I just received my new LOSI 427 to put into my LST2. This is a replacement for the dynalite 427 that never ran correctly for me. I would like to get some use out of this motor. So I want to do it up right if you will.
1. I am going to pull it apart and check for burs or manufacturing defects.
2. I am going to seal all gaskets with a high temp silicone
-I have considered getting the marketed sealant for nitro motors but have decided to use what I have on hand and seems to work just fine.
-I apply a very thin uniform layer to prevent any excess squeezing out into the crankcase.
3. Swap motor
-I have not swapped motors on one of these before but I have removed my current one to inspect it. I am assuming that it will be the same except new motor goes in it's place
-I will be using the original clutch and I will watch the gear mesh when I finally install it.
4. I will follow all this with a Heat Cycle Break in and hopefully begin to enjoy my LST2.
Am I missing anything?
Do you have any suggestions?

any specifics or just 60grit paper and run a few lines length wise around the inside of the bell.
Does this drastically affect shoe life?

Make Sure to use the Collet that Came with the Flywheel & Not the One on the New Engine..........(The LST's Collet is Shorter than Most others) And the Engines are the Same....The Teal head has a Bigger Carb and High Compression Head Button...But other than that they are 100% the Same Engine & both made by SH Engines/Golden lion......

i need to find the parts diagram for this motor to identify the collet, as I can't place it off the top of my head.
I had heard it was a bit more powerful to push a single speed tranny. I look forward to running it.
Thanks for the input
