LOL....I guess the only cost was wear and tear on the ole ticker and a new pair of shorts....right? I did the EXACT same thing last week...right down to the ducking part. Ended up landing on the other side the street in the grass because I wasn't about to fly it back. No damage (God loves stupid people....he made enough of us...LOL).
I think this is just my way of exercising my heart. It's a good cardio work out in my book Now if I could only use the hobby to lose weight.

J-Michael / Jeff,

Choppersrule here, welcoming you aboard. As many have already mentioned, you've found a forum and this link with a bunch of guys that are very talented in the heli world. We've all been together for quite sometime, we horse around somewhat, and cry on each others shoulders. But most importantly, we are all willing to help each other out. You'll find a wealth of information from all the guys. I'm the nutty one. Again, welcome to the group of Bob's. (Band of Brothers) Oh, and I wouldn't think of charging you $10 bucks for an autograph like ArrowNaughtic, See picture, it's free. I watched your video and your doing great, keep it up and just be patient.
Dave / Choppersrule

Guys:

Holy Crapola, I'm gone for a few days and there's 4 pages of posts. I can't keep up that pace, like some, I get confused of who is saying what.

J-Michael, I just watched your vid. You have the talent to fly this bird. I saw nothing in your video that suggest other wise. Jump back up on the horse for sure.

yes I pretty sure that is the belt drive you describe. I have the MH main gear installed and the drive for the belt mounts to the underside of that and I believe the tail is a plastic t-rex tail. The HBKII really sounds like deal and from everything I have read, it seems to hold tight in the tail, but there is no parts supprt with my LHS either OEM or knock offs so that is why I went with the belt from freestyle. I should be able to get most replacement parts within a day. I will let you know once I get it and have installed it.

mrasmm -

I went with the e-flite park 370 brushless main

I agree Jay...he's there. I remember when I was there...twas NOT that long ago. Wind let down enough to do some front yard circuit. In the field, blowing 10-12mph. The front yard 4-6mph. It was pretty nice to get outside for once.

but anyway I remember that since this crash it hasn't been as smooth as it was and even seems eradic and not keeping its cool as I could keep it usually tame without biting to much. Now I find it biting all the time !!! So I had put it on the shelf, and there she has sat. (only for now)
the ol' lady wondering where all my money is going ! [sm=lol.gif] Here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VKWAFv4cqM
These parts caught my eye. Would you say that you put it all back together and now it flies differently?. It hasn't been as smooth and is erratic? I tried to replace just the broken parts and live with the bent ones but now I know how crucial these bent parts are in getting the chopper to fly correctly. Main shafts and feathering shafts bend with the slightest of hit and will greatly affect the performance of your heli.

Let us know if we can help

Jay

Chopper Here:

Noguy and Jeremy: I think the pinion puller is the best for the helis, I've got one, like Noguy said, 10 bucks or so. Most come with different adapters, so you can use it on different millimeter shafts/pinion size. Only take 10 seconds or so to do it, no muss or fuss.
Like most of us, we're in this for the long haul. Get the right tools to do the job.

ArrowNaughtic:
Never left, just busy, with different priorites. I'll be more active in the winter months. You've heard it many, many times. You've got the best thread on the network. That's saying alot, great job. How's Jacki doing with the CP?

Mrasmm (I got it right),

You'll love the brushless and gyro setup, like Crash said, no maintenance and extemely reliable. Glad your back, haven't heard from ya for awhile. Guess this thread is additive. Always some here to help.

WNUK / Jim
Thanks for checking in, I certainly understand having a tough go at it sometime. Things will get better, wish you the best.

Adrenaline Rush:

Well, I've crashed sooo many times in the last two years, plus or minus. I think I've become complacant and it doesn't seem to bother me anymore. It's kinda like, OH WELL, I did it again. Pick up the pieces and go again. Hobby shops love me. [8D]

Atzanick,
Great pictures, looks like a few great flighst. Yep, weather here in Indiana sucks, wind never stops blowing. Either, way early in the morning or late at night. Thinking of putting in some flood lights.

Lookyj,

Your doing well my friend on the old Hornet, lots of tiny little parts.[8D]

Gotta go fly... Spare blades came in today..

Picture of pinion puller a little fuzzy. But works great.

J-Michael / Jim,

Watched your video again.. My guess, by your event. Would be either a bent main shaft or a bent spindle/feathering shaft.
Need help, let us know.

hehe yeah man, you gota get flyin =)

Good to hear from you as well. I haven't seen you around alot lately, glad to hear things are going well for you though. I like the bar peice that you have with the two V's in it. My puller doesn't have that and if the pinion is too close then I have to pry it a bit with a screw driver first. Did that come with it?

yeah, that setup should be alot of fun. How did you mount your gyro? With the white sticker to the side with the text right side up? I've seen it mounted so the white sticker faces the back. Would that be correct also, or what's the best way to stick it?

Thanks for the help =) I like it around ehre if someone doesn't know something or just knows a bit, people keep adding their bits of info until we've got it figured out =) Like back in the day the DD setup =)

Mrasmm (Got it right again),

My pinion puller did come with the bar that has the 2 V's. It's very versible, lots of options and configurations.

