Yes, positive to negative for each cell. 5 total cells to make a 6 volt pack. Now for the warning!!! You need to have very good soldering skills if you plan to solder together cells that do not have solder tabs on them. The seals for the battery cell are made from a form of plastic and if you apply too much heat while trying to solder to the battery you will melt that seal. Once the seal is gone the battery is basically ruined. It may keep voltage, but it can now fail at any time and should not be trusted in flight.

if you look on ebay theres a bunch of sellers who have packs in that MAH, and price range,Ken put it right on the $$$ if you don't have the skill to properly solder the batterys together, and if you kill a cell, or dammage it, your looking to get into trouble without knowing it.

Looking to save money on batteries is not recommended - your whole investment in time and money depends on them. The advice against soldering is valid, but there are other considerations.
First of all, for 2500 mAH batteries, you will need a charger capable of 250 mA for the normal overnight charge. You may be told that your 50 mA charger will do the job in 50 hours (2500divided by 50) but that is not true, a full charge will probably never be reached.
A question is do you really need 2500 mAH? The great majority seldom need over 1000 mAH for a days activities. See www.Cermark.net for a more reasonable 1400 mAH 6V pack with welded connections and the proper harness for under $20. Also smaller and larger fresh Sanyo packs. Gud luck.

I get Venom packs at the local hobby shop. That's five cell 1200 mah NiMH packs for just over 20 bucks. They work just fine and can be recharged with my Sirius field charger. The cost savings over those Circuit City and Best Buy packs for your camera are not what you want in your plane. Ken said it all. Without the proper soldering technique, you will destroy the seals and, if you put them in your plane, the vibration alone could open up that solder connection or cause one or more of the battteries in that pack to fail. And that ain't good.
Stick to the battery packs designed for RC flight. Another source is radicalrc.com And he has a very good writeup in his FAQ's section that may interest you.

But, if you are adamant about making your own, I would suggest using one of those thermoinduction soldering guns. I think they call them cold heat or something like that. Just make sure you tug on them pretty good before you pass them off as beuing soldered. You will find that there is a difference between being soldered and just stuck together.

also make sure you understand what polarity is all about. To solder together indvidual cells to make six volts you need to solder together five cells positive to negative to end up with a battery with a pos and neg wire to hook to a connector to plug to the rx.soldering all po's and all neg's together would leave you with only 1.2 volts total
