This is a picture i took at the Bomber Field big bird fly in the pilot is named Joe Pastor and is 85 years old and flies all types of planes including jets along with his son joe jr.
Joe sr had just touched down and imediatly went airborne again as his wheel rolled away after a low and slow flyby to assess damage Joe sr lined up and landed on the rim on the asphalt it was amazing and i felt like very few pilots could have pulled it off without causing additional damage.
i also added a few pics to show off some of these amazing birds.

Looks like an incredible show with some incredible models. Thanks for sharing the pics and story !! That looks like Fuddy Duddy. I took a flight in a B-17 painted in those markings.

if ever anyone can make it to the big bird show (they also have civilian and military warbird classes) it is most amazing at times they had up to 8 B-17's in the sky at one time.
the Bomber Field wb site is http://www.bomberfieldusa.com/index.htm should anyone need more info it is located about 45 mins outside Houston Texas.
"Joe was lucky he did not crash,Vary talented! "
Joe is an amazing pilot to watch this 85 year old man fly a jet with the reflexes of an 18 year old is almost surreal, if i achieve a level of controll that is one tenth of his skill i will die happy.

Still, kinda has to make ya sick to watch one of those big boys crash and be demolished!!!! I mean, those models aint no $100 arfs!!!!
There was a guy down towards Parkersburg WV that had some sort of large jet. Can't remember the model but I know it was worth about 15,000. However, wasn't worth crap after doing a full throttle nose dive into the turf. There was virtually nothing left to salvage.
Probably the reason why I will never go above 90 to 120 size.

well the good news is that none of the large birds or jets bit it that weekend.
there were crashes but mostly on the small planes and all exept the one were repairable.

I can't resist, I have a picture that I took at Bomber field that my friends just love. When I made it my desktop, my friends thought it was a real aircraft.

As a part of Elmira College graduate requariment, I have to serve 60 hours of community service. I chose The National Warplane Museum and currently we are working on "Fuddy Duddy". There is an airshow in Calofornia, in the begining of April and hopefully she will make the deadline. Last week the third engine was still split on half. I will go in Wednesday and take some pictures of interior and exterior if anyone interested?!?

Did you ever hear what took down the Christian Eagle at Monaville? When it went down, it happened so fast that it looked like a catastrophic failure to me.

the P-38 was repairable and as i understand is already back in the air the pilot lifted his gear too soon on take off and the prop hit the ground and that caused the crash as only one prop broke causing the plane to roll.
The Christian Eagle apparently went full right rudder and full right aileron and with the low altitude there was no time to respond that was a beautiful plane that i heard was scratch built and not a kit. this is what was left of it on the field.
I was actually working at the field in the sound booth anouncing and taking all the pic's

that last shot is great and it does look like its about to crash that is joe sr landing without the rubber on his wheel.
The pilots were well aware of the wind as it was discussed in all pilot meetings and he had flown several times the day before and the day of the crash repair time is based on a chat with the pilot after the crash.
