mobileraptor,
PayPal is a great swindle in my experience ------ he has had simalar experiences and goes into some detail to explain how and why.
I think you'll find a large and growing number who won't touch PayPal either as buyer or seller.
I know I have. I no longer accept it either and if that queers the sale it probably is for the better of all save eBay.
The stories are all quite similar as are the non-existent resolutions of complaints.
The fact that he won't accept PayPal is a plus in my book ------ proves he has experience with the "system". -----and rates it as I do.

I've been using it since it started up and I can't complain at all! Very fast at reasonable rates. I suppose if you live at the bank you could get Cashiers Checks but they are $2.50 and up down here in Florida -- more than PayPal on a lot of my purchases. I see where Tower Hobbies is also on PayPal now. Here in Florida the banks are closed on Saturday and Sunday so to get a Cashiers Check or Money Order I need to take time off work and I'm not going to do that!

My Feedback: (1)
What I like about it is that it's instant. There have been situations in my extended family where people needed cash on the spot. Since they have Paypal debit cards there is really no imaginable situation in which they couldn't get money within minutes if necessary.

I too would like to hear about a PayPal "swindle". I've been using it for paying and getting paid for purchases for over 3 years with NEVER a problem in over 85 transactions... Sure, it costs a couple of percent... but.. no hassles.. and I really like the debit card.... so.. fire away with the nasty reasons why I should question the service..

This seems to be the problem. I keep reading about how evil it is, but then the discussions just stop. Never any concrete examples of what is so bad.
One nice thing about the debit card is that you get 1% cash back. That in effect lowers my state sales tax by 1% every time I use it. On big purchases that adds up.

Funny how the people "swindled" by PayPal disappear when asked how........ why is that???

Wow! good to see I'm not the only person who is into the old style pattern planes. When Southern R/C went out of business my parents and I were living in Pensacola, FL, and it just so happened my dad was good friends with Ron Chidgey, Tony Stillman, Steve Helms, and Rhett Miller. Anyway, my dad bought a lot of their inventory, and we still have quite a bit of it left. There's a fiberglass fuse or two which I believe were made for the Tiger Tail towards the end of it's production run, I could be mistaken though. We also have a couple of sets of foam cores (most Southern R/C designs used the same core, that distinctive double-tapered wing). I don't know if any of you has ever built one of their planes, but the sheeting wraps around the leading edge of the wing rather than having a balsa leading edge. Anyway, when I started flying my dad still had his Compensator in flying condition, so when I got good enough we started competing. Sad to say the compensator bought the farm due to radio failure, but one of my current projects is building a memorial to it. I got my hands on a Gator Flea (the .40 size Compensator). I plan to finish it exactly like the compensator was. Anyway, I guess I've rambled on enough. It was nice to wax nostalgic for a minute though.

I never had a Tiger Tail but I did have two Bobcats, the 40 size, back in the early 70s. They were great flying airplanes with a K&B 40. I would love to try one with a 46.
That $200 is about right. In todays dollars the kit would probably have cost more than that when it came out in the 70s. A Bobcat went for over $200 back in February. I know because I wanted it but got beat out by a "collector".
As to Paypal, I never had problems with it. I did get a lot phishing email even before I signed up.

If anyone is interested, I have a Tiger Tail that was built and flown by Walt Throne of Walts Hobby's back in the 70's. I believe he won or placed in the Nats with it. It comes with Rhom Air Retracts and I could also include a Webra Speed .61 (the best engine I've ever used) or a like new HB .61. The foam wing has a small crack in it from being bumped into while in storage that can easily be repaired with a little epoxy. I'm not sure what it's worth but if a kit is going for $200 I imagine the finished plane must be worth that much or more. I remember this plane as being a rock solid flier that could be flown in any wind conditions. If anyone is interested I will dig it out and take some pictures. I also have a fully built and never flown Dirty Birdy, a Top Flite P-51B, some Quickie 500's, an H-Ray, a Falcon 56 kit, a half built Kaos and a Giant Scale Tiger Moth. I really love these old birds but the Electric bug has bitten and I don't see myself going back to Nitro.

Sorry it took so long but I was finally able to dig the planes out and take a few pictures the Kaos parts and 1 Quikee 500 are sold already but here's the rest. Some are in better condition than I remember them and some are worse. I'll do my best to describe them. The Tiger Tail should probably be repainted. There are 2 repairs to the wing that were done quickly to get it flying again that could be refinished or just fly it the way it is. There is also a crack that needs to be opened up and repaired. The paint is flaking off the the fiberglass fuselage in spots, especially under the engine compartment. I might be able to find the pump to pump up the retracts, but don't count on it. The Dirty Birdi has never been flown and is in great shape except that the canopy has begun to seperate from the fuselage. I was going to glue it back on but I thought someone may want to change out the Snoopy pilot. This is a Balsa Kit with Imeron paint. No other problems. The Top Flite P-51 is in great shape except that the antenna mast is broken off and the plastic exhaust stacks are cracked and coming off. They were glued on top of the monokote so should be no problem to replace. The marking stripes were painted on and most came off when I cleaned it . The stickers are yellowed and could stand to be replaced but they kind of give it a weathered look. 5 channels including flaps. The Quikee 500 is in good condition except for a strip of monokote that ripped off the fuselage near the wing area and under the engine compartment. The horizontal stabalizer is also cracked but could easily be repaired. An extra wing is included but needs a minor repair on the leading edge. This would be a nice, fast flying .40 size sport plane. A canopy would make it look good. The biplane is primed and needs to be finished. I think it was a Bridi kit but I can't remember. The name Astro something seems to stick in my mind, but I can't remember. There is a one inch x two inch piece of balsa broken out by the canopy. I think the covering is something like coverite but I'm not sure. I can't find the hardware or moving surfaces so this one will be a project. These are all well built planes. I also have an H-Ray Trainer plane. While I was taking the pictures my dog stepped on the wing taking out 2 ribs and the monokote. No major structural damage though. I've had a lot of inquiries and I'm not sure what they are really worth. I was thinking of putting them on ebay but I haven't decided for sure yet. I also have a Webra Speed .61 w/ racing and original exhaust. HB .61, Webra 6.5ccm (.40), Cipolla 4ccm (.25 I think) racing engine (brand new), Supretigre .90, and an OS .10
