I have a brand new BCPP or well it was. I crashed it into a tree about 20ft up. Poor heli paid the toll. So now I have acquiered(what ever) several other peoples crashed BCPP's and now I plan on building one from the bottom up. I have never attempted something like this before, are there any suggustions for me before I get started? I will be using stock salvage parts.
Thanx

I have rebuilt my BCPP from bottom up in hopes to find any broken parts and all you really need is an hour or two and the exploded view in the back of the manuel.

Tom2,
Here's a link to B. Davison's build thread without the forum posts:

It's for a CP, but it will get you through rebuilding a Pro.

better watch out for 540 stalls, don't go too vertical at first, the piro rate may have improved, but stopping piro is still far from dead on. i had a hard landing because of dong piro manuvers too fast and stopped nose in unexpected and was too low, but the holding power is great, especially with a bit of revo dial in. holds quite well in stationary rolls. dunno bout flips yet as i'm learning to hover inverted.

MYK,
I just did the one with the GWS motor. There are specific instructions on pg 41 of this thread. I used the stock mount, but I don't know if I'd do that again as the motor didn't seat exactly flat so its canted ever so slightly to one side. Hovering in my basement I couldn't tell. I'm sure its fine.
Chopperdude, I'll be sure and practice fast piros in hover first. Its actually, obviously, to the right that they're so fast, where the t motor is pulling it around. I don't know if you fly other helis, but I've found with the raptors I've owned you have to stop the tail just right with the left stick. The gyro will hold it, but at a high piro rate its very easy to come out wrong. Anyway, good advice. I won't go too vertical too soon. Now I'm going to put the fut short crystal in and try my 9C.

ya, u'll really love the fut 9c, gives much more options. i found the piro rate to be about the same left and right, i'm using the pusher formation though, are you? yes, in fast piros, you'll have t stop it just right, in a raptor, it's stop right where you want it (or at least right where you let go of the stick). but with the bcpp, even if you've got a hh gyro, the tail still won't be able to reverse, all it can do is stop, and the inertia of a right piro will make it not stop at the right place, and i still find the dd to not hae quite enough power and spool up to stop a fully developed left piro. i wish i fly other helis, will soon, but only had the bcp for about 1/2 a year.

Justin,
Hey I dont have your same controller but I do know that that the gyro just takes in the servo position that your tx is sending and equates that servo position to the gains percentage. So if you trim up, you gain up, if you sub trim up you gain up, if you move the channel up (with the stick/switch/knob) the gain goes up.... and so on. Think of your gain knob on the gyro as the arm on a servo and maybe that will help. Im not sure if your HH is the same as mine but for me neutral position is 0% gain. If my extra tx channel tells the servo(theoretical servo) to go one way it is increasing the gain in Smode & if it tells the servo to go the other way it is increasing the gain in HHmode. So for my extra Tx channel(which is a knob) I would have both trims adjusted to neutral and the knob turned half way to = 0% gain. I would imagine if your ger channel is a knob like mine it should be the same. then turn the knob from center in the correct direction to bring your gain to a proper setting for whichever mode you choose.
Hope this help...
Noah
Oh and how is your heli flying in general these days? Did you ever figure out exactly what was making your heli act up before. Is it stable now aside from the gyro probs?
Does any one know what the sub trim on the ger channel with the DX6 will do to the gyro? (the ger channel is the remote gain channel)
I think the travel limmit is gain ajustment but what is sub trim for it?

So I have been real busy the last week or two(unexpected winter work for my biz) I havent had much time for flyin' but I did find time to get online and ordered some hs-55's. Jelly or rob I may need some help when I get to installing the things using the stock Rx.
Mainly though I found time to order the PhoenixRC sim. Yea I finally threw in the towel and decided i'm too impatient to continue without one(too much time spent fixin stuff lol)
So does anyone else have this sim?
What do you think of it? (i heard its very realistic & it had a better price than reflex or g3 so I went for it)
What model do you find most acts like the bcpp?
Thanks,
Noah

I just put in the fut short crystal and got the 9C going. It runs the swash just great, but the gyro won't initialize, and the led just is steady red. Anyone else have this problem?
#1114
I did.... The settings given for the 9C said to reverse the throttle and ail. Are you saying I should reverse the throttle back to "normal?" Thanks for the help, Chopperdudes~!

hmmmm... just to clear things up abit, u r using an external gyro? try this, unplug the motors and give full throttle to see if it'll arm. it has to be throttle since it's staying solid red. radio signal loss makes the led FLASH red AND green.
#1116
no, its the internal gyro. That makes sense that it would be the throttle. I'm going flying today so I put the original crystal back in. I'll try what you suggested when I get home. If that doesn't work I'll try increasing the end point on low throttle (43) to make sure the 3 in 1 is seeing it as throttle off. Thanks again for your help. I think I can get it from here.

