Default 1st dead stick oops!!

i took out my trainer this morning checked her over took off flew a cpl of circuits then decided to do a few loops ,no problem at all then after another loop the engine cut!!,i was flying over some trees so decided to turn her towards me and try and get her lined up for a landing no probs but i figured i couldnt get her turned again(lack of height and speed etc),so i decided to land her across the wind as she was facing that way and loosing height.looked great came down smooth, then a bit of wind cauhgt the wing and she dropped one wing just as she was coming for touch down.no prizes for guessing what happened she clipped the grass with her wing tip and did a cart wheel oops fuse snapped near tail apart from that she was un damaged.im getting good at repairs lol.ive epoxied the tail back on and shell be back in the air in no time!!!.i thought i handled the dead stick well till that wind lol.

I forgot what trainer you have Martno1fan. I've seen your posts but it slips my mind. Just curious.

I will have to consult your repair expertise when I have my first ground meets plane session. lol

hi mate it started out as an irvine tutor 40 with a os4[img][/img]6la engine but since the rebuild i did to her a cpl of months ago shes now called the phoenix lol!!she flies really well i cant understand why the engine cut shes been running great and she idles great when i point her nose up so maybe i was just unlucky on the day lol[].shes fixed again now so ill get her back up later in the week and keep persevering .i taught myself and ive had one bad crash but apart from that so far so good i surprised myself how calm i stayed when she dead sticked i thought id got away with it till the wing dropped on touch down whind lol[:@].least thats what im blaming .

There are two types of engines. No. 1 will run forever until you get too far away from the runway for a deadstick. No. 2 will give you dead stick practice on every 2nd or 3rd flight.
You did one A #1 repair job on a very nice looking airplane. Keep on keepin' on.

Is that a before or after shot?

I'd heard of Irvine but for some reason I thought they were a coreplas company. Still it looks like a good bird.

Martno-

Check to make sure you have good pressure coming from the tank. You may have a hole or split in the pressure line, which could cause the engine to die in a loop. Also check the fuel supply line inside the tank.

Keep up the good work. I'm still thinking you're a few flights away from being ready for the bipe.

Check the operation of the pickup line. Make sure it has not flipped forward or gotten stuck to the bottom of the tank. Needs to swing freely at the rear of the tank and remain at the "low" side in whatever attitude the plane is in. Note: if pulling enough G's during a loop, both the fuel and the clunk will stay at the bottom of the tank and not move like it will during sustained inverted flight.

thanks for the tip bruce it seems ok thats why im a bit confused about it.she seemed to cut out just after the roll as i leveled off!!.it must have been a fuel problem im thinking or lack of it im not sure what caused it though.although having said that the last time out she cut out on take off or just before on the take off run.then i restarted her and she flew great .!!
