My Blade CP is green with envy. Yesterday I finally got my Trex 450 SE all setup and flew four battery charges through it. Man oh man! It is so stable it's almost boring to hover. When you guys are ready to upgrade, I would highly recommend the Trex. I am amazed at how this bird flies. The rotor sound is pretty incredible too. I'm glad I started with the Blade though, because Trex crashes are going to cost a lot more than the Blade crashes.

Anyone know of a good Hughes 500 fuselage that fits the Blade? I think I'm going to bling it out, now that I won't be flying it as much.

Try this and see if it helps... Don't try to hold the heli in one spot, just keep it moving around a bit, that way your flying it instead of chasing it. Trying to keep it in one spot is not important, but being in control of it is... Remember to keep the heli always moving, and keep the tail pointed at you for now. Let me know if that helps, it sure helped me when Lacey gave me that advise...

Don't try to keep the heli in one spot... thats not important... Keep the heli moving constantly, that way your flying it, instead of chasing it. You'll just keep crashing if you keep chasing it. Don't let the heli fly you. LOL Let me know if that seems to be helpfull. When Lacey told me that, it changed everything, and I was hovering like a champ very quickly.

I posted this twice accidentally. After I posted the first one, I looked and it wasn't there... now their both there. LOL OOPS !!! Oh well, good advise is good twice I suppose. LOL

Talon you could balance the entire rotor just as easy...this is what the main shaft really feels.

First undo the control tray pushrods from the swashplate. Pull the pin and remove the head. With a small file, remove all burrs from around the pin hole in the shaft. Loosen the collar and remove it. Eyeball and straighten the shaft with pliers the best ya can. The shaft may not come out easy, and will probably require the use of a a small hammer or simular tool, and a long skinny punch, nail or whatever. The shaft is part of the gear, and they don't seperate... Also, you need to remove the skids and battery tray...

I've decided to try a direct drive tail rotor mod using the GW/EDP-50H motor. I notice it is not grounded from the negative terminal to the case like the stock tail motor. Do you guys think this is important?

I didn't worry about it on mine and have had no trouble.

If it's bent it can be dificult to remove. Just don't force it. Remember, there are two bearings involved which are designed to be an exact fit so you may need to slightly straighten it by hand to get it to come out. You don't want to damage the bearings. Also, the bearing guide set screw may have put a burr in the shaft which will have to be filed smooth before you can get it through the bearing as well. Once you straighten the shaft, slide a bearing down it to make sure it fits. Lightly file it if it catches along the length then put a drop of thin oil on it. If the bearing slides on smoothly you'll have no problem with the swash.

Well, This is my first post here... I've been lurking for a while and have picked up some great advice. I have had my CP since Dec 2005 and I have to say it is one frustrating piece of plastic! Damn! It seems like every time I take it out, the littlest nick against the blades (switched to CF) and the main shaft and rod that attaches the blade grips both get trashed. Very Frustrating! Is there anything (short of selling it and getting a Raptor) that I can do to increase the strength of the mainshaft and bladegrip shaft? I'm at my wits end with this thing!!

Yes, learn to fly....just kidding. What's probably hurting you the most right now is the CF blades. They are unforgiving in even the smallest crash and the torque will bend or break everything else. I know it's really easy to damage the wood blades, but they can (much to the dismay of some) be repaired if careful. I got my blade in November, have replaced the blades only twice and the main shaft only once. And I'm a lousy pilot compared to some of these guys. I crash a lot, just not as much as I used to. The main thing is to allow yourself time to learn. Take it easy. A wise man once said, if the heli is not in "your" control, you have to do too much to get it back in control and more likely you will crash. Keep it low to the ground for a while. That way if it starts to get away from you, you can always set it down quickly. Being able ti fly indoors (no wind or grass to worry about) and slide around on wood floors helped me a lot. If you can't do that, throw down a sheet of plywood.

If you haven't checked out "Radd's school of rotary flight" do it now
also check bdavison's build thread and bladecprepair.com to verify your setup is good.

Patience will save you money and don't be shy to ask questions.

the only ones I've seen were homemade. You can use the parts from an old cd rom and make one quite easily. You can even buy a kit from gobrushless.com. if you're shy about a scratch build.

Any word on the new plastic blades yet? I am going to try an experiment later today. I have a cheap 2 channel Dragonfly heli that I bought from radtech for 40.00 a while back. Even though its really low tech the thing is indestructable. I've hit trees 25 feet up and the thing slams to the ground and just bounces. I flip it over and up she goes again... I have crashed it at least 15 times hard with no damage, its crazy! It's fixed pitched and has really soft rubbery coated blades that are about the same size as CP blades, I think I'm going to pull the blades and try them on my CP just to see if it will fly with them.....

Hey guys, thanks for the compliments! The song on that one is for Time Life's Big Band compilation. I'm having such a good time. Heliyardsale,( BTW great name), I wouldn't go with stronger blades cause you'll just break more expensive parts! You might be able to repair the woodies if they're not to baddly damaged. I put plastic blades on and that's when I broke alot of stuff, including bending my main shaft and snapping the tail boom in two.

Hey guys,

I thought you might enjoy this little video I shot this morning. It was pretty windy above the trees, and I almost lost control, but it came back safely.

Hey all, been reading this thread for over 3 weeks trying to catch up with the end, made it! First off, some very good info buried in here on many problems and good advice on flying this lil p.o.s. weakling. I have had mine for about 4 or 5 months and wish I had never laid eyes on it and bought a decent one instead. Mine flew for awhile and developed every problem known or seen in this forum. First the sticky collective, repaired and moved on, then tail rotor dying mid flight, repair and move on. Even 4 in 1 problems. I thought it was just me at first but have had experienced fliers help with setup and flying and even they said it was the weakest helo they ever saw! If it gets set down with anything less than perfection it's a boom strike, if it gets hard rear cyclic a boom strike, WHAT A PIECE O'WORK!!! other than that I love the size and quietness as this is my first non nitro chopper. I am cutting my losses now and gluing what i can and when that don't work it's dumpster time for the unholy monstrosity! Any suggestions for small size e-helo that is less pricy than a t-rex but MUCH stronger and better built than bladeCraP? sorry for rant, another boom strike today and shattered it again, any suggestions welcome