Thanks savage,
I already purchased th Phoenix RC sim. I read that it and reflex have far superior flight physics for helicopters. I would like to be able to have the sim remain just as usefull all the way through to the highest level of acrobatics ect. Also the poenix sim was cheaper than G3. Thanks for the input though.
I am stil interested to know if anyone else is using it?

well, I just got back from talking the Blade CPP to a gym with the DD upgrade. Really nice! lots of FFF, Piro circle, tons of nose in and even backwards flight with turns. The tail responded well trough it all. The piro circle was very smooth and controllable. THe bacwards flight was fast enough to be true backwards, not just a creeping hover. I went back from one end of the gym to the other and then did a large, smooth 180 and came back the other way, so I had to make the turn with speed. THe tail handled really well. So then I hit idle up and the switch didn;t do anything. Time for the 9C....

Aerodave,
When you hit idle up-what were you expecting to happen?
My undrstanding is that it adjusts the collective pitch to allow for inverted flight so if you were at say 3\4 throttle, nothing should have happened! At 1/4 throttle she should have come down fast because pitch is negative.
If I am wrong about this- let me know. I don't knoww enough about these birds yet to make novice grade but I do listen to what others say (write).

wow stupid huge storm has knocked out my inetnet for 8 days, delayed my helicopter from being returned to me for 6 and not allowed me to do hardly anything, so what have i missed in the last 15 pages?.

Moejoe,
you've missed all my drama, getting evrything all setup and lots of folks asking about the DD upgrade. Porobably some good reading.
MYK, in a perfect world there would be no difference in collective at that point, but this usually takes some fine tuning to achieve. However, there should have been a significant increase in headspeed, especially in an electric where it is common to run the idle up throttle curve at a flat 100%. Anyway, I GOT THE 9C WORKING!!!!!!!! thaks so much chopper, for keyng me into the throttle. it wasnt reversed, but the 43-100 end point didnt work.
Take notice, guys. your tx could be different, like mine was. I had to go to 100% at low throttle to get the gyro to arm. I figured, when I plugged the motors back in it would take nearly half throttle to get the blades to move. Wrong! THey started as soon as I moved the throttle. So then I took it into a hover, and it seemed a little sensitive around center. I thought I'd add a bit of expo but then realized I was running a pretty high headspeed for normal mode. Since I now have it on my 9C, I merely adjusted the normal mode throttle curve and now its great. This is SO MUCH BETTER! A cute little great flying heli I can use with a decent tx. Now I'm happy. Sorry for going overboard. Its just so cool when something actually works the way its supposed to.

guys i believe the time may have come to sell my heli. my patience is not what it takes to be a great heli pilot i think i may step down a notch one day and try again. But for now i think im going to sell it. figured i would give you guys first shot at it. it is a blade cp pro with about 6 batts flown out on it. it has never been in a bad wreck. i havent had to replace anything besides the spindle and blades they were woodies and didnt even need replaced. just wanted to go with the flat bottoms. i have ordered another spindle just in case! it is the stainless steel one from micro heli. and i ordered the carbon fiber rear fin. also have a set of the blade cp training gear. it will all go with it jusfigured before i put it on ebay i would give you guys a shot at it. i will take $240 shipped to your door within the lower 48 states. and if you are elsewhere we can talk about the shipping price. i still have the original box and everything so let me know guys. if not its going on ebay this week!

I've been reading the thread for a while and was wondering how many of you guys have gone brushless with the CP Pro?
Has anybody determined the head speed differences for brushless and the stock configuration. My only info on this has come from watching some of the videos of the CP pro and with brushless, there is clearly higher head speed based on what I can see in the videos but I'm wondering if the upgrade is worth it?

Tow Cobra,
I just went with the suggested upgrade in the manual to the brushless motor, is it worth it? A definite yes! The power difference is amazing. You may have to re-adjust your proportional mix and gyro mix, because of the difference in power. I well spent $100 bucks.
