Got my plane last night.
Sig Midstar .40
OS .40 LA w/10x6 prop
Futaba S3004 servos
Also got a radio for it.
JR Quattro lite
First off: Anybody got any pictures of how the Rx and Rx battery should be mounted in the fuse? I know I'm supposed to get some foam and wrap them in it, but do they just hang loose in there or is there some way I should mount them.
As for a field box, I'm thinking of just getting this: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...4&I=LXL419&P=K
Any opinions on it?
Also, along with the plane, I got a copy of Real Flight G2. We're not gonna discuss how late I was up last night playing with that. Let's just suffice it to say I can do touch and goes all day long with it and some simple tricks, all with the milder planes. The helicopters are a nightmare though!
I'm not in any hurry to get the stuff listed above. It'll be another week, maybe two before I'll try the real plane. (with somebody to help me of course)
To add insult to injury, I've been sick for the last three days and tomorrow's the 27th birthday. Hence the plane. I'm about as excited as anybody with a fever of 102 can be.

Oh to be 27 again
....my 54th was yesterday. Flew all day long....Ultra Stick 60 and my 4*60. Sunny, 70 degrees, and very little wind. You just can't get much better than that. Get well soon wraith0078[8D]

Good choices on everything. I have the 40 LA now that it is tuned i couldn't ask for a better engine. It is just right for my plane.
Do the velcro thing for the RX and RX battery, i do it for mine and have gone through TONS of loops and other high g manuevers. oncluding diving spins.
Also, the field box looks fine, but you honestly don't need all of that yet, but it would be good to by it now rather than waiting.
Realflight is awsome! My instructor let me borrow his and helped so much. I put a four stroke 56 on that pt-40 to help it out a bit..
Great setup and have fun

I've noticed something about the trainer type planes in Real Flight and was wondering if this is true for the real thing. I seem to have to fight with the stupid plane just to get it to go where I want to. I assume this is because of the dihedral of the wind and the "self-righting" tendencies of a high-wing plane? The shoulder wing and low wing planes are pretty much point and shoot. They go right where I want them to. I think I've crashed more trainers fighting with them than the other planes. Except for the jets..... No wonder you have to have a turbine waiver to fly those things. They're just plane fast! (no pun intended)

that's because of the dihedral in the wing. Any plane will be point and fly, if it has little or no dihedral. Also, some curvature to the lower airfoil helps as well (semi or fully symmetrical wings...)

Meaning, when I want to turn, it tries to level out. I try to fly straight and level, it wants to climb, etc....

The "trying to level out is perfectly normal for a high wing trainer with lots of dehidral. For wanting to climb either you have too much up trim or just reducing power will be enough.
Try trimming the plane at half throttle for hands off level flight and this is for G2/G3 or a real live plane.
The main 2 reasons why a plane climbs is power along with elevator (there are other reasons). The elevator is for controlling airspeed and adding power will cause it to climb. Reducing power will cause it to decend.
Try trimming it as I described, the add some power without touching the elevator and see what I mean. Same thing for decending, reduce power just a tad without changing the elevator position and it will decend

I hope you are aware that the futaba servos will not plug into the JR receiver unless the plugs are changed or modified. They will work once pluged together but they come from the factory with incompatible plugs.

Thanks for thinking to point that out. I neglected to mention that the receiver that was in it before was a JR, so the tabs on the plugs are already missing.
