Hi Fellas, Chopper Here:
Been busy with the family over the holiday weekend. Been doing a lot of flying the last 3 weeks, CP and the Trex.
The CP is the one I installed the dual tail motors on. Have about 40, ten minutes flights on the motors and so far, just working like new.
I mentioned in an early post, I purchased a Infrared Temp Gauge. Been using it alot.. The tail motors never get over 10 degress over ambient temperature. The dual motors for me and my type of flying is working out very well..
Trex, about 20, six minute flights in the last two weeks. This helis is a ton of fun to fly.
Nothing to report, both helis are still intact, with no crashes at all. (last 3 weeks only)
ArrowNaughtic:
Your absolutely correct, a bunch of good guys here, with a ton of ideas and experience. Together, I don't think there isn't anything we can't get going... The Wild Turkey, I'm sure you were using that for a good nights sleep.
Have you remedied your wooble problem? Just curious.
Lookyj:
Sounds like you're having a good time on your 4 day weekend. Finally got some time off work. Two CP Pros and a CX2 down, that's a bummer.. They don't like wind to much, we've all been there.
Your post: I already broke the first two rules when I spooled her up. 1) don't fly at night, and 2) don't fly when you're drunk.
With all my years of experience, when drunk(yuk-yuk), you forgot the Golden Rule, "KEEP ONE EYE SHUT"

Crashcrash:
Holy Molly, hopefully the new motor will get the heli going. You've replaced just about everything under the sun. Glad the Corsair is giving you as many headaches.
Barrick:
Glad you had a great time in Dallas, sounds like you were the STAR with the CX2, good for you.
Bad luck with the CP-PRO, motor going out on you. SOLDERING, no problem, maybe one day, you'll give it a try.
I went to the RUNRYDER, site you posted the link for, is there something special we need to look at, I'm interested.
Forgetting PASSWORD, I usually use the name of a person that means something to me, IE, granddaughter and her birthday.
IE: bertha0828 / name, month and day.

Heya men............. Still breathing after a hard nite of playing. Went out this morning and flew the blades off of the CX2, I am trying to get some FF reflexes going for the blade and the TREX.
choppers, the blade still has the wobbles, I went to a stock CP head and brand new MH main shaft. I think the rotor head itself is the culprit. Got a new spare one in the parts box, will toss it on a lil later. The CNC head is on the table, will chuck it up in the drill and see if its the main shaft or not. I will be trying the flybar weight distrabution also you mentioned earlier. I put a dot of fingernail polish on one of the paddles. Will see how that works out.
crash, No plane yet, I expect it will be here tomorrow nite when I get home from work. I am getting pretty good at touch and go landings on the FSOne sim and also been practicing side in hovers with the blade CP on there too. It has a neat little feature that i have been playing with the last 2 days. You have a landing target and have to set your heli right in the bullseye. Closest I have gotten is .36 ft from dead center. Tunes in around 4 1/4" from dead on. Haven't tried it with the cub yet.....heh
Sounds like ya had a blast Rick, glad you had fun while there.
lookyj................... I too get bit in the hiney when I do that........... It is so hard to resist, they just sit there and practically call my name and beg me to take em out and shake the dust off. Sometimes I listen.....mostly I don't!

Crashcrash,
This is exactly what you need to compliment your Corsair. Takes awhile to load.

Hey Guys, I worked today[:@], six days off in 3 months! Construction, when it rains it pours and when it's dry there's a drought! I did get out at noon and after some house chores,( and 5 beers!) I took the Blade to the back yard. I took off and got into a sweet hover and trimmed it out. ( Am I the only one that has to trim it every time I fly?) I got a bit higher and noticed something moving next to me, the Blades shadow. Needless to say it got my eyes off of the chopper long enough to smack it into the gutter
She fell to the ground so I shut everything down. Did I mention I just put these woodies on? I took it the the basement and glued the blades back up and took it back out. The blade tracking was slightly off but the wobble for the bent shaft more than usual. Time to get the spur/shaft w/ auto rotation
I think I'll put the carbon blades back on, too. I saw no difference in flight quality between the woodies and carbons.
God Bless You Guys!
I'm truly glad we have so many men and women that volunteer their lives to protect my freedom. May God Bless Them and Protect Them until They Return!
Keep our Troops in your Prayers!

choppers,
that's what I missed... "One Eye Shut"
guys, I need some help....
just got the FS One simulator....
that darn display at the LHS talked me into. Actually, it was the fact that I was waiting around and had a chance to play with it... did my first few loops with the CP, on the sim of course.
Anyways bought the program with the WL1000 wireless adapter, for my DX7
I just spent the last couple hours installing, calibrating, reading and still can't get it to work right...
see my thread for more info: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5913756/tm.htm

Lookyj,
I read your other thread, sounds like a nightmare, anyway, I don't have a SIM, never got around to it..
Just a thought here, if your using, say, model 1 and model 2, on the DX7 for your real helis.. Go to model 3, select heli, and try and use all the default setting in the program of the DX7. Can't hurt.

choppers,
I created a new model called FS One in my DX7 then I tried copying my settings from the CP Pro..... didn't work! TREX..... didn't work!..... default heli settings...... didn't work! default acro settings...... didn't work.
The worst part about all this, is I killed the batteries in my DX7 and now can't fly my real Helis.... seems like I'm always waiting for something to charge... this time it's my controller!
D'Oh
I think it has to do with the transmitter settings in the sim. Spektrum says to use the JR8103, but that controller is not an option in the sim. FS One says to use the JR 8ch EMU + FS One and select MiG 15....

