well...figured i'd post an update...got my new transmission...when i took apart the old one there was like 5-6 gears that were missing teeth, so im going to contact CEN about replacements.
Got the new trans, locked the center diff and put the whole car back together...also got my nemesis screw set so that i was able to mount my two new nemesis diffs down...
tried yesterday to get it started....no luck...i think my glow ignited might have been dead...charged it and tried this morning...no luck...ended up burning up my rotostart....doh!...
got home from work this evening and brough my cordless drill home...after a few tries she reved right up...ran okay...needed to be tuned real bad, but i was just making sure that it started and the new trans was good.... so im hoping to take it out tomorrow and give it a run, if the weather permits...
also, has anyone tried using homeade nitro, like my one lhs makes their own nitro, only 15 bucks a gallon...thinkin of trying some out tomorrow, what % range should i stay in, i think i saw 10%-30% i've been using traxxas topfuel 20% (all my other lhs carries)
should also be getting my revo either this week or next week as well. so ill do a comparison if theres a point where both cars are functional...lol....
also plan on resurrecting my smartech magic wheel (tmaxx 1.5 clone) so that will be a huge difference from the gst.

well..first time running it in a while...and what do ya know...one of the eyelets for the rear breaks wasn't tight and fell out....lost forever...but not to fear, i hacked up a body clip and use that and it worked sucessfully........my other problem i was having it that the truck kept throwin the breaks on....which i soon realized that it was my failsafe, since my transmisster antenna was broken from the inside...so im glad the failsafe works...
other than that, im still working on tuning it right....seems like it runs good, but the temps get really hot...but then i richen it a bit, and it is very slugish.....
also i cannot pull wheelies.....locked the center diff.....nemesis diffs in the front and rear...now the front tires bouce a little bit when its goin fast.....but can't get the wheelies......thinkin it might have something to do with the rollcage i have installed weighin it down.....
but anyways off i go to give it another run today.

Hey unlawfull, The extra wieght of the cage and the bad tune would definitly keep the front end down. Keep at it you'll be ammazed at the power once you get it tuned, but it sounds like you are heading the right direction..
Have fun!!

i think one of the major causes of loss of power is the bad exhause gasket....as mentioned in the other thread.....i took it apart and saw there was only a small piece of rubber left....so im guessing that is causing the engine to lean out a lot without the extra power....because i can tune the motor leaner and the front end "tries" to come up, but my heat levels get very high very quickly....also im sure this would effect the back pressure and pressure in the gas tank as well....
also a servo went bad on me.....it seemed like any type of resistance on it makes the motor jam and make noises.....are these repairable? or should i just get a new one? i took it apart and all the gears are in tact with no damage...so im guessing its the actual motor...

unlawful,
the OEM servos are actually disposable. I found the first thing to go on them is the brass "pinion" gear at the motor, it sounds like yours has stripped. I found by pulling the pinion and flipping it you can get a few more runs in.
and you are right, the missing gasket will cause overheating big time, as well as great power loss.

I used to have problems with excessive heat, I'd richen it up 1/8 turn and it ran like a dog and only lost a few degrees.
It turned out to be the cheap fuel I was using, unbeknown to me it did not have enough oil in it!!
But I only found out after, breaking a crank [:@], then the con rod.[:@][:@]
I bough better fuel with the correct amount of oil and now is it a monster and running well below the safe limit!!!

i am using a different fuel than usual....its called blue thunder....suppose to be pretty good, has some additive in it that stops the piston from moving if the engine over heats....
but i've been using top fuel for the longest time (was the only fuel my lhs carried for a while) my new gaskets should be here soon, so we'll see what happens....im also getting a infared temp gauge thingy so i can see how acurate my venom temp gauge is....

Devo,
There could be other things wrong, and as Scott And unlawfull has suggested, cheap or inferior fuel could be the problem. You could test that by adding a small percentage of castor oil to your fuel and see if it will affect your temps. But you can't forget all the other things that could cause a lean air:fuel ratio and overheat your engine. Things like a leak in your crank case back plate, your crank bearings, air leak around the base of the carb, your head shims having debris between them, ven the exhaust gasket. A VERY small air leak will cause this overly lean condition. You just have to take your time and look very carefully at ALL possibilities.
I hope this helps
Oh forgot about the fuel tank not holding pressure will cause the leaning issue..

