Default Receiver question

I'll try to keep this brief and to the point.

I have a Futbab 6EXA radio and a Hitec duel conversion flight pack I have been using since the beginning of the season. Due to a recent accident and unsuccessful post repair test flight, I suspect (and almost certain) that there is a break in the reciever antenna.

My question:

If I use a futaba Radio, can I swap out the suspect Hitec reciever and replace it with my original Futaba reciever that came with the radio whithout having to swap out all the hitec servos aswell?

I understand both Hitec and Futaba are both negative shift, but will the Futaba reciever work fine with the Hitec servo's?

Any help would be appreciated.

yes they will work fine, I use hitec servo's with a futaba receiver.

Forgot to add, I actually prefer hitec servo's over futaba cause you get more bang for the buck.

Yes, you can use Hitec servos with a Futaba receiver. I think the only servos that aren't universal are the old Airtronics style. The center wire was negative, and, as far as I know, today all of the major brands have the center positive.

I've used Futaba, Hitec, and FMA receivers with Futaba and Hitec servos for many years with no problems. Watch the pulse shift and watch the connector polarities and you'll be ok.

It is easy to see if you really have a break in the antenna. Just take the case of the receiver and measure with an ohm meter to see if you have continuity between the land on the printed circuit board that is soldered to the antenna and the far end of the antenna. Gently tug on the antenna when making this measurement in case there is momentary contact at the break (if the break exists).

You can use any servos with any brand receiver, just as long as you have the wiring correct. All servos have a positive lead, negative lead, and a control lead. See the attached diagram for the wiring of the major brand of receivers. To use a different brand of receiver just make sure that you change the wiring to match the receiver you are using. On most plugs there will be a small plastic tab that holds in the plug, lift that up and pull the wire out of the plug. Then reinsert the wires in the proper order.

Hope this helps.

I'd also suggest that you send the rec. in to a shop and have it checked, especially seeing it was in a crash. Better safe then crashed again. ENJOY !!!! RED
