It is a great plane! No pun intended. I like the 60 way better than the 40. Both are good, but the 60 is more stable. It might be a bit much if you have never built anything. It is also fast if you are not very advanced. If you get someone that knows what they are doing to help you build and fly it, you won't have any troubles. It is a good bird.

Hope that helps.

It looks like a good plane, but I would choose something more basic for your first kit.

If you have soloed, and looking for a second plane, the 4*40 would be a good one for you to build. The Super Sportster is a fanastic flyer, but having built one, it might be a bit much for a first build. The Goldberg Tiger is also a good project for a first time builder.

A guy here is using a Great Planes Easy Flyer 40 and he's got it doing aerobatics. It looks stable, yet not limiting. Might want to check that out.

I think the Tower Hobbies .40 Uproar is an excellent 2nd plane. It is stable and with the throws turned down can be mild and with the throws cranked up can really burn holes in the sky. The thick wing lets you slow down almost like a trainer for super smooth landings. Its own sale now for less than $40.00 bucks.

Hi pcrum,

I am going to concurr with mscic. The Goldberg Tiger 2 was my first plane built from kit and it was a very good choice. It is also a good first plane to learn how to cover as well. The instructions were very good as well. I would recommend the Super Sportster for maybe your third plane. Some do okay with it for their second plane, but it does move out pretty quickly. I had an OS 46FX in my Tiger 2 and it was a very good match for the plane and the stall characteristics were very good and it was very easy to take off and land.

Jeff
Good luck

BTE Venture 60. Excellent parts fit and excellent building instructions. The Venture is a great flying model too!

Bruce Tharpe is just about the best vendor around. He'll be there to answer any questions that you may have. He has always replied to my email questions.
