I was watching the game. Since the Seahawks blew it, my hopes are for Indianapolis since I never liked the bears after McMahon's big head days. I guess them beating the Hawks may have a little to do with it.[:@]

I just ordered the batteries and will report after getting them. If we can come up with a less expensive (notice I did not say cheaper) way of powering our birds, it would benefit everyone who reads this thread. I do know that there are a lot of us with different preferences.

Michael,

Haven't done the G90 yet, but it's on my list.. I purchased a T-Rex a few months ago, and it's the nuts. Great heli. Sprectrum system is the latest and the greatest, no more glitches. No more 36 inch Rx antennas, is a plus too. Only a few inches long.

o and talking about "less expensive" i just got a 1500mah lipo made by Kokam for $0.00 yes i love free things especialy brand new free things. and it really seems to not be much heavier then the 800's, i'll weight them soon to compare, but i guess i have to find a balance lead to solder onto it, it will work with the standard charger right, o does anyone recomend any other chargers/ blancers, what's needed, what isnt? and i hope the bcpp can handle the 1500's weight but i really think that it can,

Moejoe,
If you look at the link on page 46 regarding the less expensive LIPO's you can see that they have a balance charger that may be what you are looking for!

Well I did it, Read the whole form. I have been flying a Blade Cx2 and just sold it, between the Cx and Afpd, I think im ready to move up. I have been practicing inverted flight on Afpd. The Blade Cp pro seems the way to for indoors but was considering just going with a Trex any thoughts???? just dont want to keep out growing the Heli.

I think the Trex is a great heli. I fly all the time with a guy who has one. Its simply in a different league than my BCPP. Completely awesome! But it runs out of room indoors quickly. And when you take it outside it really pales compared to a larger nitro heli. But to set one up right, it costs pretty much the same as a Raptor 50. If you are concerned about outgrowing the heli, I think its capabilities will keep you interested for a long time. I just think eventually you're going to want something bigger. If you want to stay electric, I would suggest the Trex 600. For nitro, the Raptor Titan, Sceadu evo or MA Razor all look good.

I just sold my CP PRO, fully modded (BL, DD, skids, HH,etc.), and bought a TREX 450S CF as a second heli...

I have a TREX 450SE as well.

After flying the TREX inside a gym, I would fly my cp pro and was bouncing it off the ground because of the HUGE lack of power.

Once I bought my SE, the cp pro was a real dog , and the tail motor just won't do what you want it to do as will any of the Trex's...

You can fly them inside the same area once you get used to the higher head speed. NO, you should never fly the TREX inside the house, it IS TOO dangerous.

Even simple forward flight can be challenging on a modded cp pro because of the tail motor and shear lack of power... Hard to get out of trouble.

I learned on a CP PRO and it is great for what it is... IMO my CX2 is great fun inside the house and the TREX's for the gym's and outside is a much better than what the cp pro can do...

Wait for a good deal on a "Used-Excellent". They come up once or twice a month, make sure the seller understands what your expectations are when they advertise "excellent condition", make sure it's "complete RTF" with all original contents and you can get some GREAT DEALS usually with extras thrown in.

You can buy CA solvent that will uncure CA glue...check your LHS.

Moejoe,
I replaced my tail boom and had to use the CA "un cure" to get the tail assembly off and the boom out of the frame.

P.S. I am using a DD tail with the original tail piece. The new DD motor fits in the original motors hole.

Hi! All Still in the hover mode and I'm starting to get the hang of it. Thanks to the Radd system, I have avoided any serious crashes. My hovers seem to be more of circles and trying to avoid over compensating. The centering is not really great. Do you think it is due to servos or could it be something else. My blades seem to move in and out quite a bit. Shims might help i guess. How much play is to much?

Dougwill,

Glad to hear you're using the Radd system, great thing to have if you don't have outside help. You may be over copensating, it's pretty normal for beginners. You only need 1/8 inch or 1/4 inch of right stick to make corrections at most. Just be patient, it will be easier down the road.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "the centering is not really great", the centering of what part?

If you've noticed that the blades are moving in and out quite a bit, add one shim to each side, recheck and make a test flight.
You may have to add more than 1 to each side. There's a fine line between not enough and to many shims. Better 1 less than 1 to many. 1 to many will make the response a little slugish or cause the tail to bounce up and down a few inches.

Don't forget to lubricate the 'O' rings in the rotory assembley and the swash plate once in a while. Also, the upper and lower main frame bearings, and the tail rotor bearings.

Dave / Choppersrule

Wish me luck,

hmmmm... from my experience, spindles comes in various lengths... not great but... thats the way it is. also, the o-rings will wear out and will creat more slop than necessary in the system. with too many shims i also found that when going full positive climbouts AKA motor boggin, the whole heli will wobble. i don't have shims but am actually putting in an extra step bearing (step facing o-ring) in, that sometimes will creat a problem since the adjustability is limited. i am now using a spindle that's so long that on extra step washer on each side still give the head too much play, but i got no other methods since i don't have the shims. a little tighter head is my preference as it gives better cyclic response/rate. i AM using a 100% flat throttle curve that'll kick away minor wobbles.

and i just felt i should share this story, a better word would be careless, a not so better word would be stupid. i was outside yesterday, windless, sunny, but have snow on the ground. i did some circuits and some invert hover practice, all went fine. then i decide to land check something on my 7C. took off again and tried to do some more inverted practices, and when i flipped her over, i started to realize that she needs more negative than usual and is still sinking. lucky i was high, i felt that something is not right and instead of giving more negative pitch i flipped her over... landed, and rechecked everything... all was good. and after some mind-bending thinking, i finally figured out that i forgot to switch to idle up. i was lucky as i had about -3 degree of pitch for normal mode and have around 60% of throttle at 1/4 stick and 100% at mid stick, that enabled the bird to still have enough lift to not drop toward the ground, and still able to flip her over, if i had given more negative pitch as when i was in idle up, the rotor will stop and nothing can prevent a crash. just wanna share.

justin, i'm really stuck on your case here, i dun really know what component to suspect. you might want to try the curve prop to see if you can increase your gain. or you might cut that square prop of yours, i really dont have a clue. this is just a random guess but... is it posible that the your gyro is faster than the tail esc on the bcpp?

Ok all of you egg spurts out there. Has anyone had any problem with radio glitch? I was flying at work this evening and noticed several times that the lil birdie would just drop from about 3 feet up. Not a good thing for the skids! Fortunately she land squarely oon the skids with no rotor slap on the boom-Yeah! Please let me know as I need an excuse to buy the DX7 and this would be a good one that the wife would have to allow![>:]

Both me and my buddy have had radio hits. Minor, but just as you described and very annoying. Yeah, I too am leaning toward a dx7 for my park flyer stuff.

Thanks Zope,
Do you have brushless motor set up on your heli?
