hi
as others have said don't be too hasty to sell everything and quit. you will crash if you fly, eventually, just goes with the game. I have been in hobby sinc3 '59 or '60 and I have stopped and restarted many times during this period, but I have never sold my planes or equipment, just hang them up and store engines for later use. some planes I have rebuild many times. also on any new plane it is a good idea to carefully check everything before first flight and have an experienced flyer help you get it trimmed for flight. much easier than trying an untrimmed aircraft unless you have a lot of stick time and experience with different aircraft.
a good investment for you would be a flight simulator, real flight G-2 would be my suggestion, best money I have spent in awhile.
keep flying, don't give up go back to trainer for awhile. you may have advanced to hotter aircraft too quickly.
good luck
joe

Hey TOEDWY,
If that engine survived the crash, the plane was probably repairable!

on my last case, it was the plane that damaged the engine. when the engine got pushed back through the plane the firewall broke off the needle valve

I feel for ya Toedwy. I too wrecked on my first flight. cheap material in the kit let go. Not a whole lot of damage so I fixed it. Went out and did the "taxi around" thing, got up too much speed, took off and did a cork screw into the ground. Ripped out everything back to and including the firewall. Fixed it again, took her up and totalled it. I was ready to give up. Instructor talked me out of it. Bought a new plane and haven't looked back since.
Bottom line give it a little time, cool down and take another look. If you have no doubts about retiring, then you are making the right decision. However you may be surprised and stick with it. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

Hmm -- No response to these words of encouragement. Toedwy is going, going, gone.
Hey Zetor, Dr. Spock didn't get too many things right about hurting a little persons fragile psyche.
I don't need no stinkin motor, what happened to the radio ?

I'm not sure what the Dr Spock comment is about. Fragile psyche? What? You aren't making much sense. Go back and read what I said or have someone read it to you. The fact that he didn't respond suggests to me that he has made his mind up. Maybe he is an adult and doesn't need a pep rally to get motivated. I'm the same way. I can pretty much make my own mind up. If you need the latest Tony Robbins book to make descisions, it's Ok, but not everyone needs this. I think it was pretty dumb to ask "Is this how you handle all life's obstacles?"
