Another Curare article and a Magic 20 plan in .pdf and .jpg were added to the articles-plans-instructions page of the web site.

Also, here is a list of 117 countries that have visited the site since January 14 when it first went public. I thought you all would like to know where on the planet your fellow classic pattern fliers hail. We also reached 2,000,000 hits for the year on Thanksgiving Day!
I keep a list of these countries on a page with a Wikipedia link for each one and the date they visited. It's the [link=http://www.trentonrcflyers.com/visitingcountries.htm]Visiting Countries[/link] page.

ChiefK,
That plane was pulling double-duty...I had it listed as a Compensator and an Intruder. It's corrected. Sorry. :-)

Here's a few pics of my Curare, Powered by and ASP .75 with 11x10 propeller. I built it in 1989 and is foam/balsa covered in tissue and dope with enamel paint.

I have recently installed a new ASP75 and with a Perry pump and carb...

I have a tuned pipe for it tucked away and the nosewheel is retractable. I didn't install retracts in the original build but I thought it was about time to put them in, so I've got the nosewheel done but not the mains yet, however I've changed my mind and will put fixed back in.

It looks totally wrong with the nosewheel up and the mains down so I never retract the front....

I'm thinking about building a new one as this one has seen a lot of work (nearly 20 years, hence the new motor) and now I'm older and a bit wiser I know what sort of a job I could do on a newie....

Very nice finishing job. I really like the simple color scheme.

"covering" is dope and tisue paper over balsa, then priming and painting with Taubmans brand "Fiddley Bits" spraycan enamel. Takes days for the undercoat to go off before you can sand it and days-weeks for the paint to harden properly, but when it does, fuel won't touch it and it doesn't get brittle with age. Can't buy it anymore though so I've no idea what to use on my next build.

This is a funny story. I built this back when I was a high school kid and I flogged the colour scheme from a picture in a magazine of a couple of blokes representing AUS in the world F3A champs, well it turns out my older brother, who has only recently entered the sport and lives on the other side of the country, met and is now mates with the bloke whose colour scheme I pinched 20 years ago and I'll be meeting him at the end of January when I take in a holiday and an IMAC comp.

RE: Classic Pattern Plane Image-base

Hey Guys.
You can tell I'm on vacation. Another page was added to the classic pattern site that includes ads from R/C modeling magazines. This is in response to a thread on RC Universe that Freebird (RCU ID) started. Unfortunately, RCU limits image resolution making it nearly impossible to read the ads, so I requested the original scans from the contributors and started [link=http://www.trentonrcflyers.com/pattern/patternads.htm]this page[/link].
If anyone would like to contribute scans, I'm sure everyone would appreciate them.
I'm still looking for articles and plans for that page.

Thanks

Happy Holidays!

Great Work!! We apreciate all your efforts.
I have a copy of instructions for the 1986 version of the Zigsaw Atlanta.
As soon as I can get them scanned I'll send you a copy. They made a couple of changes.

CASniffer,
Great idea with the ads- The Classic Pattern Repository just keeps getting better! Thank you and the Trenton RC club for hosting this. I've been trying to access the "Instructions, Articles and Plans Page" and been getting an error last night and today. Acts like a broken link. Am I doing something wrong or is the page just down temporarily?
jeff

RE: Classic Pattern Plane Image-base

Jeff,
Thanks for the heads-up on the page problem. I added another link to the pattern1.htm page and buggered up the articles link. It's fixed.
The idea of sharing the old ads wasn't mine. It was Freebird's (RCU ID). The text was next to impossible to read because of the resolution limitations of RCU. I thought it would be a nice addition to the site and a good source of information.

Thanks

CAsniffer

Oh yes, much better now CASinffer, thank you! I'm off to Kinko's with a pile of plans to scan and wanted to see if there were any "holes" in the plans list that I might be able to help with from here. Also have a scanner coming so am looking forward to scanning some old paper for you in coming weeks. jeff

RE: Classic Pattern Plane Image-base

Fantastic, Jeff. The Kinko's in my area doesn't scan to a file. I usually copy a plan and build from that, but the last time I did that, the scan was about 3/32nds longer than the original. I thought the kit wood was too short, but I found it was the plans once I compared them. I'll have an Utter Kaos with a wing that's about a half-inch longer than it should be.

Thanks

The Kinko's here is great. Scanned 6 plan sheets for $20 to my jump drive.

I hope these scanned true to size. The only trouble I had was getting the plan to feed straight into the scanner and not an an angle.
