Until now I haven't even thought about the additional Ch's on my receiver. I am flying well now and I am thinking of adding additional functions to my aircraft. Here is what I have. I have the JR Quattro TX. It came with the R700 7ch RX (JR). The receiver has the following extra inputs other than the the 4 basic Chan's...
AUX 1 ( I have no Idea what this is for)
AUX 2 ( I have no Idea what this is for)
GEAR (I understand the concept of how this works)
My question is do I need to upgrade my TX to use these extras, and what are the AUX inputs used for. I don't think I can use these with the Quattro TX. I think I would have to upgrade my TX. Tell me if I am wrong. The confussing part is why it came with the JR Q if I cant use the extras?

FlyingMonkey, You will have to get a new transmitter to use the extra channels. You transmitter only transmitts the for funcitons on your transmitter. I think the reason they send a seven channel receiver is it is cheaper to make a 7 ch and package it with the lower trqansmitters than it is to make a 4ch receiver,5ch receiver, 6 ch receiver etc.

For an 8 channel JR the assignments are
Ch 1 = throttle
Ch 2 = aileron
Ch 3 = elevator
Ch 4 = rudder
Ch 5 = gear
AUX 1 = flaps or left aileron in flaporon mode
AUX 2 = spoilers
AUX 3 = extra channel

From: gone,
Ch 5 is actually an AUX just as 6,7,8... and can be assigned as desired if you do not have retracts.
Ch 5 normally is a toggle switch with 2 positions because of its primarilly getting used for retracts... but you can use it for a bomb rlease of to operate a camera, landing lights... anything that does not need proportional control.
None of the channel assgnments are "written in stone" if its convenient for you and makes sense to you.. ailerons can be on channel 3. (I can't SEE it being convenient or making sense... but it would work.)

I read somewhere that a JR Quattro (voiding the warranty) can be converted to a 6ch. During the brief time I had one, behind the battery there are the servo reversers. Have you noticed that there are two extras?
I forgot the site, but if you search for JR Quattro 6ch conversion or something like that, you will find it.
If you do it, you would wind up with a 6ch JR Quattro (a.k.a the JR *** (in Latin) or more pleasantly the JR Seis(Spanish.. I know. Four is Cuatro in Spanish))
It wouldn't have Dual rates or ATV, but it's a good idea if you don't have the dough to buy a new Tx.

Yub, yub, cmdr!, That sounds interresting. I will look at that. I have had this TX a while and plan to make it my "beat around TX" anyway, so the warranty is not an issue. Thanks N8theSk8, iflyrc24, FHHuber, and Yub, yub, cmdr! for the replys.

i understand what your are saying. For instance.. I can make the right stick up/down the rudder if I wished to. Well thats a poor example I couldn't imagine trying to fly up/down converted to left/right I wouldn't make it off the tarmac, but I see what your trying to say.
Thanks again,
Keith