Looky,
It was just a thought, didn't know how far you went in settings and stuff...Looks like you've got a new project.
Guess, I'll get a BEER or two, too.

Hey Ya'll, I thought I'd post a vid of my blade I shot last fall with my second tail mod. Some of you have probabaly already seen this but I thought I'd post it again. My depron tail mod works better than I thought. It helps reduce the tendency to climb in fast forward flight.
BTW this music is from the Jah Kings, a group my brother played with, he's on the alto sax.
God Bless!

Hey guys...
Well today I upgraded one of my Blade CPs with a 4200kv brushless outrunner, and 11.1v Lipo. I already had a CNC aluminum head on the heli, and HS55 servos, so it was pretty stable. I managed to get the motor installed, 4-in-1 hacked to drive the ESC, and everything setup and balanced and trimmed about 10 minutes before it was too dark to fly... I ran out to the backyard (missing the first goal of the hockey game! ack)... fired it up.. and HOLY!!! What a world of difference... this is the power that my stock CP is missing... I hope to get a better flight in tomorrow after work if the weather cooperates, and perhaps some video, if the wife cooperates. I'll keep y'all up to date on that. Wheeeeeee.... Blade CP!h

The depron tail does great things for forward flight. For 1, the Blade tends to climd in fast forward flight. Second is it's tendency to yaw hard right. This is a pic of the tail I built, it's very effective in forward flight. It doesn't eliminate the bad habits of forward flight but it certainly helps!
If anyone wants, I'll take different picture views of the tail to give you a 3D look. Main tail has the tail blade cut out. The horizontal fin has negative pitch. The 2 tail fins from bottom add right yaw. A small carbon rod braces it all. You could build the same out of balsa.
Also I did a few loops but the original Blade CP's gyro sucks hard. You can go upside down better without the idle up. Engaged it will spin the heli at the top. That's just my experience with it. I'll keep it upright and save the repair bills for the T-Rex I plan on getting!
BTW I'm a RedWings Fan[:@]
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

Well...I'm on a real roll here. Cant make the Pro fly. My Corsair, took it out this am and it was flying REAL good. Then...no control. Ended up nose in from 60ft up...totally obliterated. The supplied quick connector on the elevator servo supplied with the kit FAILED. One good note...the whole plane was a pile in one spot and the battery ended up 4ft away. The AR6000 don't have a scratch on it but the servos took a major hit and the plane is a total (the propeller didn't break!!!). JHC...maybe I just need to get the heck out of R/C all together...I have NO luck with this "sport". The corsair had issues from day one that are based on overall quality of the kit (stripped the drive gear first day due to improper mounting at the factory, and went to a different drive gear/motor combo). To make the plane right after you buy it requires MAJOR mods and replacing the supplied hardware with good quality DuBro stuff.
Sooooo...cant fly squat, I will work on the yard (yeah...OK). Cutting tree branches that are too low, my buddie is running the chainsaw, I'm holding the ladder (see broken hand VS vibration). Branch is about 3-1/2" diameter...falls and hits me in the right rear torso...knocks the wind out of me NOW. I shake it off...continue working on the yard. Later...using the tractor to re-locate concrete to fill a nasty hole....the 1" pin comes out of the hyd cylinder and oil shoots every where...didn't find the pin and that's a must have...gotta find it tomorrow. Anyone need some of this rotten luck? I'm willing to share! Everything I touch turns to poo lately. NOBODY can have this bad of luck and live to tell about it. I'm waiting for a grabber or to get hit by a stray bullet, or get creamed by a car....oh wait...I'm not that lucky.

barrick,
not too worry, FS One is a great sim with the stock controller and the correct machine (processing speed and graphics card).
as always, I like to take things to the limit and try as many configurations as possible to find what combination I enjoy the most.
choppers,
once again, with my hand in the cookie jar. there's ALWAYS a project, one of the great things about this hobby!
arrow,
so have you got your TREX up and running yet?
atzanik,
can't wait to see some more of your vids. great inspiration and the music's great too!

We have to talk! I'd love to hack my blade up to a brushless! I don't have any new vids though. I do have a lot more control over it but it still slides around. It's like flying on a big bubble, you just have to try to be on the top of it

We have to talk! I'd love to hack my blade up to a brushless! I don't have any new vids though. I do have a lot more control over it but it still slides around. It's like flying on a big bubble, you just have to try to be on the top of it
The depron tail does great things for forward flight.

As for the 4-in-1, the hack is really quite easy. You just take the 4-in-1 apart, and on the board (there are two boards inside) with the pins, you can see that ch 3 and ch 4 pins have been cut short. Get yourself a servo extension cable, and solder the three wires to the three pins on ch3. Put the 4-in-1 back together, sticking the servo extension cable that you soldered to ch3 out the hole where ch5 is, and screw it back together. Then you connect the ESC to the servo extension wire you soldered in. The only difficult part is the soldering (tight space for some), and make sure your iron isn't too hot. Tinning the wires on the extension cable before you solder will really help make it quick. I think it's kind of dumb that they used short pins and blocked ch 3 with plastic, but I guess for some it forces them to upgrade to a CP pro, all seperates , or something else. Time for the mod is about 5 minutes if you're good at soldering.
Good luck!

The other side of the coin is, you've had so much bad luck, you're about due for a good luck streak!
