1. programming mix used typically to reduce throw near neutral to "soften" responses.
2. aerobatic maneuver
3. having ailerons deflected slightly upwards on both sides at neutral stick.
4. sometimes used in charging batteries to mean charging at 10 times the capacity
5. prop size 20 inch diameter with 2 stage pitch. one section would cause 6 inch forward for each revolution and the other 10 inches forward for each revolution. Please check this answer as I may be wrong, I am admitedly guessing slightly.
6. ailerons both deflected up and flaps down for maximum drag and minimum lift in order to lose altitude quickly without adding speed.
7. new transmitter format
8. Tournament of champions
9. pitch control on heilcopter rotor blades - all blades. different than cyclic
10.
11. high angle of attack
12.
13.voltage - peak to peak electronic term
14. the point at which something is about to happen
15. aerobatic maneuver
16. can be referring to equip used to keep a heli from turning over when training
17. aerobatic manuever

aerobatic manuevers require too much space for quick answers.

farminred,
I understand that you don't want any answers that aren't the correct answers, but this really isn't the forum to be asking for those terms. The majority of those terms are the names of maneuvers done in 3-D flying, you might want to ask over there a you're probably more like to get teh answers you're looking for.

Default RE: HELP NEED DEFINITIONS!!!!!!

Here ya go

1. exponential Setup in the radio to help make the sticks less sensitive

2. blender Very violent 3D manuever. Come staight down without power on high rates, put both sticks in the upper corners and add power. This is a wing tester and has been known to pull mufflers from engines and loosen firewalls)

3. reflex Has mulitple definitions. Usually means adjusting the ailerons in a given direction to help with the way a plane flies

4. c10 unsure

5. 20 x 6-10 This is a prop measurement the 20 is the diameter and 6-10 is the pitch which means it's a 6 pitch near the root of the prop and a 10 pitch out near the tips

6. crow It's when you have flaps down (if the plane has them, and Ailerons up. When viewed from the side it looks like a crows foot. This setup creates a lot of drag. I used this setup on a plane that allowed me to do a high speed vertical dive, flick a switch to open crow and all but stop, pull horizontal and land.

7. dsm unsure

8. toc Tournament of Champions. Very respected R/C competition. You must be invited to fly this competition

9. collective Has to do with helicopters but forget what it actually does. I believe it acts the same as the elevator to gain/lose altitude

10. bpl unsure

11. high alpha very nose high flight

12. #11 unsure

13. vpp unsure

14. threshold end of the runway

15. death slide unsure

16. training gear usually has to do with helicopters. Made out of 2 sticks with something similiar to ping-pong balls on each each to give the helicopter a wide landing gear area

17. harrier very nose high flight. Can be upright or inverted

Default RE: HELP NEED DEFINITIONS!!!!!!

1. Exponential
Non-linear relationship between servo and stick position. Usually reduces the sensitivity of the stick near the neutral control point.

2. Blender:
With throttle at idle push down so that the model is diving vertically towards the ground. Add full left aileron, then after two full rotations, quickly add full down elevator, and full right rudder, the model will violently stop descending, and should turn into a complete blur, even at idle.

3. Reflex
Airfoil with the trailing edge is bent upwards. Usually introduced in airfoils of flying wings to reduce pitching moment.

4. c10
Slow charging current for batteries. A battery is charged for approx 14-15 hours with a current that is (capacity in mAh) / 10 h, e.g., a 1200 mAh battery could be charged at 120 mA for 15 hours.

5. 20 x 6-10
Propeller with 20" diameter and a progressive pitch 6" near the root and 10" near the tip.

6. Crow.
Flap arrangment usually for hot liners to steepen landing approch while at the same time keeping airspeed down. Flaps go down and ailerons deflect upwards, creating a high lift, high drag configuration with a lot of wash-out.

7. DSM
In my world: Digital Spectrum Modulation—a digital RF link between transmitter and model that is based on Direct Sequencing Spread Spectrum technology.

8. toc
Tournament of Champions

9. Collective
Heli talk: Collective pitch is the angling of all blades by an equal amount in unison. The pilot uses collective pitch control to rise vertically. The other term of interest is cyclic pitch.

10 BPL
No idea

11. High alpha
Usually meaning an airfoil operating at a high angle of attack

12. #11
The most common typ of scapel blade

13. VPP
Variable Pitch Propeller (?)

14. Threshold
The beginning of that portion of a runway usable for landing.

15. Death slide
Probably a 3D maneuver of some sort

16. Training gear
Diapers (?)

17. Harrier
BAe Harrier: Cool aircraft
3D: The Harrier is a nose-up forward flight

Find many of these and many more (but not all) in the RCU glossary.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/community/glossary.cfm

How come bubba and Ken didn't point this out?????????

I thought of one more that I can't find the answer to and it is Semi-Diesel

Easy - A diesel for a Semi? Had to sneak one in.

Actually there are those that would consider our glow engines as semi-diesel. Many diesels use a glow plug for initial ignition and then rely on compression heat to maintain operation. Our glow plugs store some of the heat in the coils and have a little less compression but are still close to diesel in operation. IMO

I believe the death slide is a heli 3-d maneuver

BPL = broadband over power lines. There are some old threads arguing over whetherthis will create radio interfrence and be the end of RC.

I believe the death slide is a heli 3-d maneuver

Could it be a suicide slide which is a knife edge parachute?

A parachute is a dive and yanking back on full up elevator with 3D throws into an "Elevator" manuever. (another wing tester like the blender)

12. #11
The most common typ of scapel blade
Maybe the most popular for hobby purposes, but #10 and #15 are much more common for surgery. Been assisting for 23 years.

They (#11) have the same basic shape; a sharp point and straight cutting edge, although the #11 scalpel blade has more acute angle and even sharper point than hobby blade. #11 scalpel blades are all I use for hobby work, they are a LOT sharper and about half as thick as X-acto blades, but don't hold the edge as long maybe. They also won't take as much punishment as the hobby blade, but I can cut a wing's worth of balsa before needing to change one.

I use both depending on the material and the task. Have an assortment of blades for each handle type.

Warning to people using scalpels: be very, very careful. You can do MAJOR body damage in a single mistake. I have not as yet and am trying my best not to. You can do serious damage to your hand just mounting the blade, or removing it

Kids don't try this at home. We're trained professionals here............WOOPS..........anybody got any suture handy?

I know this is off topic, but a great story......... At work one day, the instrument tech was handing the scalpel (#10 blade) to the surgeon, and for whatever reason (neither one paying close enough attention), it got dropped in the pass, and fell blade first....through the surgeon's gown.........down his pant leg (between the cloth and his skin)......out the bottom of his scrub pants......and stuck in the floor next to his shoe...........AND NEVER CUT HIM. I'd rather be lucky than good.