Pretty much everything has been covered in previous posts, but one word of warning on the Blue Thunder Fuel.
I used to use it on several different RCs, and I was having some issues with one way bearings in the pullstart failing constantly and with a build up of "gunk" in the engine, and somewhat lackluster performance. I did a lot of searching and asking questions and it turned out to be the fuel. I guess they Dye they use causes problems for some people. Switched fuel and had all my problems solved.
Not that this will solve your overheating, but just keep it in mind if you have other issues as I described above.

I tried Blue Thunder and found it to be okay.
I only put 1 litre through it as it was a stop gap as my lhs had sold out of my usual Torrnado fuel.

well...had a good run today....last night i put the new exhaust gasket in....man was that a pain....i ended up using a super small zip tie to hold the gasket in place so it wouldn't slide toward the motor when i put it in......yes i tried wd-40 and oil to slip it on easy... but it seemed to work good....
i started the car and it was sluggish as can be, extremly slow......so i kept an eye on the temps and they were only at 170degrees now that i fixed the exhaust gasket. so i was able to lean the motor almost a full turn (3/4 i think) to get the temps around 220. after that it was working real nice, i was running it with my brother who i let use my new revo, they both seem to have they advantages. but i was jumping the truck over a dirt hill (wanted to get a vid together, but i didn't feel like drivin home to find my camcorder....next time...) all was working good then a tie-rod end fell off....simple fix, had extras screws available. but a little while latermy right front a-arm broke and the axel fell out....so looks like i can snap it back in (no more jumps till i get a replacement tho....) was looking at getting the aluminum ones, but i dont have that kind of money right now, so ill have to stick with the plastic ones....
all in all.....im very impressed with the truck's performance as well as the functionality of the roll cage. having that air leak at the gasket completely destroyed the performance, let alone made a heck of a mess all over the truck. also i am very glad i locked my diff, i imagine i probably wouldn't even be able to climb over some of the curbs i climb over if it wasn't locked..
also......if my truck is up against a curb and i have to give it probably half throttle till it climbs over it...is that going to burn up my clutch shoes? just wanna know so i can order extras if i need to (might try out the aluminum ones)

Unlawful glad you had a good day's run.. I curb jump all the time. I bump up against a curb with my front wheels, give it gas and then slam on the brakes while in the air to cause the truck to rotate forward to land on the front wheels, Cool to see. I have yet to change the clutch shoes, the OEM shoes are very durable.
Anyway, glad the gasket replacement solved your peformance problems.
Enjoy your truck now

Hey Darkfire,
Do you have a set on your truck??? check out my gallery, I've mine for a while and I beat the living snot out of my Nemesis with The Aluminum arms from GPM. They hold up GREAT on those BIG jumps!!!! I bent the lower hinge pin on the left rear, without bending the lower arm!!!! So...
Now the really cool thing is CEN is coming out with their own Aluminum Suspension for the Genesis series trucks. In fact they even have the part #'s but no prices, yet. [link=http://www.cenracing.com/cars/genesis/upgrade.html]The Part Numbers Can Be Found Here!![/link] In fact, keep your eyes open for my pre-release review of them some time in Mid to Late June '07 I am so stoked!!!
So Unlawful I hope you can wait until then before you buy!!! If you can and you still want to run your truckin the mean while, I will send you a couple OEM arms to get you going, for free.. Let me know brah..From One Hobbyist To Another!!!

except when you take that huge jump and they start to bend.

I am with you there.
I fitted GPM alloy arms on my Genny during my 'Spring overhaul' a few weeks back, but I managed to bend one of the rear upper arms on the first outing!!!![:@][:@]
Its not like I was even going mad as I had my new shell on and didn't want to screw that up out the fits run.
I think I cart wheeled the thing once, but that is it
. So I am not too impressed. [
] At least plastic flexes.I see if I can straighten it when its off next.

Dogman,
No I dont have aluminum on my Revo, Im not trying to say that aluminum is bad or anything but if it does bend it wont be fun to replace because aluminum is expensive. Normally I would like to buy parts from aluminum but I dont have the money. [:'(]

I did not intend for there to be any harsh feelings. I have just had great luck with my GPM suspension. Also, I dont think $24/pair for the lower and $26/pair for the upper is not that bad at all. It could be $1000 for a set of rims for your camaro or something right??? LOL just kidding..
Anyway, have fun!! and Unlawful that arm is on the way brother.
