I think mine's been through alot worse. If you've got parts not working, get it repaired. It could be a symptom of something worse.

Okay, if I can't figure out what the problem is when I open it up then it'll go off for repairs.
By the way... I don't want to jinx it by mentioning it before it's decided, but I may have a new job soon! I got in touch with a local Web Design firm and they seem to be very interested in me! Which is friggin' awesome because that's the job I've always wanted to have.

JR? Heck, I'd just scrap it and get a Futaba set, a REAL radio.
Just kidding everyone, don't kill me!
JR is fine although I do prefer Futaba myself. Ford/Chevy/Dodge and all that stuff ya know.
How old is it and when was the last time it was checked over at a shop?

I bought it used from the marketplace here. So far, it's been a great deal for me. However, if it costs me one of my planes, suddenly the money I saved doesn't cut it. I'm thinking I'll definitely send it in for repairs now. It's probably well overdue for a going-over anyway.
#480

Yep, send it in, you have no idea how many times previous owner dropped it. They will give it a good look over and cycle the batteries (ask for this) and tweak anything that requires it. If you have ever crashed the RX, send it along too. They can also match them to each other even better that way. Check their web site for cost estimates if I remember correctly. Send now and it will be back when you are ready for it. Small price for confidence. List ANY problems you may have noted at ANY time in the past. Makes it easier and keeps the labor time down.

Good luck with interview!! Hope you get the job
I am another suggesting you send that baby in. Like it was said, ya don't know the past, so the send-in will more than pay for itself if it meant not sending it meant a plane. Especially this beautiful SE.

Okay, I'm going to send it in ASAP.
By the way, I have another interview this morning (before the Web Designer interview this afternoon)! This one is for an IT position with what sounds like an interesting company that provides IT solutions to other businesses.
So, out of nowhere, I suddenly have two interviews in one day, whereas just a couple of days ago I was starting to think I wouldn't find anything. And they're both for jobs I wanted to get into in the first place (computer jobs). I only became a Tech Writer because that was the first thing I found, and it was a paycheck.

Good luck with the job interviews! I've found that bringing my own dirt to grovel in at their feet will improve the chances of getting hired... Just don't let the "job" stuff get in the way of anything important, like covering your airplane!

Might want to go easy on the net surfing when you get hired. Assuming that isn't the job description
. "Assistant VP of Net Surfing" would look good on a biz card I guess. Hmmm, what would that pay I wonder?

Don't worry, I won't be online at work unless it's allowed during lunch or breaks. Otherwise, you guys will only see posts from me in the evenings soon (I hope). Besides, now that I'm looking at getting a job in IT or Web Design, I'm thinking I'll actually be engaged in work a lot more than I was as a Tech Writer. Like I said, I always wanted to work with computers, the Tech Writer thing just kinda fell in my lap.

So, first interview of the day is done. And man am I glad I sent in my resume! I interviewed with the President of the company and they're looking to have me start in two weeks, once he talks with his partners about hiring me. It sounds like an interesting job too. I would be going out to assist clients with computer problems and would almost never be in the office. Apparently, the 'Engineers' as they're called work through a dispatcher. I'd get a company laptop and a Blackberry (and apparently a Nextel two-way radio/phone). Talk about techie! It's geek heaven.
I'm hoping to hear back from them soon as to whether I'm an employee or not, but I don't imagine I'll hear from them before my other interview this afternoon. I'm not sure what I should tell the woman I'm going to meet. Maybe that she should still consider me for a part-time Web Designer position, but that I'd be happy to work full time if the job I interviewed for this morning doesn't pan out? I don't know. All I know is that the pay she offered is somewhat lower than what I expect to get at the IT job.
Man, I'm still hyped up from the interview! I'm amazed that I found the job I wanted when I got out of college, and that they're actually interested in me.

Hmmm.... me thinks it's cart before the horse time... Do second interview just like it's the only one. If the first works, great, just tell the second one that you have something else.
Dunno, myself only had two (real) jobs... just seems to me like caution would be better at this point. (Good luck!

Kiswa,
Do what Cwrr5 has said. Do your interviews seperately. If the second one offers on the spot that means they need you NOW. If you're that important to them you can dictate your price and terms. If no offer on the spot, go home and see what develops.
Cwrr5,
I've only ever had ONE real job, the Army. After getting discharged from the Army (medical discharge) I didn't want to mess around with the whole resume/interview/hire process, so I just started my own business and went to work for myself!!!!

Okay, so I'll treat them as entirely separate interviews and not mention the other job to the lady this afternoon.
And Ken, I wish I had the slightest idea how to start my own business. Oh well, I'm willing to work for others for the time being.
Oh yeah, I don't think taking a job where I'll make somewhat less than my last job is the way to get a 14MZ. Not that I'd want that thing anyway... what would I do with it?

If the second company offers a position just tell her that you would like a little time to consider it. Stay as vague as you can and let them make their own conclusions. It may even draw out some more money on the table.
You can always start your own business on the side as long as it does not compete with your employer or their clients.IMO At least that is my opinion of the ethics of the situation. Be sure to check with your employer first as this could also be grounds for termination. [:'(]
Sounding good so far though.[

Kiswa,
We didn't have any idea how to start one either. We just did it. Heck, if we knew then what we know now we probably wouldn't have done it!!!!

I know you are involved with IT, but what is your exact area of training/interest???

ooo... Ken, you just gotta do it the hard way, huh?
YIKES!
Only two(real) jobs for me has been as a flightline servicing guy for small general aviation/charter company, then 11 years USAF(and counting).... so I don't have much in the way of advice, just a little common sense(hopefully).
Doesn't the 14mz play music and stuff too? Maybe also make coffee? I'll never see one. [&o]

Ken, that pic is hilarious!
And I'm involved in PC maintenance, network software, helpdesk support, web development and programming, and whatever else I get interested in. I'm almost entirely self-taught with computers. I took classes, but I almost always ended up teaching them (or at least assisting the teacher with their duties). I've never yet learned anything computer related from a classroom.
By the way, the 1pm interview went very well. However, she said she can't afford me full time. Not a problem though as I a now her freelance contractor. My first contract job is this Friday afternoon, where I'll be helping with a database driven eCommerce site. That worked out well, didn't it?
Oh yeah, she also knows of a Web Designer position with a government contractor that she's going to pass my resume along to (with my permission) as they can most likely afford me.

Wow, you've managed to rack up 3 (possible) jobs in one day! That's gotta be some kind of record or something...
Uh... when are you going to have time to fly?
Priorities, ya know. LMAO!
(congrats!)
B.S.O.D...
As long as I never see that on a 1:1 scale(airliner), life is good.
roflmao!
