anyone seen that? Apparently it's a ps3 controller that uses bluetooth, and a modified receiver that uses bluetooth and onboard linux to modify the signal to PPM for flying heli's. It also has a tilt sensor in it for the cyclic, or you can run a standard mode 2 cyclic config. It does raise some q's though as if they are just in the bg controlling it with a regular controller though... hrmmmm who know's.
I've done some sim time with a ps2 like controller, and it's defiantely a weird feeling. The throttle goes to 50%, instead of leaving it where it is put, and because the sticks are shorter it is alot more sensative. So if you think the bcpp is too sensative with the stock controller, then definately do not try this

darticus,
the HBK2 or Honey Bee King Version 2 is an RTF Esky heli with belt drive. It's a great heli with a few mods as crash and others will tell you. Check this thread...

Ya I've been keeping a steady eye on them hbk2's...Looking forward to the future ! Just about got the CPP dialed in almost, I can keep it hovered almost a full pack in my 2 by 2 square in the garage.....However, I just found out the main motor is making that screeching horrible sound after a couple minutes telling me it needs replaced finally, but no worries I'll get one here in time It's just telling me that it doesn't like those pig heavy flat plastic on that there 9 tooth ! I'll be busy in the next week so I'll get to it here shortly. As far as the plastics, I'd rather replace blades than everything else that occurs using them especially in a crash. Just my personal experience ! I was reading some more back in March late last night, and It was the time of your "glitching" ordeals and I'am not sure if I was just tired or what but you had me in tears laughing at some of your responses and I know it wasn't funny for ya, but man what an ordeal for ya ! One of the responses was this one:
You remember my LHS...never has anything I need in stock....EVER. Yeah buddie...I'm SMOK'IN now. I half way expect that the LHS does have an RX in stock though...they carry a lot of radio garbage (of which I seem to be a magnet to). What caught my attention was the glitching last night so I investigated. I even put 3 brand new servos in and then I noticed the right rear not making full travel. Then I went through the transmitter programming line by line...everything checked out, none of the settings got screwed up. I mean...Je$u$ H. Chri$t...will this junk ever be right? Someone SHOOT me NOW. I did notice just before it let go that the heli HOPPED a couple times like it did when it had a bad servo that one time but it was intermittent this time. Bad or inoperative servo equals bunnie heli...ALWAYS. I'm no expert in these things but I'm getting good at diagnostics with them. I think I've seen EVERY conceivable problem that can occur with them. I am a Eflite CP/CP-Pro EXPERT mechanic. Hey Horizion...need a technician? I'm available. This thread is my resume.
Crash your a riot !
I've got a lot more to catch up on, so I hope your problem has been solved currently...Well have a good evening, Jeff

Yah!!! I got the Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Back!!
Thanks to Mr. Choppers and everybody for the tips and advice. So my CPP poor lift/hover with symmetricals problem was due to a failing main motor (duh!!) I’m pretty new to this game and guess I didn’t realize how fast these little motors can wear out. I was flying up to 4-6 packs a day! Also, I think my spindle was bent, but not sure how much as I burned in hard just before I replaced the main motor.
Anyway, I took Dave’s advice and installed a 370 10 tooth main motor. It really gets the head speed up. Almost seems to over-speed at times in idle up so I turned down the idle up mid-point adjustment. The HS-55’s are working good, though they are always bumping up and down just a little bit. I’m gona p/u some contact cleaner for the TX and see if I can get it to stop.
Still getting her tuned perfectly, but it’s getting close. Flew into the wind and light mist today. Hoping to hit the ball fields at the park tomorrow.
Here are some pics. I got a little crazy with yellow pin stripping on the canopy one day when I was bored at work. It actually helps a lot when the visibility is low. See ya, Onad

Onad,
4-6 packs a day for a month, you're probably due for a new motor. Try a 370 motor with a 10 tooth pinion, I know they say don't, but I did for the longest time and nothing detremental ever occured. The plus side of the 10 tooth is that you'll gain some head speed too.
Also, if your running a stock transmitter, you'll have to make the wiring change on the HS-55 servos, they turn in the opposite direction of the Stock S75's.

very nice, I like the yellow bling =) That definately would be useful for low light =)
I also like your wrap around the boom and stuff and how you routed your wires, looks great!
how does it all balance with that pin striping on there? Like the rear rotor, and is it tail heavy with the extra weight on the boom? Have you flown it very much with the pin striping on there, how do you think it will stick with all the wind and stuff?

