Isn't the plus ten larger than this one? It seems the OS 25 would be toooo big. There doesn't seem to be a .19 on the market. Would you believe that I have a K&B 19 still in the box after over 20 years? It is so pretty, can't take a chance on messing it up. Anyway no muffler on the vintage stuff.

i had a Super Tigre .23 (loop scavenged) in the +10 and it weighed over 3.5 lbs...........went like stink.
the original was a bit smaller and will be a fantastic flyer on the same engine if the weight is kept to around 2.75 lbs.

an OS 25 of the same era wasn't more powerful than the ST 23's in that time era.
the schneurle OS 25's would be great for the +10, but a bit too much for the original FF.
your K&B 19 would be perfect for the original FF.
really miss the days when K&B was on top.

you know it.........there's not much to cut really.

just got an Email from Gary Ernst of Robart. looks like the source for the front coiled strut. since they are straight, i can bend them to match.

Mike, that would be superfantastico! I've got a schnurle ported BB Fox .19 that would be just groovy for that old bird.

saw a wanted ad in the Scale forum so i guess this one is OK to post.
i have a Classic Pattern project going which i will also kit later next year. the Super Tigre .23 is a great engine for the plane.
the problem is finding a muffler for the ST .23.
the NIB one i have is an original red box version that came with an exhaust butterfly, but no muffler.
the one i bought off Ebay last week was said to be new in the box...........when i got it i was amazed that it was a new case, backplate and head, but the inards were used parts......lousy compression, and to boot, a slopping conrod and almost 1/8" of end play in the crankshaft.
the seller agreed to take it back for refund, but there goes the muffler as he wanted to whole deal sent back.

there has got to be a ST .23 muffler floating around somewhere, so please post if you have one or know of one that someone wants to sell.

thx

Hi all

Another Engine option is the HB 20/25 Engines, I have a nice near new 25 :- It fits like a glove !!!

The engine has a radial mount as part of the engine this fits in place of the engine mount on the fire wall
showen on the plan, the length of the engine also is correct fit.

I bought mine a while ago, I have been looking for nice plane to put it in, a Flea fly looks the go.

how many might be interested in a FF kit at this time?

today i received a Midwest Flea Fli +10 kit.
i had a wanted ad on RCG and a member over there who goes by BStaley notified me that he had one. he was real BRUTAL WITH THE PRICE TOO.......LIKE $25.00....for a new never unpacked FF kit. how is that for a gentleman in our hobby?

i also won a NIB X25 Bluehead for a real fair price and it too is in pristine condition. i'm thinking these 2 would be a match.

Here in Sunny Australia Unbuilt kits of anything getting to be a very rare thing.

The LHS only stock ARF !!! [&o] Scratch building is getting hard as the shops do not stock alot of bits []

So I have started gathering up the bits to build a Flea Fly from Scratch.

I have a Good stock of Balsa and Ply, a HB 25 thar runs well and, I have managed to find most of the
Simple but hard to get bits

The hardest things to find here are -a 4OZ fuel tank that fits and the 25 size landing gear wing block Set

For the fuel tank I am using a OLD KAVAN 4oz tank (Out of my Junk box)

Landing gear wing block set is a Stirling Model wing blocks >Old Model Shop Stock!!!

I will post photos once I have it Built

Regards

Mike,

nicely done on the ST G .23 and the X .25! I happen to have bought one of each as well in the last couple of years. Like you, I was also missing a muffler for the .23 (and a .15 that uses the same case) but I discovered that the one that came with the X25 is actually a perfect fit for the 23. In fact, I'm pretty sure that the muffler on the .25 is actually designed for the .23 and that it didn't do a great job on the more powerful X25. I decided I wanted to use a pipe on the 25 in any case for a more recent classic ('80's) - probably a 20 sized MK design - and so I had my muffler for the 23 which is to go on a 40" span Deception I built last winter.

Great score on the FF+10 kit too! Are you thinking of tracing a kit from this one or from the standard FF? Whatever the case, I'm down for one or two. I got plans printed this weekend and have been contemplating whether to add it to my winter schedule or do a Pacer instead.

In any event, I look forward to your build and keep us posted with progress on the kit.

John, looking forward to your build too. Take some snaps every once in a while to show us your progress if you're up for it.

David.

Ok I wil post a few pic's as I build it

Only Because David Asked

I found Most of the bits required, I am still looking for a canopy and some sutable Horns for the Alerons, I am going to build
mine just like the plan with one wing servo and bellcranks as it is only a small plane there will be very little slop.

There will be not a lot of progress, as I will be a Away for Training in Sydney for two weeks on a Server Course. [&o]

Anyone in Sydney Know of any Grotty Old model Shops with old MK Kits, vintage Engines still boxed, lots of old stock of nice pattern parts ect and no ARF's

Yes I am Dreaming again...... I did find one once in Melbourne in the 1980's, I wish I had More $$$ then. It was closed down when I went back to buy more!!!![X(]

nope, the BH X25 i got went for 80 bucks.
it's actually NIB and pristine.......sometimes you get what the seller advertizes.
http://cgi.ebay.com/SUPERTIGRE-G-25-...item3ef9d5aeed

a week ago though i paid 78 bucks for what was suppose to be a NIB ST .23......when i got it, you could see that someone put it together out of used inards.........the seller took it back.

OK, i thought you were talking about the x25.
in my other thread i showed the BH G60 that i won, and yes it was 257.00 to be eact...........i could have had it for 219.00 but i put my bid in about 15 seconds too early. the other bidder countered and bump my number up......i didn't care, i wanted it.
i've had 2 offers for it for 300.00. gonna keep it.

Jeff has been helping me, so when all the details are worked out, we can go for it.
also remember, Tower carries a clear canopy that is a perfect match to the plan.

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJ934

need to know what to include if we do kits.

John,

That's the spirit! Thanks for taking the plunge. I find it takes a little courage to do build threads even if they are casual - they take some work. But, in the end, they keep you motivated and it's great to share builds of classics amongst aficionados!

Mike,

you might as well include the canopies in the kits - one less thing to think about and more easily taken care of source. (I plan to include them in the MK 20 size kits once they leave the drawing board.) Beyond that though I wouldn't get too involved with hardware. Choosing stuff like that is part of the fun in building these older designs. Everyone can use what they like. It also keeps the kit price and shipping down as presumably the box is smaller and lighter (at least marginally). The only wood you might want to consider not including is standard size sheeting unless it is custom cut. Again, most people can easily source 1/16" or 1/8" stock for example. On the other hand, triangle stock and other stick balsa is trickier and not always and everywhere available. If you have a reliable source, you might as well include that stuff. Of course, all the laser parts both balsa and ply are mandatory. I guess that's obvious.

And since there is much talk about ST blueheads, I thought I'd post up my three puppies: an X25, an S40 and an X60. Love these guys!

Oh yea, and the X11 which is unfortunately not a BH though they too existed.

David.

And the G20/.15 and G20/.23 - though they have to share carbs and mufflers as I only have one each. I'm really growing quite fond of this 40-50" class of airplanes.

That was the one SW, when I felt it would go past $200 I stayed out; my problem is I'd fly the danged thing. I took my old one apart, cleaned it up(need to fab a mylar gasket), now she looks good as new and will be in the old Tiger Tail again. Good job getting that one. I'd love to get an old Kraft .60, NIB or used, gotta keep watching.