Gyro mounting: See picture, manufactures sticker is facing the right side of the heli. I've tried it both, left and right side. Reason I went with the right side.. Look at the wiring and sevo plug, facing to the rear. Easy access, if mounted the other way. It's impossible to remove the plugs without removing the gyro.. Mount the gyro with double sided sticky foam tape. You want to eliminate as much vibration from the heli to the gyro as possible. The thicker the foam the better.

Later Rex, need anything PM me, I don't have the time to check the thread as much as I use to.

You seem to have the right "TIMING" for everything. Your news about my fixed CX was read a moment ago. I am in the house, quite ill. Yesterday was the scattering of my wife's ashes, and I became so ill I almost couldn't get back to the house ) 60 + miles one way.... My ankle is unbearable, and it seems to me that I may be passing a kidney stone, beginning yesterday. I just lie on the couch, because the pain in both doesn't let me think, so I lie, hoping that some sleep will come. Called in sick at work. BUT YOUR NEWS made me smile ! Thanks , PAL.... you are SO GREAT. I guess this is all I can write, for now.
THANK YOU THANK YOU.... just took a peek at the PC on my way back from the bathroom to the couch !
Truly, you all boost me up, every time. you the ONLY friends I got
RICK

Rick.....go see the medical man buddie....don't sound good. Don't blow it off...really...go see a Doc. They can give a script that will dissolve those buggers and you'll be back on your feet in no time.
Yes RICK that stuff works I have had two friends with stones get that script and they swore it was a complete God-send.

Your looking at the belt drive mod1 then I believe. It is a bit more spendy but have you seen the mod 2 kit? It really cool, has a belt driving pinion gear and then the belt drives the main gear and the tail.

This pdf has grat pics. [link=http://www.freestyle-hobby.com/catalog/images/Belt%20drive%20inst2.pdf]Freestyle hobby belt mod2[/link]

A BIT OF HELP REQUESTED HERE :

I have been changed from ROADRUNNER to COMCAST...... From that day onwards, there has not been ONE E-Mail received in my Mail-Box. I am SUBSCRIBED to this FORUM/THREAD, so I usually get the notifications, and even those have ceased to appear.

Would anybody who cares to do this, please E-Mail something, maybe just : TEST TEST 123 to [email protected]

Thank you for all your best wishes.... My ailments have passed, it seems. I finally applied ice to the ankle, and the Kid.Stone seems to have passed by itself, woke up today 99% NORMAL ( 1 % BRAIN MALFUNCTION is standard and Non-fixable ! ) he !

HAS ANYBODY HEARD SOMETHING ABOUT THE HONEY BEE KING 2 PUTTING OUT THE NEXT ( upgraded ) version ?

THANKS ALL RICK

You need to add the new account. Go to outlook express mail, select tools, select accounts, select add, and then enter the info step by step. Then if you wish...remove the OLD account.

Email sent Rick, glad to see you are feeling better! Take care of yourself and stay frisky. Sounds like you are on the good foot (pun intended)
The dialing in of the CX2 will be finished tonite and I will have Jacki drop it off tomorrow morning to be shipped.
Glad to see ya pop in Dave, I really wasn't gonna charge for an autograph, I kin berlee speel gud aund werking with hukt on foniks is pa ying ovf! Loved your lil jest there buddy, I laughed out loud when I saw it! Jacki says hey and I went out and flew the CP last nite after building some new training gear for it. I gave the original set to my nephew for his new fixed pitch heli he got for his birthday. I will build him his very own Blade CP this winter and spend some time teaching him how to fly it. He is only 6 so his Dad will also be learning how to fly it too! I am thinking of making a longer set of training gear for that one and just giving him some nimh's to start. when he shows enough progress then I will upgrade his to a bell hiller head and lipo's.
noguy........that mod looks a bit involved but what a neat concept. I bet getting the tension on that belt is quite the chore! I wonder if doing that mod requires a brushless setup of if a SloMax would handle the load........... hmmmmmmm

Man that Mod2 from freestyle looks pretty major. More upgrade than I want to do. (maybe if I had not progressed through all the other tail mods). Haven't heard of anybody doing it yet. The one coming to me is definitely the Mod1. Should be here any day. I keep hoping and looking, like a puppy waiting on his master, but each day the mail truck leaves and no Mod for me. Maybe today. I do have a rebuild to do with the mod since my last tail failure put it in the ground at a decent clip, probably just the main and feathering shafts, but need to check it all.

Wow, ya leave off here for a day, and you can't even find where you frickin' left off !!Thanks for the autograph Choppers, Before I even signed up to this thing I was already just Scanning and reading most of all the old forums for a few weeks, and you were one of the legendaries throughout the posts. Thanks for the encouragement with the vid, I haven't flown that thing it seems forever ! I did "fire it up a week after I got the CX2, but I think I was in CX2 mode, cause it didn't feel like it wanted to be cooperative ! I see those spindles are a weak factor, and soon I'am going to go through it and get it flying (hovering, my bad) again..I know I'll be able to get it tuned right and even as I've done a lot of reading, and there is good support as The LHS here is not very familiar with the Heli's. When I get it flyin again I'am taking outside on a calm day, It's never left the little shop area of 20' by 20', and I don't even like flyin the CX2 in there because it's to small, so I can't wait to get the Pro on the lawn, and just "jump-it up" and hold it and see where I'am at !
