£ to US$ exchange rate. Was around the US$2 to the £, now is around US$1.50 mark. So bascially you're getting 25 less dollar for your pound.

Exactly.. Good for us in Germany though buying from England..(Cuz it's not only the dollar getting stronger, but the pound getting weaker against other currencies as well.. I ordered my Hyper Mini ST from England and saved a bunch over German prices... Haven't checked the Euro to pound rate in a few weeks though..)

Yeah, but I can't believe it's got stronger against the dollar. The dollar has seemed to become some sort of hedge lately, pushing all the currencies weaker. Everyone seems to be buying dollars in this crazy world and to think all this crap started off from the USA!!!! Go figure. I will see if I can find the dollar / yen chart.

OK, just checked, last year this time, the Yen was around 108.025 Yen to the US Dollar, today it was trading at 95.48 Yen to the US Dollar, which means roughly a 13% decline in the Yen???

Done some calculations based on the V-spec at retail price.

One year ago................
£165 converted to US$ = US$339
US$339 converted to Yen = 32406.39 Yen

Therefore assuming that the cost of the OS has not changed in Japan, which is highly likely, then the following would apply:

Today..................
32406.39 Yen converted to US$ = US$300
US$300 converted to £'s = £193.55

This correlates very nicely with the price on A-main, and just shows how much they are ripping us off here and using the Dollar strength as an excuse.

Current price of V-Spec is around the £220 to £230 mark, which is around £276.50 to £36.50 more than is should be.

Obviously this is all done on nice and neat black and white figures, we have no idea what other extenuating circumstances there may be in the background.

Wow, that's dirt cheap. I have one sitting here that has less than 2 gallons on before the conrod went, but got all new shiny bits, including bearings to rebuild it, was thinking of flogging that and buying an RB S7 instead, hehe.

Why does England not use the Euro?
Always gotta be different... using stupid miles and yards instead of km and meters... gallons rather than litres...
What is this?

Why do you know me personally?
I don't like to stereotype but the English people that come here are extremely vulgar, and speak in an undistinguishable accent. So many times have British people talked to me and I didn't realise they were speaking English. Their vocabulary is foul, they drink to excess, vomit all over the place and are violent.

Lets not forget that statistically petty crime in London is sky high (higher than NY, Moscow etc).

So, overall you just make an assumption that I like British people coming here. Of course I am not racist and I don't care either which way.

My initial comment was to do with my England doesn't employ Euros and so on, which I was hoping someone could give a better explanation rather than "to be different"

spetz has many points there. the english that come for the amazing nightlife are bound to be all over the place...off course these brits are not the ones that bring money to the island... the british who come to the island whith their families to spend time at expensive hotels and sandy beaches bring the money. thay are normally very civilized and polite. these are the british we want not the drunk teens.

anyway, back on subject. the economy is all over the place, engine prices in particular are not going up (or so we think)

most of us didnt want the euro as was said before it seems to give away part of our history, also in the past the pound has been very strong against the euro and accepting the euro would then be lowering our standard of living. also the more we go into europe the more it seems to take away from britain to fund less well of european countries.enough said...the vulgar drunken violent englishman.lol

A lot of British that have settled here in Cyprus are having a tough time now though, as they are getting a pension from England but when converted to Euros it turns out much less

Either way though, I think countries within the EU should adopt EU policies and standards
Wouldn't it be good if one day the whole of EU was just like one large country? Fair enough there is Romania and such which no one wants

I'm opposed to the Euro in principle(they call it the "Teuro" here - "teuer" meaning "expensive" in German.. Basically the cost of living just skyrocketed with it's introduction..), but for my RC addiction it's been pretty good. Shrug..

it also seems os prices are going up more than other brands,as j blaze put earlier price goes up and quality goes down. that should have a great(cue sarcasm)effect on sales.

Herrsavage, the price here too went up with the introduction of the euro.
However not due to the euro itself, as in reality everything was meant to be converted so that there is no gain or loss.
1 Cyprus pound was 1.71 euros, so everything should have been converted by 1.71, however what so many shopowners etc did was just double the prices... so the people pay more now... greedy shopowners!

LOL, funny read.

Well, UK has undergone metrification, they no longer use teh British Imperial system (inches, pound forces, pound masses, gallons), they have effectively also converted to the grand old measument system of Napoleon Bonaparte (or at the very least the French revolution), the great metric system of SI (System Internationale, any Francophones, please tell me how to spell that correctly).

Now in line with why engine costs are different and being manipulated, lets look at why teh UK uses Pounds over Euros. At teh time of introduction of teh Euro, teh UK Pound was relatively strong. Even today, teh Pound is still a powerful monetary denomination. So that is why they still use it. And in the European mainland, still see some German folks using Deutchmarks every now and then even though everything is effectively Euros.

Now this manipulation of costs for nitro engins becuase of differing monetary exchange rates is absolutely nothing new. It has always been there and that is how RC distributors and wholesalers go aound making their profits. Instead of doing direct monetary trade and exchange to make profits, they bypass teh exchange fees by doing it through RC products. (Actually, this monetary/goods exchange game applies to ALL goods, not just RCs and nitro engines.)
