Center shafts are not really a high wear item. I have only managed to bend one so far and haven't bent any on the JT chassis.

The extra length would be nice but I think the extra width would be more usefull.

Rolland…

Why would you like to see the chassis wider? (just curious)

To All…

I think I’m going to make the first batch close to the JT chassis. Then, as the Magnum parts become more available… and if there is actually some interest… I’ll look at a longer version. That is… unless everyone just wants the 1.5 inch stretch now. If I do the 1.5” stretch… it will probably fit “T-Maxx” sized bodies better. (but you WILL have to buy a new center shaft)

Lastly… My metal break should be here shortly. (to bend the front of the chassis properly)

I've gotten a few magnum parts on ebay and Magnum parts are pretty much fully available at www.customrccars.com. However, I don't see the center shaft on there. Maybe I'll send him an email and see if they are available or what, and how much they are.

Personally i would prefer the longer chassis to fit the maxx bodies.
That's just me though.

There are plenty of other bodies that will fit, in all fairness. But... I really dont mind - wider and/or longer or JT length - I really dont mind. Obviously the JT setup will work with stock items, so it seems sensible to try that first.

Ive got way too many custom chassis ideas myself! Lets keep it simple for now, get DrH some cash in first - twist his melon later...!

Did we reach a decision on the tope plate/s?

The main reason for the wider chassis is to accommodate larger fuel tanks and different radio and battery boxes. If the stock components are used the current chassis dimensions are fine.

It doesn't necessarily have to be wider for the production run. The main reason that I asked is that I wanted to know if it would be possible to order a custom one. I probably should have waited until you had the first one made before I asked. Sorry for the confusion.
This will be for a project that I have in mind and it can wait until after you have satisfied the majority of potential orders.

Hi guys,

OK… I just got an offer to receive some stock parts to help make the new chassis and top brace. Since I got this offer… I plan on making the top brace better, so it will reduce the flexing. (like we ere talking about before)

Also… the reason I haven’t been around as much as normal is because my wife was toward the end of her pregnancy. (had to take care of her) I know some of you may like to know, even though this is off topic. My daughter was born 9:30 on Wed night. (8.5 Lbs, 19 inches long) Her name is Nicolina Ferraro. I should be bringing her home from eh hospital tonight. And as long as my wife is doing OK… I’m taking a week off from my normal day job… and I should be able to push these chassis forward.

Rolland… I’ll PM you later on the custom stuff.

Congratulation Dr Honda!!!! This your first? My daughter is 5, my son is 7. Best 2 things I ever did in my whole life!

On the ARO Chassis, anyone reckon I will have any problems fitting it to my son's ATX? I am definitely going to snag one, but I would really like to put it on the ATX. It really needs a stiffer chassis and putting a roll bar under that tight fitting top is a little difficult. Also, do the stock bodies fit with the JT Chassis and will they fit with this new one?

Congrats Tony.... I have an 11 year old an 18 month old and another due in october... thankfully I timed it towards the slower time of the r/c season... Hope the wife and baby are doing well...
One question however... have you any experience in changing diapers?.... The first few times are the toughest.... thankfully.. baby poop doesn't smell.... just looks terrible...

Congratulations Tony,

You are going to face a lot of changes in your life, all worth the effort. Give your wife all the support you can, she'll need it.

I have 2 boys myself aged 7 and 3 1/2 and expecting a third one in December.

At the moment Spentona Jr is due in November but we have to wait for a scan to get better date.

Hi All…

Thanks for the kind words on the kid. I don’t have any diaper changing experience… but over the past week… I’ve gotten plenty. The only drawback is that this kid thing is realy cutting in to my shop time.

OK… just an update… and to keep things on track…

I received a bunch of stock parts from a loyal follower on Friday… and this will allow me to really design a strong center brace. I have some alloy stock in hand… and my bending break is in waiting.

I know I’ve been saying this for a while… but I should have some first shots… or at least some CAD drawing done this week. So, keep you eye out for them.

Thanks for your support guys.

Just wondering if the Doc is back in business yet, or still busy...

Getting a little more chassis flex now with the .28 in there
