Default need a little advice

ok i just got a NICE income tax return today and im going to go and buy a model (go figure). i am going to get a kadet lt 25 and was thinking of starting a build thread for this model mainly because its never been done b4 and was wondering if anyone had any tips for me and where i should post this thread so i can get the best advice possible. its either going to be in the kit building forum or her in the good ol' begginers forum.
any advice would be greatly appreciated
thx

by the way, i have built a model b4 (sig kadet seniorita) but couldnt finish it right now due to severe hangar rash, so i know what to expect as far as needed skills

I read several of the forums, including Kit Building, but I tend to think trainer builds belong here. When I started building my PT-60 I was very scared of the whole building process. I asked a bunch of questions here, and even more at the field. Sometimes I took my parts to the field, or to a club meeting, to get opinions and advice.

I have now built two kits, so I'd still consider myself a novice builder. I'm much less intimidated by kits, now, than I was when I opened the first one. I think build threads for trainer planes are a great way to ease the intimidation factor. If other people who have been afraid to try building see that it's really not a monumental task to build a plane, maybe they'll give it a try.

I like kits and I like ARFs. I am really glad I built the first two kits and have two more waiting. I'm in the middle of assembling a Big Stik 60 ARF right now and will probably start one of the kits soon after that.

Andrew,
The topic of kit builders forum versus the beginner's forum has been discussed before. While it's your choice as to where to post the thread, the general consensus of the discussion was that you will get more people watching the thread here in the beginners forum. Most of the people that frequent the builders forum watch this forum also, so by posting in here you will get the benefit of both forums for your build thread.

Good luck on the build. While it's not the LT-25 you might benefit from my LT-40 build thread. The planes are similar enough that a lot of the build will be close to what I did in on the LT-40. you can find my build thread here, [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3439708/tm.htm]Pay It Forward build thread!! LT-40 build.[/link]

Hope this helps

Ken

I could never do a build thread; I'm too slow....
I do read the majority of the ones in this forum, and some in Kit Building. I'm currently following Kmot's Four Star, Theo's PT-40, and RCKen's PIF builds.

I'll tell you what, I have a new found respect for those that do these things for a living. It was about triple the amount of work doing the build thread than it was to just do the build. Way more work.

Please tell me how you manage to get an income tax refund. I always wind up putting off some type of modeling because I'm paying.
As Victor Borga used to say "The government takes all the rest".

I know that this going to sound a bit screwed up, but it's how I feel. I would hate to get an income tax refund. That would mean the Uncle Sam has been using my money all year long and he isn't going to pay me any interest on it!!!! [>:] We set out deductions so that we usually don't get a refund, but don't have to pay much either. Last year I had to write out a check to pay my taxes, a huge amount of $8!!! Yep, that's what I had to pay last April. Should be about the same thing this year too. [8D]

That's my 2ΒΆ worth!!

i know, but when i was working on the drilling rigs, the company took almost double what they were supposed to off my check. the reason they do this is some guys cant save their money in order to get by during spring breakup, so doing what they did, is their way of helping out employees while their shut down for 2-3 months. id rather be able to put the money in a RSP and let it collect the interest instead of the gov't, but hey its better than the $500 i had to pay last year, or the $7000 my buddie payed.
PS
i also was wondering where i could download a manual for the lt 25. it turns out that the hs cant get it in until monday or tuesday, and i probably wont get it until the end of the week[&o], but i guess.... that will give me time to organize the shop and read the manual (if i can download one) until i can memorize it word for word. so i guess il have to be patient, even though i feel like a little kid waiting for christmas.
at least ive got my f27 stryker to fly while im waiting

Andrew,
The employer can only withhold what you tell them to. If they are holding any more or less than that they're doing something illegal. In the situation that you described about them holding back pay "so the employee was taken care of" had very little to do with helping the employee, and would probably be more like they are "holding" that back to help the employee and in the meantime the company collected interest that they drew from the little account they set up to hold that money in. That's probably closer to the truth. It's amazing to me the scams that huge corporations like that think up to make an extra buck or two.

About the manual, unfortunately Sig doesn't make their manuals available for download. You'll have to purchase a new one from Sig. You can order off of their website at [link=http://www.sigmfg.com]www.sigmfg.com[/link].

Hope this helps

thanx for the input. i think i'll just wait until i get the kit, it going to be hard having the kit sit there calling my name while i read the manual, but i guess i'll have to "suffer" for a couple days
