Rog, I noticed that Airborne is still showing that Super Frontier 20 on their price reduction page for $70. I will call Paul this morning & see if he still has any left or not. I can't drive over there today because my wife went to work with my wallet in her purse this morning[&:] don't ask, it's a long story! Anyway I can call him. I'll let ya know what I find out.

Ok I got good news & bad news. There are no more Super Frontier 20s left. The good news is he has a nice aluminum spinner for my P-51 that he said he would let me have for $25. They do still have a little 1/8 scale J3 Cub .26 if you are interested. The J3 is a little pricier than most of what we've been looking at in these 25 size ARFs though. It is $99.99, but a nice looking little bird!! Here is the link to it if you want to have a look. It is listed under scales on their website. Paul said he has these in stock if anyone wants one.

P.S. Piper, I don't about paradise but it is a large warehouse chocked full of planes!!

Has anybody here ever built the CG Eaglet? If so, has anybody tried one with a .15 engine? I may be interested in one as a second plane, because I don't like all the space my Nexstar takes up.

A flying buddy from a long time ago learned on one. I'm pretty sure he used a .15. Keep it light and it would be fine.

Chuck and I spoke about this earlier too...I said it in another post around here somewhere...this is why I'm moving up to .15 from 1/2A and down to .25 from .40,,sure bigger flys better but if it wont fit in the car, what good is it? and while the 1/2a stuff is a blast, its not always the easiest to work with,,but another 1/2a plus is you can scratch out a plane for $5 worth of balsa easy...
EG thanks for lookin anyway....Rog

Well, some of the locals may think I'm dumb for getting "another trainer". But, I see nothing wrong with making things a bit more convenient for myself. I can always use the Nexstar for heavy work (if someone wants their glider towed, but they'll need to set a date in advance). Maybe if CG gets enough orders for Eaglets, they might even build an ARF!

Oops, never mind. I forgot this thread is about trainers. It might make a nice second plane though?

The Eaglet builds quite quickly. You really could have the plane at the "ARF" stage in 12 hours. I built mine when I was 11. Flew for well over 100 flights with an OS .20. A .15 would fly it fine.
Build one. You wont regret it.

Rog, it's probably best that you don't bring it to your fly-in, you know what kind of grief a pink airplane will cause!

I had a pink kite at one time. Actually, it was a HOT pink and very sharp. The guys at the soccer field had a good bit of respect for it, because it was one of those Hawian stunt kits, it sounded like something between a 747 and a hornet when going ballistic in its turns too. These kites would pull very hard, and this one would travel at speeds up to 150 miles per hour. Of course, that's not as fast as dynamic soaring, but still up there with some R/C jets.

I thank you all for the suggestions. It looks like the Eaglet would be the most affordable kit, so I do believe I'll go with it. Meanwhile, I'll have to think up a color theme that would work for it. By the way, the club closest to me has a grass field, so I'll probably have to fit it with 3" wheels. Does anybody care to comment here? I am sure that, some skis, and floats would make it a nice bush plane. Also, a red and white color theme (like found on some Aviat Huskys) and a white Grish prop could make this one really stand out. Take a look at this link:

http://www.aviataircraft.com/images/husk_1_big.jpg

Now, picture an Eaglet with that color theme down to the red nose cone, and a white prop with black tips. Think it would work? Or, perhaps this scheme:

http://www.aviataircraft.com/images/husk_5_big.jpg

Some other ideas can be found on this page:

http://www.aviataircraft.com/media/husky.htm

Well, let me know what ya'll think.

I forgot to mention, the guys at the soccer field were other kite flyers. We were there when it was too windy for the players!

The LT25 is the best 25 size trainer out there. Its as big as other 40 size trainers with a 63" wing span but only requires a 25 size engine. Glue the 2 wing halves together with half the dihedral listed and it will handle windy conditions well and won't flair to bad in the turns. I put an OS32 SX engine in mine and it will take off in 10 feet and go almost vertical! [8D]

That's one funky website, but I did eventually get to the plane. It's a nice looking plane, & I wouldn't worry about the pink bottom. Just slap a couple Barbie stickers on it & you'll be golden!

With Barbie in the left seat, I'm sure you'll get it back just as good as you assembled it. Just look at her housekeeping, cloths, etc. etc.... I mean, the old girl really hates to muss up stuff! I wonder if she would object to the smell of nitro?

Update, the blue and pink plane crashed on me..well not on me but I was doing my normal flying and it deadsticked (normal) and I was low and turned too sharp and lost the wind under the wings and she went in pretty hard..I could fix it but, I'm more of the buy another one kind of guy..so even though I said I wouldnt deal with them I got the thunder tiger .15 trainer..just finished it today...hope to test fly it maybe monday..it is a strange kind of build, but the servo tray is cut perfect for standard servos..hardware leaves a bit to be desired..but I had stuff from other planes so its done, I just have to put the switch in and balance it..3 channel elevator, ailerons, throttle...its a tail (skid) dragger no tail wheel and that .15 Magnum XL should throw it off the ground in 20 feet or less...Rog
