my third official flight that day (all max) and I won the contest.
Started flying R/C shortly after that but still enjoyed free flight until I got to old and fat to chase them down

Ninefingers: Southeast... why the humer?
Desert Ratt: What exactly does gold stickered mean?
I actually think I'm going to be spending money back into this hobby now, after seeing my friend fly his plane all the time and not having anything to do but watch him. I purchased a OS FX 46 off of a guy from here and now just need to find a flight pack. I'm planning to put it in my four star 40.

shuohan,
"GOLDSTICKERED"
In 1990 or 91 The fcc made the radio manufactures re-do the radio frequency band widths so as not to allow so much over coverage or interference (can anyone else describe it better? please) between bands, and in doing so the radios that were already in use were no longer acceptable. We had to #1. get new equipment or #2. Send our existing radio's in and have them re-worked. The old ones I still have, have silver stickers instead of GOLD. GOLD says they're up to standards..
Put an add in the local newspaper offering a reward for your stuff, also check with your LOCAL HOBBY SHOP/S to see if anyone has contacted them about finding one. maybe even see if you can put up a flier at the local SCHOOLS with a reward for the plane.

I had that said to me one day when a man called me.
I lost control of my plane on longIsland.
It was found on fireiland in some one window.
Scared the !@#$ out of the people.
It was kinda funny.
I got the plane well what was left.
And a bill for the window.
So I lost 500 bucks that day...
I hope you find it.
But next time you should pt your nfo in it.

I just got my plane back after going to court. I found out my plane was in this guy's bar. I went there and the first thing out of his mouth is "I got an offer of $400 dollar's for the plane". since I only had $100 bucks in it I said I'd split the money, he could give me $200 and I'd give him the plane. I ended up in a mexican standoff, with me holding my plane, and him blocking my exit out of the bar. I told him to call the police at least 10 times, he kept saying he found the plane, finally someone else called them. I said sorry, its still my property. Police came, took away the plane and today I had to go to the DA's office and explain my case. After hearing my story, DA said no problem, its your plane. After explaining this to the other guy, the guy had the nerve to ask to file trespassing charges against me for picking up the plane from the counter of his bar. DA just laughed. I originally had taken the guy two cases of beer, a nice shirt with the club's logo and $20 bucks, which he turned down. I was very satisfied that he got nothing. I may even fly the plane over his bar a couple of times just to piss him off further. He'd probably get a shotgun and shoot it down.
Felt like I won the case on People's Court. The guy was an idiot, and they are out there.
Police advised me to engrave my name on the engine and somewhere inside so that there would be no question of ownership.

I'm glad you won out and got your plane back. I don't see an AMA number by your name but if you check you will find out AMA has stickers you are suppose to put inside your plane with your name and address and a warning for anyone finding this plane that they are required to return it. Contact your AMA people and ask them about it.

Our field is located in a city park that has an apartment building to the north and a Frisbee golf course to the south. So far to my knowledge no one has hit the apartment complex as of yet but several planes have gone down in the Frisbee golf course area and that is one place you don't want to lose your plane. The reason why is because the golfers will strip the plane of its engine and electronics and smash the rest before you even get the chance to recover your plane. Some of the members have lost very nice expensive engines not to mention electronics on that course. Lucky enough we have the AMA that will cover this type of theft.
