I had a Prophecy, great plane, but I felt that the Sequel flew better. It was much easier to get it to break into the spin easier than the Prophecy. The P would float right past center if you weren't careful. The sequel was the BEST landing plane I have ever flown. Set the AoA, and control the slope with throttle and it would land like a butterfly with sore feet on the center mark every single time.
Chip Hyde agreed with me about the Sequel flying just a touch better than the P.
I flew a Dr. Jekyl, Sequel, and Prophecy. The Dr.J had a bit more wing loading I felt, but it flew great. I Miss the sequel...[] I still have my YS 1.20 that I had in it.

Jeff..

Thanks for the info...

If you want have a look at this website and take a look at "The One"

Now...if I'm not mistaken, I thought I remember reading this airplane was the Sequel (re-named of course)...I may be remembering wrong...It's one of that lineage ie: Jekyl, Dr. Jekyl or Sequel...I'm really thinking it's the Sequel though...I want one and have never forgot the website..I just got too much stuff already...

I don't know these guys but I'm pretty sure they are the same folks I got my Prophecy kit from several years ago (Lamar and Jerry)... If I'm not mistaken they use to be called Dixie Competition Products which is who I got the Prophecy kit from. It's a nice kit...

You might wanna give them a call and get the "scoop" so maybe you could build another Sequel....

Sorry in advance if I got it wrong and it's not the Sequel...But I think it is...

Chuck

P.S. Relying on my memory isn't very reliable...

All three of mine were built by Dixie Competition which was John Ferrell and Dave Guerin. I am not sure of the exact relationship, but John had the fuses made down in FL(???maybe??) and the Dave would build them.

Edited:
Yeah..Your right...My Prophecy came from Dixie Competition Products...According to my paperwork it seems like "Dixie Competition Products" sold the airplanes and "R/C Workshop" offered the building services...

Not sure where or why I thought Lamar and Jerry were in the mix on the Prophecy?? Oh well I can't remember anything these days...Just seems like I talked to them before but maybe not...

Hi all, I just bought a 1.20SC from a friend and it is a strong running engine. I am not familiar with tuning a YS with an idle mixture though. This is new to me, I have several (5) YS 1.20SF engines with no low speed mixture adjustment. Just the brass regulator screw on the pump regulator.
The engine seems to run fine, but there are a lot of air bubbles in the fuel line from the pump to the carb at idle speed. This engine has a shady background and no paperwork to support tuning the mixture. Shady in that it survived a home shop fire.
That is why there is no smoking in my shop.
I would appreciate any information on tuning this engine properly. It is a horse and I like it. Just want to know I have no messed it up some how.

There is a forum about Glow Engines,

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_114/tt.htm

I did find one thread in that, maybe there are more:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_16.../tm.htm#165151

but you alsways can start an own thread to explain your question.

I am an a life long friend of Steve Stickers and I have the molds and plugs for the Excalibur II along with my own plane. Here inlies the issue with getting kits from myself. I do not have any copies of the plans or the originals to make copies from for customers. There were a few wood parts that had to be made to fit into the fuse and I would have to start from scratch to provide this to others. I have tried in the past to locate a set of plans but with no sucess. The last two kits were to local friends but one was lost and the other one is hanging in GPA hobbies and they may have a copy of the plans as Eric Baugher never threw anything away. Eric passed away eariler this summer and I am in charge of his R/C estate so I may find a set there. If enough people are interested I may make a run of semi kits where you as customers worry about making the structures from scratch as modelers of old still can do.

try Leo at Klasskotemo. He has accumulated many molds for older pattern designs.

Email Leo. His kit list is not showing most of the molds he has acquired. However, Dave Guerin kitted the Prophecy, Sequel, Brio, etc. and he may still own the molds. Dave was in North Carolina.

David,

You can always come over to the dark side and start scratch building. I find it easier than building kits. Find a plan you like and blow it up to whatever size you want. I have been doing it since the 70s. Nothing like a 84" Kaos. Believe me, the bigger they are the better they fly. The last two are not pattern planes, but I still fly them like they are.

The one under construction was called a Revenger. I clipped the plan out of RCM who knows how long ago. Just building it 72" span, and 72" fuselage. Like I said, scratch builders can do anything they want.

Holly cow Tom,

How in the world did you find this thread? . . . LOL BTW, your big Kaos looks AWESOME. . . . . . I quit coming to this site not long after I started this thread, when RCU was having so much trouble. To be honest, I've been less than thrilled with all the changes they made to the site. Especially the Ads between posts in a thread. I completely understand the people who are running the website now are trying to make a little money on it, but give me a break.

Unfortunately, I do not have allot time to build a kit. No less, cut my own kit and build it too. Maybe some time in the future, I will start scratch building. Thanks for bringing back allot of good memories,

David

David,

I have only been on the RC forums for a couple of years. Always lived in the country with lousy internet until recently. By the way, my computers are Macs, and Safari has a button that says, "Block pop-up ads." It works, so I missed the troubles you are talking about…

I have posted build threads on both here and Groups, and frankly, spend more time on Groups where my Blog is. Check out my build threads - third post down. Their software is far easier to post builds to, an who wants a blog without photos? According to Universe I have no planes, because mine are all scratch built, not kits or (gag) ARFs they have listed.

Here is another of my smaller pattern plane, a another favorite fliers. 65" span with an OS 90. It is now 10 years old and flies far better than I do.

High Tom,

I went to RCG when I left this site too. There are allot of the old RCU Classic Pattern people on that site and that is where I spend quite a bit of my spare time. I like the plane you just posted a pic of. It does look like it flies well indeed. I have a similar problem with my Dalotel that you have with your plane. It flies much better than I do, but I thoroughly enjoy flying it.

Take care,
David
