i have to agree with you bassfisher, fox engs. are those love or hate engs. if your a ture blue eng. man you will uselly lov them if you have a hard time with engs. your prob. hate them. once dialed in they are great. mr. fox did his own thing and 1 minded approach to eng design and developement. the most probematic ones i had are the early .74s i have, went thru some teething probs w/those but i think i got them dialed in. latest head buttons, perry carbs. and os a5 plugs.

Any Advice would be appreciated,

I purchased an old Fox .35 stunt, I know from when I was a kid, that my Dad said that Fox motors love castor, my area shops said that they will run on 15% nitro with a synthetic oil and that it will actually work better than the castor. I'm a traditionalist and nostolgic and very sceptical of the advice. Should I be or is this acurate, good advice? Appreciate the input. Thanks, ,

Ed

A Fox .35 is made to run on 5% nitro and 29% castor oil. Fox and Powermaster both make that blend. LHS is flat wrong. Go to FOX website for more info. I have been flying FOX 35s since mid 60s.

Thanks for the reply, that is what I assumed. I knew they liked a lot of castor, I also thought they like 10% nitro. I will look into getting some fuel as it is niot availible locally. I know that HASMAT has made it difficult and expensive to ship. Appreciate your help!

You can use the fuel from the local hobby shop if you dump a bunch of castor oil in it.

will take 10 oz of castor to a gallon

Any specific type of castor, is it the same castor oil as used for ailments. Thanks,

I use the brand that SIG sells but I think Morgan fuels (Cool Power and Omega) sells castor by the quart. Your LHS should be able to get it for you.

I have a Fox .25 that I've never used, do they make a straight muffler? I don't
care for the downward slanted muffler it came with.
BTW, nice to hear from you Jeffie

Hard to believe I've never checked out Fox's site. I see they only have the up or down
mufflers. I'd like to use the engine in a Seniorita, I should be able to make it work.[sm=shades_smile.gif]

I have one of every motor Fox manufacturing has made.....

Gman, do you even have 1 each of all the oddball, "Mk1, mod9" variants of the .35s and .36s?
They came out with so many different versions that no one I've ever talked to [including hired help] can rattle off a complete list of every engine they ever made.

Just a little something about the glow fuel mentioned. About 1961 I got my first Fox, McCoy and Veco engines for my U-Controls and Free Flights. I could never get these engines to run?? No one else was having problems except me? Then one of the older fellows, I was 12 so he was probably 15, came over to lend me a hand and took one look at my fuel and discovered my problem. I was trying to use my Thumbledrome 1/2 A glow fuel without any luck at all. He switched me over to his 5% nitro fuel and my engines fired right up and started to run just fine. That's the day I discovered what glow fuel was made from and that it came in different mixes for different engines. Last week I found one of my McCoy and Veco engines, brought back a lot of memorys, all good ones too.
