LM,
I still consider myself a newbie even though I have flown (mostly with a buddy box) a few times with my other plane (a nexstar). Are you suggesting I should say I'm experienced just because I've flown a few times. I'm not that nieve. What do you consider theRTF P-51 PTSto be. PTS stands for Progressive TrainerSystem.

Hello All,
I've attached a pic of the P-51 after getting her balanced. I really appreciate all the suggestions. I used the penciI suggestionto balnce her andended up adding 3/4 oz weight to the tail to get her stable. I probably won't geta chance to fly her until the weather gets better here in Okla. I will let you know how she flies.
Thanks again,
bhomer

I don't quite understand your attitude. I certainly didn't say anything that could have offended you. I don't know how you could have read anything from my post to mean I was suggesting you call yourself anything. You yourself said you were a newbie, and you are posting in the "beginners" forum. This leaves a chance that you might not have ever flown, so I was simply asking. It is a mote point now that you have informed us that it is your second plane , but I couldn't have known that.
I have flown this plane, and I still stand by my previous statement, that I feel that it is not the best plane to learn on. PTS might stand for "progressive trainer system" but a p-51 is a p-51. Calling it a trainer is just another way to sell the airplane.
Look forward to hearing about your flights with this airplane.

LM,
I wasn't offended at all. I just got the impression that you weren't concerned about my CG problem and that I shouldn't have the plane because I called myself a newbie. I guess I should have made it more clear as to my experience level. I'll continue to call myself a newbie/beginner until I fill comfortable going to the field and flying until my neck cramps.
I did do my home work before I purchased it and everyone suggested (like you did) that It would be a better second plane than a first plane.

My Feedback: (1)
Bhomer,
Looks good, hard to tell from the pic but seems to be just a touch nose heavy and that is GOOD, it's what you want. If its not I would suggest making it so. It's better to have a slightly nose heay plane on the initial trim flights. Once the plane is trimmed you can start moving the CG back a little at a time to make the plane more responsive. A tail heavy untrimmed plane can either be a hanfull to completely uncontrolable. I would hate to see you loose the plane.
Best of luck with her!

Hello All,
Well, put the P51 in the air today for the first time. I didn't fly her I had a very experienced flyer do it. She ended up being a little tail heavy. So I ended up taking off 1/2 oz of the stick on weights. I also set the fixed flaps up instead of down as the instructions said. After making those adjustments the instructor was very very pleased how she flew. I'm going to get some more time on my Nexstar and then try to take her up myself.
