Default First parkflyer help

I would like to get into the parkfler scene, been looking for some good planes. I'm a newbie in planes but not to RC I had a Terry a few years back[8D]. I would like to buy a good plane but with some mild to advanced aerobatic manuevrabilty for later down the road. I was looking at the GWS Zero, Wattage Sukhoi 31, and the the GWS Mustang. According th my LHS these are the planes im looking for. So I'm open to any suggestions that you might have. Oh almost forgot my wallet is not big looking for aprice range of 50-70 dollars.

Do you have a radio and electronics? If not, your price range is unrealistic to get all the needed gear. At least in the "arm's length" market. You might find someone who is looking to pawn off some stuff and get a good price that way.

You can probably get something (I'll leave the specifics up to the more knowledgable folks) flyable for between 100 and 150.

If you've never flown an R/C plane then you're not gonna have much luck with any of the planes you mentioned. They're all fairly high performance aircraft, not at all suitable for training. I know, acrobatic, but I would suggest for your first plane a slo stick. You will have much more success with it than with one of their warbirds. Plus, you can take the radio gear out of the slo stick and put it in your warbird when you're ready.

You might could get an electric in the air for around $150, don't forget you're gonna need to buy a transmitter and charger for the airplane's flight battery. If you use a GWS flight pack (which includes sevos, battery, receiver) you'll wind up wanting another flight battery for the airplane fairly quickly.

I'd listen to a65L the slow stick is a good first plane if stick type planes aren't appealing to you look at the Tigermoth. Unfortunatly aerobatic plane and first time flier isn't really a good combination unless you like crashing more then flying

The Good thing about the GWS planes is that the radio gear be moved from one plane to another as you gain skill.

You can get the tigermoth for about 55.00 the flight pak is about 75-80. and extra battery will cost 20-30 a cheap 4 ch Tx is about 100
and the one item I would not skimp on is the charger get one that can charge Nicad, Nimh an Lion batteries about 80-125


Expect to pay about 300-350 for your first setup but remember that the charger and radio can be used in other models so when you are ready for the Zero you will need a different battery, ESC and maybe one servo.

How comfortable were you with the Terry? If you were fairly proficient with it, ie. you could control your direction, altitude, and attitude well, and the number of landings averaged out to the number of launches, you might be able to get away with the GWS Zero. The Mustang requires a little more experience, and I wouldn't recommend it for a first aileron equipped model. I would probably avoid the Watttage Sukhoi like the proverbial plague, if it's the one I remember(it's a bit of a winged brick with the recommended setup). If you were still learning with the Terry, I would suggest something like the Multiplex Space Scooter--it's an updated Sky Scooter with an optional rudder and a semi-symmetrical wing. All reports so far claim it to be pretty forgiving and agile.

You will likely have a bad experience w/ any of the GWS warbirds. They fly fairly quickly for their size yet are somewhat underpowered so they fly on the wing. In other words, you can't rely on throttle to get you out of trouble. They drop out of the sky real fast if you are a little shaky on the sticks. I have a smashed up Corsair to prove it. The Me109 is probably the easiest to fly, the Mustang the toughest. It's tough to beat the Slow stick or TM for cheap, good-flying starter planes. If you want ailerons, get an estarter, also cheap and can be flown first just using the rudder. Then you can cut the ailerons out later. The estarter is more of a handful in general than the SS or TM, it's heavier and faster. Depends on your experience level.

Thanks for your help guys. I have all of the electronics beacuse my dad has about 5 planes. More than enough to start with. I also looked at the TM fly in a video, very good flyer. Still don't not sure what to pick.[&o] P.S. Who makes the estarter?

You had a Terry. Were you good with the terry? Would you say you are accomplished?

Does $70 include plane, electroncis, batteries, charger, radio?
