Hi Guys,
Ive got a piper cub and need help because the push rod doesnt work properly. The push rod pulls the rudder left but instead of pushing the rudder right the rudder comes out(gets pulled out the tail plane) Does anyone know what I need to do to make the rudder turn right not be pulled out the tail plane?
Thanks a lot
Matthew

Are the hinges installed but not glued yet? Of course you don't want to glue them until after covering. And are the hinges exactly in the centerline and exactly parallel?

Its a ARF plane and the instructions say were to put it. The rudder has like paper strips in between the rudder and the tail plane so that the rudder can move but when you try turn the rudder right the rudder gets pushed out where its coneccted with the strips to the tail plane. But when the push rod is pulled it turns the rudder fine to the left.
Thanks a lot

Your problem here is that the hinges haven't been properly installed. Those "paper strips" are called CA hinges. They are designed to be glued to the structure using thin CA adhesive. RCU member Minnflyer has done an excellent "how-to" on installing CA hinges. You can find there in the RCU Magazine here: [link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=55[/link]
Hope this helps

a lot of arf's come with the control hinges not installed and sometimes slots for the ca hinges not put in,unless they say pre-glued they usually aren't and i always check my hinges regardless, the reason the rudder comes out is because r/rudder is pushing l/rudder is pulling and there doesn't appear to be any glue or like ken said not glued properly.

I've watched my father (who has been flying for over 20 years [at-the-time, since then quick the club]) crash a J3 Cub and other such planes, and he was a certified member of the air club - a PROFESSIONAL.
With my father being a professional and crashing these types of planes, there is no way a beginner can fly them . . . . . I strongly suggest you do not get one as a first plane . . . . and get a TRAINER
Just my opinion!!!!