Yah, the bling is also really helpful in getting the little bird back home after ripping a big banked turn 100ft away...
The pin stripping is for hobby model and is very thin/light so I actually use it as balancing on the tail rotor. Adds a little bit of weight, but not much. The stripping has been on for 6 weeks or so and stays put with no problems.
The tail rotor in the picture is my back-up plastic tail (this was the first tail I stripped and over did it a bit). I broke my carbon tail in the last wreck. I had a less striping on the carbon tail. I notice a difference with the lighter carbon tail rotor. Seems more responsive and lags less than the plastic. It has been more durable than the plastic. Also, I shortened the tail boom to 10.5†from the frame.
As for the weight, the tail wrapping is very light. I thought about taking it off when I did my rebuild, but it weighs almost nothing. It does help with blade strikes and adds a little bit of visibility to the boom.
I’m running a different Rx and 3:1 on this build and still having trouble getting the tail hold totally dialed in. It might be this 3:1. I’m going to swap out to the original 3:1 and Rx and see if makes a difference. Wondering if the 10 tooth motor is influencing this also?
Chopper’s, do you run a head holding gyro with your 10 tooth motor setup?
Tx, Onad

Hi Guys,
I currently own a CX2 but I decided to pickup a CP on the weekend. After 3 succesful batteries it's giving me trouble. Here is the email I wrote Horizon, any ideas?
Good morning,
I bought a CP+ RTF on Saturday and it flew great right out of the box. I put 3 batteries through it on Saturday and everything was fine. After charging the battery on Sunday night I tried to plug it in to the CP+ and all I got was servo chatter and the 3-1 would not engage. The red and green lights remain lit after about 10 sec of loud servo noise and nothing will work on the heli.
The only thing I've done is swap out the included flat bottom blades for the included symetrical blades.
I'm lost as to what to do next, I tried engaging the 3-1 again this morning and I had no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, make sure the throttle and trim are all the way down and the idle-up switch is not on during arming... ~O

Yah, it’s usually the simple stuff that gets me. While I was trying to get my re-wired HS-55 servos to come up I thought I had messed up the wiring because one of the servos was moving in the opposite direction. Then I finally realized that I had the two rear servo plugs reversed in the 3:1. Glad I found that before I ripped open all the servos…[sm=bananahead.gif]

Come to think of it I did leave the TX on all day Sunday, The batteries did run down into the yellow. Before I wrote eflite I took a set of freshly charged batteries and installed them in the TX. I have not checked the crystals though.
The lights on the 3-1 are both on, it's not the alternating pattern that happens when there is no signal.
Could I remove the crystals from the CX2 RX and TX and use them?

It just goes nuts, I unplugged the main motor because it almost killed me!
I plug the lipo in, the servos chatter like mad and the light tries to turn green but the red stays on. Then it's silent and red for a few seconds and it starts all over again. The tail will run, the main will run and the servos are not happy. I only flew the thing for 30 minutes total. There is nothing that I did that could have caused this.
I just want to fly!

Ok.....silly question : You are turning on the TX first before plugging in the heli, right?
You definately can't use a crystal from your CX2.......there isn't one (its 2.4Ghz and doesn't use crystals)
So, when you plug in your heli it never arms, just goes straight into glitch mode from what I am reading. Is that correct? If that is what is happening and you have done all the proper startup procedures then I would venture a guess that your TX or RX is bad. take the whole setup back to your LHS where you bought it and if they have a different TX they can pull the crystal from the RX that goes with it and install in your heli to troubleshoot it. They should back up your purchase and get you flying again quickly. Keep us posted on your status and what your LHS says.

Thanks for the replies. I actually own a CX but I'm so used to reading CX2 so I do have crystals. I am powering up the TX first with the throttle trim low and the idle up is turned off.
If you engage the 3-1 with the TX throttle up the TX just glows red like it's supposed to, this leads me to believe that the TX is somewhat working.
I'll take it to the LHS but I'm not expecting a miracle.

Alright...Breaking in new motor (1st time ever) .... Wish me luck lol !
And on another note: I would listen to crash and you other guys on here before I would even think about asking any of those tech's at horizon....! Do they just find these guys off the street ? lol ! Hmmmmm.......Since I don't know squat, I'll bet they'll hire me !
