I'm still in shock.Yesterday, after countless hours on my buddies alpha 60 simulator and 3 times on the stick (he handed me the controller after taking off) I soloed all on my own.On a bet from the night before he said he'd give me his trainer if I could take it off and land since I'd mastered the sim and he was done with the trainer. Now I know this is not a normal and totally baffled another guy at the field as it took him 16 hours of instruction anyway its now obvious I've wasted all this time messing with rc cars.I'm addicted now so I'm waiting till I get my ama card before I fly my new plane again. I cant believe the feeling of landing it for the first time hopefully I wont be chasing that feeling forecer as an rc plane junkie

Ahhh, some way I started out, cars then planes. I haven't run my car since I began flying. Face it brother, you're addicted.
Congrats on the landing.

On my dead stick landing and touch and gos I stayed amazingly calm I had previously bought a megatech capitol flyer for a first plane and it lasted about 16 seconds because I was soooo damn nervous . I convinced myself that as long as I stayed calm and did nothing erratic or stupid this plane would last a long time .There is nothing like really flying but the cheap simulator helped a lot and the fact that my friend was willing to give me a $400 plane with 2 flights on it for free if I could solo on my first try.I flew at least 1/2 a gal thru her this afternoon in a steady breeze and I'm a little amazed at how drained I felt after the flying that much .Now of course the next big thing is my first "lawn dart" but then that just means I get to get a new plane
btw- I played the simulator till I could just about do anything with the plane.Real life is a different story though

Congrats on your solo & the free plane! While the sim isn't popular with alot of instructors, it is what finally got me soloed too. In fact the main thing I was getting from my Instructor was "you should really go home & practice on the sim" so I did, & it worked. I too lost all interest in the cars after becoming addicted to planes. I had an 1/8 scale Ofna car set up for pavement with a two speed in it that was capable of 75 to 80 mph. It set on the shelf for over a year until I traded it for Airplane credit @ the LHS
Once you've been airborne there's no going back. Welcome to the fold.

rail congrats. Thats the best thing you can do is stay calm, stay calm, stay calm. I also learned to stay calm and it bailed me out of many situations. Great Job Dude, keep it up!

Well done!
