I'll call it risk management. He appears to have full management of the airframe but as always his investment is at risk. If you want to view real stupity watch the pilots flying 3D with helicopters.

I have to say, anywhere you are, that when you take your hands off the wheel of a car and you get into an accident, its your fault. Regarless of if anything happened or not, he took that transmitter and put it on the ground. He no longer had control of the airplane; even if he was holding it. Then, he did a little dance. Regardless of how good of a pilot he is, it doesn't make it right or any safer. If anything had happened it would not have been a good thing for anybody, and nobody would make out that situation.

Actually, we don't even know whether the guy was really flying the model.

It could have been under the control of someone off-camera ... just a stunt.

i didnt see anything dangerouse except for that nit-witt. that prop in the head would probably kill him. everyone else was way away from any danger. all i see is a stupid jerk that is a very talented pilot who must be tired of real flying,,,,probably best that he stays with model airplanes.

The problem I have with this is that by putting the transmitter on the ground, he's not in control of his aircraft at all times. This kind of RC pilot behavior (stunt or not) is exactly what the commercial sUAS guys want to make their case with the FAA to regulate the RC hobby.

I don't see any reason this would be any less safe than any other prop hang, and the only person he's putting at risk is himself.

really???

the airframe falls out of the hover to the left... it hits the camera man.... it falls out of the hover to right...it hits the people in the pits....

Every village has one..

He is theirs

Ok, let's say he's still at the sticks in that hover. Rudder servo glitches full left. Plane veers into cameraman. Or it glitches full right and veers into the pits. Pilot's still not in control of the airplane in this instance so it's no different. Or, hey, what about this one: Defective prop explodes mid-hover. Someone's going to get a new horn whether he's on the sticks or not if that happens.

This prop hang is no less safe than any other prop hang.

I suppose by your logic I should scrap my Ford and buy a Kia because a defective left front tire would kill more bystanders if it fails on the former than the latter, right?

Doesn't matter. The FAA, at least for the present and hopefully the future, has no regulatory authority over this here so why would a regulatory agency in Mexico have any there?

As for the AMA, you don't really believe things like this don't happen in the US do you? And what would they do.......send the RC cops?

Yes, there is an FAA in Mexico. It's the DGCA.

Not impressed. High risk and not that cool. I dont know what you guys are seeing. Basic hover and stupidity. A tight 8 point roll or rolling circle is much more impressive.

Just because you don't understand it (or can do it), does not make it stupid. 3D helicopter can be flown with precision and is an art form. Stupid no transmitter hover is nothing but stupid.

Just cuz you think its stupid doesnt mean anything either. Who cares what you think.

You wouldnt walk up to him and call him stupid amongst his homies or a 3d helicopter guy as you would be eating frijoles through a straw.

Why dont you goofy liberals give it a break, the man is a damn good flyerand you only wish you could fly half as good.I dont give a damn what the AMA says about safetyhes in a big field and probably practiced this flying many times over. It looks like he has first rate equipment so enjoy the show you dont need to call him stupid because this is how he likes to fly.
