Default Mixing Epoxy Tip

I saw this on DIY the other day and thought it made sense.

Get a cold soda/beer can from the refrigerator.
Turn it upside down and mix the epoxy in the base.
The coldness will extend the working time of the mixture.
Let the remainder harden before puting the can back in the refrigerator.

I take no credit for this suggestion, just passing on info.

Good Luck,

Get a pad of 2 inch square post it notes and a barrel of toothpicks.

Mix, use and discard.

I do similar except I cut up old catalogs (the kind that have glue binding, not staples) into square pads and use either toothpicks (flat kind) or match sticks for bigger mixing jobs. The soda can sounds like a good idea for those times when you want more working time. Thanks for the tip.

I buy package of 150 3 oz plastic bathroom cups. Very cheap. Cut the top part off and use bottom 1/3 to mix and distribute.
Having a container then allows to add thinner if you need to 'paint' the epoxy on.
These cups are good for paint also. These cups are NOT good for acetone.
They are good for isopropyl or denatured alcohol.

AS long as you go to the trouble of getting teh beer from the frig, mihgt as well drink it whiel the glue joint sets up.

I use those little plastic cups that the grand kid's individual applesauce and fruit servings come in.they work great, just toss'em when finished.

Just put the 2 parts in a ziplock baggie, zip it shut, squeeze stuff around until it's mixed. Then cut a small triangle off one corner and apply your mixed epoxy like toothpaste. When you're done, throw the baggie away. With a little caution, you won't even need to wash your hands when you're done. [8D]

LOL! Everybody has their own tip! Here's mine: I buy "single use" epoxy at the Dollar General (for $1, and I buy six at a time) and mix just enough to do the 3 or 4 spots I can handle before it gets hard. I mix on a scrap of my 12-pack of Milwaukees Best Light boxes which never seem to be in short supply. Then I store the the unused epoxy gun standing upright with a baggie over it until next time. Seems you always mix more than you can use. The cold beer can idea is clever, but I would get confused and try to drink the epoxy. When I reach for the wrong thing to drink, it's time to put down the airplane and go to bed.

G'day KW,
I use the lid of an old icecream container, it's a type of nylon, so the Epoxy will peel off after it goes hard, I have use this one for 3 years, & it's still going, no need to buy anything else, & I am recycling, so it's good for the environment, GEEZ I just realized I'm a greeny. Bugger.

I bought a box of dixie cups, the small 3 oz sizes for a couple of bucks. I then went to the craft store and looked for popsicle sticks. I found a bag of 50 for $3, then a bag of 200 for $2.99, Then a box of 500 for $3.50, but hit then big time for a box 1000 for $3.99. I got sticks coming out my.......ears. I pour the epoxy in the cup mix with a stick, use and then throw the cup and stick away. No messes. Just my $.05.

get an old sheet of paper, fold it in half (post-its or postcads from your grandmas visit to cornwall work aswell) then put two equal lines of epoxy (not side by side) then use an old lolly-pop stick or bit of card/balsa wood to mix it up and when its all fully mixed, stick it on whatever youw ant to epoxy and put some rubber bands around it to hold it tight, wipe away excess before it hardens and your done!

Proper job! XD
